MARGARET JANE DORMAN
MOUNT SAVAGE - Margaret Jane Dorman, 92, formerly of Mount Savage, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital. She had been a resident of Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born June 7, 1906, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Flora (Martens) Winebrenner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Stanley Dorman; one daughter, Dorothea Simons; and three sisters, Blanch Helmick, Marie Caughey and Virginia Wyszynski.

Mrs. Dorman was retired from Mount Savage School Cafeteria. She was an active member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church. She held an office in the Parent-Teacher Association. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rebecca Arnold Chapter #57, and was a member of Mount Savage Historical Society, Barrelville Outdoor Club, the Frostburg Senior Citizens, and the Mount Savage Senior Citizens.

Surviving are three daughters, Eleanor Gibbons, Port Charlotte, Fla., Maxine Leavitt, Silver Spring, and Priscilla Simons, St. Cloud, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Murray Winebrenner, Opalocka, Fla., Victor Winebrenner, Orlando, Fla.; and three sisters, Anna Dougherty, Honey Grove, Texas, Roberta McGuire, Frostburg, and Rose Alice Hobbins, Brooksville, Fla.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rebecca Arnold Lodge #57 will hold a service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Mount Savage United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.

Interment will be in the Mount Savage United Methodist cemetery.

JOSEPHINE I. COWGILL
CUMBERLAND - Josephine I. "Jo" Cowgill, 87, of Cumberland, formerly of Paw Paw, W.Va., died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Sept. 30, 1911, in Paw Paw, she was a daughter of the late George and Emma (Santymire) Ropson. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore D. Cowgill in 1968; one daughter, Helen I. Fetzer; and one great-grandson, James J. Dormio.

Mrs. Cowgill was a homemaker. She was Methodist by faith, and a member of the Election Judges for the Democratic Party in Paw Paw.

Surviving are one son, George W. Cowgill and wife Rosalie, Cumberland; two daughters, Joyce C. Cowgill and Grace C. Mason and husband Eugene, all of Cumberland; one son-in-law, Harry T. Fetzer, Cumberland; one grandson, Debert Cowgill; four granddaughters, Vicky Herbaugh, Sandra Shank and husband Alan, all of Cumberland, Pamela Thurlow and husband Mark, Christiansburg, Va., and Ellen Jo Mason, LaVale; four great-grandsons, Michael Shank, Orlando, Fla., Eric and Brent Thurlow, both of Christiansburg, and Freddy Herbaugh, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; and three great-granddaughters, Melissa Shank, Vienna, Va., Stacy and Megan Cowgill, both of Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at noon with Pastor Lee A. McDaniel officiating.

Interment will be in the Camp Hill cemetery, Paw Paw.

GLEN T. DOUTHITT
CRESAPTOWN - Glen Thomas Douthitt, 79, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at his home.
Born Nov. 29, 1918, in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Herman and Ella (Stottlemyer) Douthitt. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Douthitt and Dale Douthitt; and one sister, Myrtle Twigg.

Mr. Douthitt was a self-employed carpenter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the Troop G 8th Cavalry Division.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred (Skelley) Douthitt; one son, Roy T. Douthitt and wife Paula, Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Linda Miller and husband Steve, Hanover, and Karen Layman and husband Ralph, Severn; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

At. Mr. Douthitt's request, his body will be cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

The Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that contributions be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.

RALPH E. "PETE" BRIDGES
MOUNT SAVAGE - Ralph F. "Pete" Bridges, 64, of Mount Savage, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 15, 1933, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Edgar L. and Grace V. (Ream) Bridges.

Mr. Bridges was a member of the Old Rail Post VFW and the Big Piney Sportsmen's Club. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he also served in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Surviving are one daughter, April L. Bridges, Mount Savage; one sister, Dorla Sowers, Mount Savage; one brother, Raymond C. Bridges, Boonsboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Mount Savage Methodist cemetery.

KATHRYN FLORENCE CRANFORD
CUMBERLAND - Kathryn Florence Cranford, 78, of Cumberland, died Thursday, June 18, 1998, at her residence.
Born Nov. 2, 1919, at Six Mile Run, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (O'Neil) Skipper.

She was retired from the Celanese Corporation, where she had worked in the Coning Department.

Mrs. Cranford was raised in the Methodist faith.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary-Cumberland Outdoor Club.

Survivors include her husband, Frank L. Cranford; three children, JoAnn Adams, Chesapeake Beach, Donald L. Cranford, Santa Monica, Calif., and Gary L. Cranford, Cumberland; one sister, Beryl Lepley, Barrelville; two brothers, John Skipper, Mount Savage, and William Skipper, Baltimore; four grandchildren, Robert L. Brown, Baltimore, Leslie A. Brown, Chesapeake Beach, Stephanie L. Cranford and Stacy L. Cranford, both of Cumberland; and two great-grandchildren, Edward Beall, Fredericksburg, Va., and Morgan Taylor Cranford, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are members of the Cumberland Outdoor Club: John Dougherty, Harry Appel, Robert Appel, Gus Brant, Bill Wagner and Ronald Tharp.

DONNA DOVE
CUMBERLAND - Donna Dove, 61, of Charlotte, former Cumberland resident and owner of Balloons Above Cumberland, Centre Street, entered the gates of Heaven on July 16th. A precious woman of God, Donna was courageous throughout her year-and-a-half battle with brain cancer.
Donna's love of life was apparent to all. While she fought the good fight, her quick wit and unique sense of humor kept those around her filled with joy. Even in the darkest moments, there was laughter and light with "Miss Donna."

A woman ahead of her time, Donna piloted a plane, worked diligently at her career, raised two fine daughters and shared her love of God with others. She served the Lord and helped to spread his word as she worked as a missionary in Jamaica for three years. Donna's life impacted many others and she gained the respect of all that had the pleasure of her company. She was a living testament that a strong belief in Jesus Christ can accomplish so much here on earth.

Thank you to all who graciously gave and attended to her during her illness. She felt loved by you all and is now singing in God's heavenly choir.

She is survived by her two daughters, Heidi Dove of Charlotte and Joni Hedrick of Cumberland; two grandchildren, Lindsey and Carl Hedrick; brother, Tom Anderson of Michigan; sister, MaryEllen Krupp of New Hampshire; and her other loving "kids," Charlie, Snowball and Muffin.

In celebration of Donna's life, a memorial service was held on Sunday, July 19, at the Church at Charlotte, 2500 Carmel Road at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Boulevard, Monroe, NC 28110.
