Louis G. Thomas
Veteran Louis G. Thomas "Louie", to know Louie and to understand Louie one must first speak of Character. Louie was both rich in character and quite a character.Once you met Louie, you simply couldn't forget the experience. No one ever left Louie hungry he would feed you first with love, then with food.Louie was intense!
He was not an act of understatement, God chose to be dramatic the day he created Louie Thomas.
He was the comet in the sky, the thunder in the storm, the fire in the dance. He was the earthly Gabriel blasting his trumpet with full force and breath, just as his Rosie is the angelic gentle lilt of a heavenly harp and somehow such blend was the full melody and measure of heaven on earth, and a chorus we can only hope to hear again in eternity. Louie was simply Louie.
A man of complete contradiction: earthy but ethereal ,ordinary but extraordinary, explosive but tame, cynical but innocent, ferocious but harmless, heroic yet wounded, simple but wise tough but tender, most of all Louuie was generous, always. There were no limits to his generosity, Louie would not only give you the shirt from his back he would give you his back as well.
Louie was no average man and because of this his sorrows and joys were not average, not ordinary, they, like Louie the man were extraordinary. Louie, who fisted and brawled himself forward in this life, with callous hard worked hands, was also the soft and tender palm that fed peanuts to crows and tended with care the rabbits outside his window and could celebrate the delights of a ripe juicy cultivated tomato from his garden and rejoice in his grandchildren's pleasurers. Louie could see the beauty in the simple and the perfect in the ordinary and knew when he found Rosie he had found something so simply beautiful, a being of temperance and grace, he knew this because he knew Mary the Blessed Mother, in ways most real and he could recongnize the mark of holy grace when he found it. For Louie talked to Mary as you and I talk to our neighbor..."Hey, Mary,I need you! Where are you? Listen to me Mary!" such was his intimacy with the sublime in daily life. And so it was no suprise that God should give him Rosie to father a family with. A holy family, Louie made his home a temple, his family a holy union and hospitality was the labor of his grace. He found in Rosie the one woman who could forgive his sins and through her holiness bring forth a family of Holiness, three daughters of grace:Vicky,Noreen and Debby. He was a wise and a rich man. He had knowledge of God and the wealth of a loving family. Now most of us seeheaven as a place of peaceful rest, but not so for Louie. He is not rsting in heaven Louie is preparing the Lord's banguet, tending the feast, baking the bread and labors at the right hand of God. There will never be the likes of such a man again, such was his spirit and his character, he had the mark of God on his soul and he has now gone on to the paradise that such souls seek.
Our Gratitude to God to have know his visit.
Mass of Celebration of Louie's life will be held on Tuesday February 27th in St. Joseph's Church,Quincy Point at 11AM Visiting hours will be prior to the Mass beginning at 9AM in the Dennis Sweeney Funeral Home 74 Elm Street, Quincy Center.
