VIVIAN L. ERICHSEN
CUMBERLAND - Vivian L. Erichsen, 89, of Cumberland, formerly of Grand Avenue, died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998 at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born June 19, 1908, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Nettie L. (Raynor) Schell. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, William Patrick True, in 1964; her second husband, Herbert M. Erichsen, in 1990; one daughter, Lucy Eileen True; four brothers, Walter, Earnest, Cecil and Harold Schell; five sisters, Mrs. Pansey V. Hughes, Mrs. Venona Werner, Mrs. Ina O. Titchnell, Mrs. Edna L. Davis, and Miss Ethel Schell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Erichsen was a former employee of the Union Laundry and the Snow White Laundry, Cumberland. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Sunday School Class.
During the last active years, Vivian loved to spend time with her grandchildren and at McDonald's talking with her friends.
Surviving are one son, William Kenneth True, Gaithersburg; one step-son, Chester G. Erichsen, Flintstone; two daughters, Mrs. E. Ruth Berkenbaugh, Cumberland, Mrs. Doris Jean Oates, Jacksonville, Fla.; four step-daughters, Mrs. Aurora B. Roby, Mrs. Ellean V. Crawford, Mrs. Helen M. Meyers, all of Cumberland, and Mrs. Christine L. Brode, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Edward P. Fleming Sr., her grandson-in-law of Camp Hill, Pa., officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
HARRY M. BEEMAN
LONACONING - Harry Martin Beeman, 87, of 60 E. Main St., Lonaconing, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 9, 1911, in Gilmore, he was a son of the late Elijah and Clara Belle (Clise) Beeman. Also preceding him in death June 17, 1991, were his wife, Anna Twila (Likens) Beeman; one daughter, Mary Ann; three sisters, Mary Walters, Bessie Williams, and Annie Rowe; and one brother, Wilbur Beeman.
Mr. Beeman was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II from 1943-1945. He retired from Celanese Fibers Corporation. He was a member of McCoole V.F.W. Post #6775, McCoole. He attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing, and Midlothian Assembly of God Church, Midlothian.
Surviving are four daughters, Karina K. Brodie, and husband, Robert, Lonaconing, Barbara Joan Fazenbaker, and husband, Grover, Lonaconing, Bonnie Sue Lough, and husband, Roger, Fort Ashby, and Janet Nines, and husband, Theodore, Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, Andy Brodie, William Brodie, James Brodie, Annette Kenner, Beth Kyle, Susan Mason, Kathy Broadwater, Bonita Kee, Roseanna Twigg, Roger Lough II and Melena Martin; and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachael Michaels, Eckhart, and Goldie Richardson, Frostburg; and several nieces and nephews; and companion Mary Alice Skidmore.
Friends will be received at Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Saturday, Aug. 16, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, on Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Loar and the Rev. Jimmy Blair officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill cemetery, Lonaconing.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
Military rites will be accorded by area Veterans' Organizations.
PETER J. BEEM
PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Peter J. Beem died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at University of Southern California Medical Center, Los Angeles.
Born Aug. 5, 1949, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Rosemary Barton Beem and the late Clarence "Bud" Beem.
Mr. Beem had been employed in the Lumber and Supply industry for the last 23 years. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and had started a chapter of Narcotics Anonymous in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Palm Springs.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary Claire Kulweic, and husband, Ray, Chicago, Elizabeth "Betty Ann" Steckmeyer, and Margaret Ann "Peggy" Jelley, and husband, Charles, all of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six brothers, James "Jim," and wife, Patricia, Chicago, William "Bill," and wife, Karen, Louisville, Ky., Thomas "Tom," and wife Diane, Bel Air, Robert "Bob," and John "Jack," and wife, Patty, all of Cumberland, Md., Patrick "Pat," and wife, Jan, Oakland, Md. He also is survived by his former sister-in-law, Sara Holtzman, Cumberland; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Palm Springs.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wiefels & Son Funeral Home, Palm Springs.
SARAH E. BEEGHLY
OAKLAND - Sarah E. "Betty" Beeghly, 76, of Ben DeWitt Road, Oakland, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Feb. 22, 1922, in Gortner, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Dora L. (Lichty) Swartzentruber. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Harry R. Beeghly Sr., in 1994; one brother, Herman E. Swartzentruber; and one sister, F. Louella Miller.
Mrs. Beeghly was a member of the Gortner Union Church and was a licensed practical nurse at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland, for many years.
Surviving are one sister, Harriett M. Moon, Oakland; and numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the Gortner Union Church on Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Sauder and the Rev. David Moon officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Gortner cemetery.

VIRGINIA "FIZZ" BECKWARD
CUMBERLAND - Virginia Mae "Fizz" Beckward, 76, of 212 Fulton St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born March 19, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Edith (Hollingsworth) Taylor, Cumberland, and the late Jacob Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Leo Beckward Sr.; and a daughter, Judith Beckward.
Mrs. Beckward was affectionately known as "Fizz." "Fizz" was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance. She was a devoted church member and loved all who knew her. She was a member of Metropolitan A.M.E. Church.
Surviving besides her mother are a son, William Beckward Jr., and wife, Charlene, Cumberland; three daughters, Virginia Stewart, and husband, Daniel, Cumberland, Toni Jones, and husband, Richard, Silver Spring, and Lois Fisher, and husband, Roland, Cumberland; eight grandchildren, Kolette Daniels, William Beckward III, Derik Stephens, Marcus Stephens, Kristal Yates, Hope Beckward, Danielle Stewart, Judy Beckward and Sade Fisher; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; four brothers, Howard Taylor, Cumberland, Ray Taylor, Cumberland, Phillip Taylor, Buffalo, N.Y., and Jacob Taylor, Cumberland; and four sisters, Dorothy Purchase, Washington, D.C., Isabelle Green, Cumberland, Bertha Hurt, Buffalo, N.Y., and Mary Jane Twyman, Cumberland.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
HAZEL B. COMBS
LAVALE - Hazel B. Combs, 89, of the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, formerly of LaVale, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Moorefield, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Jonas L. and Martha E. (Bean) Combs.
She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Guy Herbert, in 1945, LaPorte C., in 1977, and Arley B., in 1987.
Miss Combs, the last surviving member of her immediate family, is survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fay E. Leydig officiating.
Interment will be in the Porter cemetery.
