FRANCES DONALDSON
CUMBERLAND - Frances Phillips Donaldson, 97, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1900, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Sydney and Clara (Roth) Phillips. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Donaldson; one brother, John J. Phillips; and two sisters, Bess Hinkle and Devota Reid.

Mrs. Donaldson was a graduate of the Allegany Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed by the Allegany Hosptial and Sacred Heart Hospital as a private duty registered nurse. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and a member of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing Alumni.

Surviving are one nephew, Walter Orndorff, Cumberland; two nieces, Elizabeth Malone and Doris Hartung, both of Cumberland; a speical great-nephew, Warren Davis, Frederick; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cumberland, on Friday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lee A. McDaniel officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

MARY A. BRICKHOUSE
LONACONING - Mary Agnes (Hassell) Brickhouse, 87, a four-year resident of the Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, formerly of Tyler, N.C., died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Oct. 11, 1911, at Tyrell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Richard A. Hassell and Maud (Hardy) Hassell. She also was preceded in death by two husbands, Lloyd O. Bunch, on Jan. 15, 1975, and Charles Edward Brickhouse.

Surviving are a son, Pastor Dallas W. Bunch and wife Mary, Barton; a daughter, Sarah Nissenson and husband Marvin, Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Iris H. Jones, Columbia, N.C.; two brothers, Ruben R. Hassell, Elizabeth City, N.C., A. Iredell Hassell, Columbia, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many family members who loved her dearly.

Mrs. Brickhouse was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Edenton, N.C.

Friends were received at the Evans Funeral Home, Highway 32 North, Virginia Road, Edenton, N.C., on Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Evans Funeral Home Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ashby Browder officiating.

Interment will be in the Jordan Family cemetery, Tyner, N.C.

The Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, is in charge of local arrangements.

BERNADINE CHANEY
WESTERNPORT - Bernadine Chaney, 85, of 416 Spruce St., Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born Dec. 16, 1912, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Florian Andrew Wilson and the late Maude (Mitter) Wilson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Chaney, on Oct. 16, 1997; a daughter, Shirley Chaney; three brothers, Robert, Edward and Don Wilson; and a nephew, Bobby Wilson.

Mrs. Chaney was a member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport. She was a member of the Tri-Towns Bridge Club; and the Bruce High School Sportsmen Club.

Surviving are one son, Lester A. Chaney and wife Pam, Westernport; two daughters, Monta Jean Kyle and husband Sonny, Barton, and Sandra Faye Morris and husband Gary, Westernport; one sister, Elizabeth Reynolds, Westernport; eight grandchildren, Debbie Hennessey, Nancy Redd, Rick Kyle, Deena Bradley, Gary Morris Jr., Margie Rawlings, Craig Morris and Jamie Chaney; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Morris officiating.

Interment will be in the Philos cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad or the Tri-Towns Lions Club.

NOLA M. ELLIOTT
CUMBERLAND - Nola Marie Rice Elliott, 94, of Cumberland, formerly of Bedford Valley, Pa., died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born March 16, 1904, in Roaring, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Phoebe Jane (Morral) Vance.

She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Owen F. Rice; her second husband, Walter H. Elliott; one son, Walter Rice; five brothers, Walter, Omar, Ora, Warren and Russell Vance; and two sisters, Zerna Long and Mamie Sites.

Mrs. Elliott was a homemaker.

She had attended both Centenary and Bethel United Methodist Churches.

Survivors include two sons, Lester Rice, Bedford, Pa., and Owen J. Rice, Cumberland; one daughter, Louise LaValle, Stevensville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Walter E. Lancaster officiating.

Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.

ROBERT DONALDSON
LONACONING - Robert Donaldson, 76, of 2 Douglas Ave., Lonaconing, died July 27, 1998, at Western Maryland Health Systems, Sacred Heart Hospital Campus, Hospice Unit, Cumberland.
Born June 7, 1922, in Barton, he was a son of the late Angus and Mayme (Bittinger) Donaldson. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Mae Donaldson, on Dec. 26, 1987; and two sisters, Bonnie Cook Sanders and Marian Livermore.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, Frostburg Moose, Barton American Legion Post #189, Alvin C. Neat V.F.W. Post #5280, Lonaconing, Georges Creek Valley Lodge #161 A.F. & A.M., Lonaconing, Ali Ghan Shrine, Marshall Morning Coffee Association. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ann Whittington, and husband, Ronald, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Sally Lynn Muir, and husband, Charles, Barton; five grandchildren, Ronnie Craig Whittington, and wife Robin, Keith Robert Whittington, Julie Lynn Muir, Kristal Leigh Trunkett, and husband, Donald, and Maggie Raenae Muir; two great-grandchildren, Justin Mario Whittington and Ryan Craig Whittington; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is special friend of eight years, Gloria Bull.

Mr. Donaldson donated his body to the State Anatomy Board of Maryland.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children, Shrine Headquarters, 2900 Rock Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Arrangements are being handled by Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing.

WILLIAM RUDOLPH ALMOND
CUMBERLAND - William Rudolph Almond, 70, of 11810 Crocus Ave., Potomac Park, Cumberland, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Oct. 14, 1927, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Melzie C. Almond and the late Wilhelmina (Senkbeil) Almond.

Mr. Almond was employed at Morris Motor Express, Tri State Linen, and Mountain State Linen. He was a member of Melvin United Methodist Church, and Teamsters Union #453. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

Surviving are a wife of 49 years, Marvel (Robertson) Almond, Potomac Park, Cumberland; two daughters, Jeanne Markle, and husband, Gerald, Keyser, W.Va., and Kimberly Smith, and husband, Marvin, Cumberland; two sons, William Thomas Almond, and wife, Cheri, LaVale, and Chris Alan Almond, and wife, Denise, LaVale; six grandchildren, Travis Markle, Morgantown, W.Va., Tricia Markle Moten, and husband, Lucas, Alexandria, Va., Matthew, Christopher and Katharine Smith, Cumberland, and William Joseph Almond, LaVale; three sisters, Ruth Stallings, and husband, Raymond, Cumberland, Margaret Kuhns, and husband, Junior, Edgewater, Fla., and Hazel Troxell, Canal Fulton, Ohio; a brother, Calvin Almond, Glen Burnie; a sister-in-law, Mary Jane Almond, Cumberland; and a special nephew, Harold Senkbeil Jr., and wife, Norma, Potomac Park, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Richard Leslie and the Rev. Daniel Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Harold Potts, John Shipley, Robert Young, Cleon Robertson, brothers-in-law, and Travis Markle and Matthew Smith, grandsons.

Memorials may be directed to Melvin United Methodist Church, Marion and Reynolds streets, Cumberland, Md.
