JAMES L. CHABOT
CRESAPTOWN - James Louis Chabot, 83, formerly of 110 Broadway, Frostburg, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the VA Hospital, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born June 12, 1914, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Catherine (Shea) Chabot. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Isabella (Lashley) Chabot.

Mr. Chabot was retired from the Saga Food Service at Frostburg State University. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg, and the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion and Old Rail Post 6025 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are one son, James E. Chabot and wife Linda, Cresaptown; two grandchildren, Danaill and Nicole Stevenson, Tulsa, Okla.; two step-grandchildren, Dawn and John Kennard; one brother; three sisters; five stepbrothers; and three stepsisters.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

WILFRED H. CHADDERTON SR.
KITZMILLER - Wilfred Harry Chadderton Sr., age 78, of Kitzmiller, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1998, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Deer Park, he was a son of the late Harry Wilfred and Goldie (Griffith) Chadderton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Victoria Loza Chadderton; and one daughter, Mary Ann Johnson.

Mr. Chadderton had been employed as a drywall finisher.

He is survived by two sons, Wilfred H. Chadderton Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., Wilfred F. Chadderton, Kitzmiller; three daughters, Golda Diane Paugh, Maria Victoria Fletcher, both of Kitzmiller, and Susan Jane Sarbaker, Centerville, Va.; a half sister, June Bircher, Sharon, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home, Kitzmiller, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at noon in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be in the King cemetery near Loch Lynn.

ELSIE CHAMP
CUMBERLAND - Elsie Champ, 84, of 13611 Bedford Road, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 26, 1914, in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late William Hampson and the late Jane Hampson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Eston C. Champ, on March 24, 1991.

Mrs. Champ was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, LaVale. She was also a member of the Cumberland Eagles #245, Cumberland Moose, and V.F.W. Henry Hart Post.

Surviving are her son, Raymond Champ and wife, Lee Ann, Carlisle, Pa.; three daughters, June Breeze Lieghty, Baltimore, Sandra Lawrence, Cumberland, and Nancy Bingaman and husband, George, Oldtown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas Hampson, Liverpool, Theodore Hampson, Liverpool; and a sister, Virginia Hampson, Liverpool.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Bishop Steven Grow officiating.

Refreshments will be served after the funeral at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, LaVale.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

MARY LOUISE CAPEL
CUMBERLAND - Mary Louise Capel, 76, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, at Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born June 10, 1921, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Edith (Brinkman) Twigg.

Mrs. Capel was a homemaker. She was a member of Wheaton Moose Lodge #1775.

Surviving are Walter E. Capel, Frostburg; James Cochran, Cumberland; one son, Walter L. Capel and wife, Diane, Damascus; three daughters, Mary Virginia "Ginny" Skidmore and husband, Dale, Eckhart, Carol Stickley and husband, Donald, Albany, Calif., and Julie Crawford and husband, Franklin, Gaithersburg; a special granddaughter, Stephanie Crawford, Damascus; one brother, William Buck Twigg; three sisters, Marie Conrad, Frances Bittner and Arvella Cochran, all of Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Mary Edith "Edie" Garlitz, Frostburg, Sue Stosick, Grantsville, Harry Dale Skidmore II, Frostburg, Tina Twigg, Eckhart, Susan Montoya, California, Johnna Davis, California, Samantha Edison, Ohio; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David G. Hattenfield officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park, Frostburg.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Association.

STELLA I. DAVIS
CUMBERLAND - Stella I. Davis, 87, formerly of Goethe Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998 at the Allegany County Nursing Home.
Born July 5, 1911, in Miners Town, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Sam Ford and the late Jenny (Giffin) Ford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Foster Davis, on May 22, 1942.

She was a former member of Central Assembly of God Church.

Surviving are her son, William H. Davis and wife, Pat, Cumberland; five daughters, Betty Munday and husband, John, Cumberland, Dorothy M. Davis, Cumberland, Mary Smith and husband, Robert, Stafford, Va., Alberta Rose, Cumberland, Naomi Broadway, Bowling Green; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. only.

Services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. David F. Dayhoff officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

PEARLE EVELYN CAMPBELL
SWANTON - Pearle Evelyn Campbell, 89, of Swanton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, in the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, in Oakland.
Born April 8, 1908,, in Swanton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Estella (Glass) Friend. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harry Thrasher and Leroy Campbell.

She was a former store owner in Swanton.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth "Bunny" Kisner, of Deer Park; one grandson, William Kisner, Kitzmiller; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the David A. Burdock Funeral Home in Kitzmiller.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church, Deer Park, with the Rev. Chip Lee officiating.

Interment will be in the Deer Park cemetery.

RAYMOND F. DREES
FINZEL - Raymond F. "Buddy" Drees, 77, of 394 Finzel Road, Finzel, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 26, 1921, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Albert and Pearl (Minnick) Drees. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Drees and Harold Drees.

Mr. Drees was retired as a carpenter of Bridge and Building for Western Maryland Railroad. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 40, Frostburg, and Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Helen (Clark) Drees; two sons, Junior Raymond Drees and wife Dolly, Finzel, and Bernard E. Drees and wife Kimberly, Hagerstown; two daughters, Deborah Green and husband Kenneth and Bonnie Robison and husband John, all of Avilton; one brother, Bernard C. Drees, Finzel; four sisters, Mabel Miller, Schellsburg, Pa., Genevieve Wilhelm, Pocahontas, Pa., Hilda Miller, Pocahontas, and Margaretta Festerman, York, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Monday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Father Paul Byrnes as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Farrady Post 24 American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be members of Old Rail Post 6025 VFW.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department.
