GEORGE B. CLEM
CUMBERLAND - George Bertie Clem, 79, of Cumberland, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, July 15, 1998.
Born Nov. 3, 1918, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Walter and Lucie H. (Rice) Clem. He also was preceded in death by one son; two brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Clem was retired from B&O;/Chessie System Railroad, where he worked as a brakeman for 38 years and retired in 1979. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in both the European/African and Asiatic Pacific theaters of war.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine Arlene (Woods) Clem; two sons, Gary Itnyre and wife Sue, Cumberland, and Kevin Clem, Jackson, Miss.; three daughters, Donna Peterson, Spearfish, S.D., Cynthia Gero and partner Kris Lloyd, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Kathy Murray and husband Mike, Rawlings; and six grandchildren, Angela Williams, Nathan Peterson, Kimberly Itnyre, Keri Gero, Brandon and Austin Murray.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Barclay officiating.
Interment will be in the Greenway cemetery, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Church of the Nazarene or plant a flower in Dad's memory.
JAMES ALLEN BROWN
CUMBERLAND - James Allen Brown, 61, of Cumberland, died Monday, May 25, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 25, 1937, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Raymond J. Brown Sr. and Esther (Shaw) Brown Beeseck. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, James M. Beeseck.
Mr. Brown was retired. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of the Cumberland V.F.W., Henry Hart Post 1411; Cumberland American Legion, Post 13; and the Cumberland D.A.V. Mr. Brown loved boating and fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Elizabeth (Whetzel) Brown; two daughters, Janie Elizabeth Brown Wolleck, and husband, Michael, Newport News, Va., and Tech. Sgt. Joy Lynne Brown Defosse, Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas; one son, Timothy Allen Brown Sr., Oldtown; three brothers, Raymond J. Brown Jr., and wife, Pauline, Clearville, Pa., Richard W. Brown Sr., and wife, Carol, Cumberland, and Donald E. Brown, and wife, Claudette, Cumberland; four grandchildren, Timothy Allen Brown Jr., Mikel James Anton Wolleck, Lindsay Marie Wolleck and Kelsey Lynne Defosse.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. with Sr. Mary Louise Lyons, Pastoral Care Associate, officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family requests contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Richard W. Brown Jr., Joseph E. Brown, Paul R. Brown, Jerry Lepley, Rick Raider and Russel Duckworth.
PHILOMENA E. AUDINE
WESTERNPORT - Philomena Elizabeth "Fannye" Audine, 84, of 238 Main St., Ext., Westernport, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at the Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport.
Born Aug. 4, 1913, in Eckhart, she was the daughter of the late Petro Scarcelli and the late Rochelle (Granato) Scarcelli. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Audine; three brothers; and two sisters.
Mrs. Audine was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport. She worked as a waitress in Baltimore for 30 years before returning to Westernport. She was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are two daughters, Marian Harvey and husband Harry "Red," Bloomington, and Rachael Dayton, Westernport; six grandchildren, Valerie Grogan and husband Robert, Keyser, W.Va., Mark Harvey and wife Dianna, Westernport, Greg Harvey and wife Karen, Piedmont, W.Va., Timothy Dayton and wife Diana, Westernport, Rebecca Donnellan and husband Bill, Westernport, and Kelli Morton and husband Chuck, Westernport; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, July 17, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, July 18, at 1 p.m. with Father James Hannon officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Peters cemetery, Westernport.

JOHN R. BROWN
CUMBERLAND - John R. Brown of Florida, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998.
He was the son of the late Osa and Rita Brown.
Mr. Brown was employed by C&P; Telephone Company and BellSouth and retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Masons, Shriners, Elks, Moose and American Legion. A graduate of the Class of 1946, Fort Hill High School, Mr. Brown was the winner of the Hazelwood Award in 1946. He was an all-around athlete of Fort Hill and was a veteran of the United States Army in World War II.
Among the survivors are his loving friend, Carolyn Schwoll. Mr. Brown was a loving, caring father to Mark L. Brown and wife, Starla; one daughter, Kathi M. Thiele and husband, Herb, and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the American Legion, US Highway 1, Tequesta, Fla. Call 746-9070 for time of service.

ROBERT KENNEDY DAVIS
CUMBERLAND - Robert Kennedy Davis, 37, of Glenn Street, Cumberland, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 30, 1961, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Lloyd F. Davis and Mary V. (Clise) Davis. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary F. Davis; and a brother, Royce Davis.
Mr. Davis was a 1979 graduate of Allegany High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Field Artillary in Germany.
Surviving are seven brothers, Joseph M. Davis, Frostburg, Lloyd F. Davis Jr., Cumberland, Ronald A. Davis and wife, Barbara, Cumberland, Richard E. Davis, Flintstone, Randy L. Davis, Cumberland, Roger L. Davis, Cumberland, Ralph E. Davis, Cumberland; one sister, Rebecca A. Davis, Hagerstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
MARY ANNA AULT
CUMBERLAND - Mary Anna Ault, 62, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 9, 1935, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Naughton) Johnson.
Mrs. Ault was a retired grocery clerk of A&P; Market and was employed in the radiology department at Memorial Hospital. She was a 1954 graduate of Fort Hill High School and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, James H. Ault; one son, J. David Ault and wife, Kathy, Falls Church, Va.; two grandchildren, Samuel J. Ault and Amanda K. Ault; and one brother, Arthur Johnson and wife, Virginia, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held on Thursday at 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Friday at 10 a.m. At Mrs. Ault's request her remains will be cremated.
