REGINALD V. BORCHERT
OAKLAND - Reginald V. Borchert, 74, of Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, formerly of Grand Avenue, Cumberland, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 11, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Mildred V. (Hohing) Borchert.

Mr. Borchert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are one sister, Mildred J. (Bartik) Twigg and husband, Loy, Cumberland; one nephew, Gary G. Bartik and wife, Janet, Cumberland; one niece, Kay Bartik, Paw Paw, W.Va.; and a great-niece, Ericableu Bartik.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Milton A. Hipsley officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cumberland.

THELMA C. DEIHL
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. - Services for Thelma C. Deihl, 79, formerly of Furnace Street, Cumberland, Md., who died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, will be held at the Kight Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna and the Rev. Adam E. Grim officiating. Interment will be in Zion Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

ARLIE "TUCK" DAVIS
CUMBERLAND - Arlie J. "Tuck" Davis, 84, of Cumberland, died Sunday, June 28, 1998, at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born Dec. 24, 1913, in Bemis, W.Va., he was the son of the late Arthur J. and Bertha Nora (Marshall) Davis. He was preceded in death by one sister, Forrest Hartman; and one son-in-law, George R. Connor.

Mr. Davis was retired after 45 years from the Western Maryland Railway and the Chessie System. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cumberland Council #586 Knights of Columbus and the National Railroad Historic Society.

Surviving are his wife, Alice (Liller) Davis; two daughters, Arlene J. Connor, Potomac Park, Nancy R. Feeney, and husband, Joseph, Bel Air; one son, Charles W. Davis, and wife, Suzanne, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p .m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Reginald Russo officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Roy C. Roberts, Charles Reed, Roger Rizer, George Griffin, James Stafford and Paul Detrick.

Family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

DEBORAH J. BOOTH
CUMBERLAND - Deborah Jean Booth was born on March 25, 1960, in Lanham Park, Md. She attended the West Virginia School for the Deaf as a child and spent the majority of her adult life in Baltimore. She relocated to Cumberland in July 1997 and resided at Longview Apartments.
Deborah died at Memorial Hospital on Feb. 17, 1998, after a brief, but serious illness. She is survived by many good friends.

Deborah had a love of animals, especially cats. Her other interests included music, painting, crocheting, corresponding with friends in Baltimore, and socializing with new friends in Cumberland.

Deborah had a strong faith in God. Her favorite passage of scripture was Psalm 40. She will be sadly missed by many.

A candlelight memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1998, at 4 p.m. at Longview Apartments.

ANNA "NANCY" DE COSTA
CUMBERLAND - Anna "Nancy" De Costa died at 8:10 p.m. Friday, July 31, 1998.
She was born Annie Marie Judge (English translation for the Gaelic Cullanney) on Jan. 15, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her husband George De Costa, also of Brooklyn. They were married Aug. 8, 1936.

She is survived by their three sons, George Rene of Valencia, Spain, Frank of Cumberland, and William De Costa of Florida as well as three DeCosta granddaughters, Alev, Selena and Yvonne.

She also is survived by her husband George's sister, and Nancy's close friend and companion, her sister-in-law Jane De Mastri and Jane's daughter, Nancy's niece, Renee, of Florida, in addition to her beloved daughters-in-law, Yolanda De Costa and Genie De Costa.

She was known around town and the world at large as MOM; she always listened with open mind and accepted every one as their true self; none who knew her were not touched by her humanity and compassion.

Some of her adopted-by-love children also have gathered to share their common grief including Ken Da Costa of Washington State, Evette Fields of Ohio and many others to whom she acted as a second mother in good times and bad.

Nancy was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a daily participant in the activities she engaged in with all of her friends at the Cumberland Senior Center on Frederick Street.

In addition to her lifelong career as Mother, Grandmother and Nanny to many, she retired from a full-time profession as a counselor for the Florida State Employment Agency after many years of active service helping and advising others.

It is requested that any tributes in her honor be made in the form of a lit candle at a Catholic Church.

Private visitation for family and close friends will be held at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Cumberland, on Sunday from 7 to 8 p.m.

Private interment will be held in Florida at a later date.

LEONARD W. BOONE
SEATTLE, Wash. - Leonard Walter Boone, 67, of 4834 48 Ave., SW, Seattle, WA 98116, died Aug. 18, 1998. He lived there for the past 47 years.
Born July 8, 1931, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late Herbert Lee Boone and Nellie (Poland) Boone. He also was preceded in death by a brother, John Boone; and a sister, Mary Foltz.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline; three sons, Mike and Diane Boone, Perry and Martha Boone, and Doug and Nancee Boone; one daughter, Patricia and Joe Hinton; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur "Boonie" Boone, Daniel Boone, Melvin "Porkie" Boone; and two sisters, Pauline Foltz and Edith "Sissy" Athey.

Visitation will be held on Saturday and Monday at West Funeral Home Chapel, 4400 California Ave., Seattle.

Services will be held on Monday.

ANNE D. EBERLY
MIDLAND - Anne D. Eberly, 75, of O'Mara Avenue, Midland, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at the Washington Adventist Hospital in Tacoma Park.
Born Jan. 9, 1923, in Midland, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Bridget (Stakem) Devlin. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Devlin McGraw and Agnes Marie Urbas; and two brothers, John J. Devlin and Harry J. Devlin.

Mrs. Eberly was a retired teacher from the Allegany County Board of Education where she taught for 38 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, the Sodality, the Midland Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary, the Ladies Barbershop Singers, the Allegany County Retired Teachers' Association, and the Western Maryland Democratic Central Committee.

Surviving are one daughter, Anne Marie Rosenstein and husband, Craig, Clarksville; three sons, James C. Eberly and wife, Victoria, Frostburg, John "Jack" Eberly, Cumberland, Charles F. Eberly Jr., and wife, Linda, Bel Air; eight grandchildren; one brother, Daniel Devlin, Potomac Park; one sister, Katherine Rivera, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday evening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody as Celebrant.

Interment will be in the Saint Michael's Parish cemetery, Frostburg.
