DONALD J. 'JIMMY" JOHNSON
CUMBERLAND - Donald J. 'Jimmy" Johnson, 64, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Dec. 23, 1933, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James M. Johnson and Mary Elizabeth (Simons) Johnson Nave. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Harry A. Nave, and his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth (Twigg) Johnson, in 1995.

Mr. Johnson was a master toolmaker at National Jet Company. He was a life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club and a member of the Bowman's Addition Volunteer Fire Company.

Surviving are three daughters, Patty A. Johnson, Cumberland, Vicki E. Martin and husband, David, Cumberland, Diana L. Couter and husband, John, LaVale; one son, David J. Johnson and wife, Robin, Ellerslie; one sister, Marion V. Valentine and husband, Jesse, Mount Savage; a half-sister, Sherry Arnold and husband, Wayne, Bedford, and a half-brother, Robert H. Nave and wife, Theo, Cresaptown; eight grandchildren, Jason Couter, Christina Couter, Richard R. 'Ritchie" Ricker III, Paul D. Martin, Edward J. Martin, Amy L. Martin, Cynthia M. Martin and Mindy A. Johnson.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David F. Dayhoff officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

LORA M. LOAR
MOUNT SAVAGE - Lora May (Sturtz) Loar, 72, formerly of Mount Savage Road, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998, at Heartland of Brooksville, Brooksville, Fla.
Born Nov. 24, 1925, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. Sturtz Sr. and Lora May (Cross) Sturtz. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Linburgh Loar, in February 1998; three brothers, Robert D. Sturtz Jr., Harvey Sturtz and James Sturtz; and one sister, Mary Katherine Sturtz.

Mrs. Loar was a member of the Frostburg Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are three sons, Bernard L. "Bernie" Loar and wife Joan, Frostburg, Robert J. Loar and wife Gail, Brooksville, Fla., and William H. Loar, Mount Savage; two daughters, Lora M. Thomas and husband Mark, Vallejo, Calif., and Linda E. Case and husband Tony, Barboursville, W.Va.; one sister, Cora Jane Mercer, Mount Savage; one son-in-law, Roy W. Barnes, Midlothian; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with John C. Richmond officiating.

Private interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Home Health Care Hospice of the Western Maryland Health System, 600 Memorial Ave., Cumberland, MD 21502.

ANNE LOGSDON
WHEATON, Ill. - Anne Logsdon (nee Lauder) went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 29 at the DuPage County Convalescent Center in Wheaton, Ill.
Born January 3, 1906, in Lonaconing, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late David and Mary Ann (Eilbeck) Lauder and until recently resided in Indian Rocks, Florida. For the past five years she has lived in Wheaton with her daughter Betty Bowman and grandson Scott Bowman. She is also survived by her granddaughter Beth (Jeffery) Wyatt, and three great grandchildren, as well as her sisters-in-law, Alma Logsdon of Cumberland; Virginia Daugherty of College Park; nephews David Allen (Marie) Lauder of Baltimore; George (Barbara) Lauder of Lonaconing; Calvin (Beverly) Lauder of Annapolis; nieces Alma (Jack) Hare of Cumberland; Shirley England of Cumberland and Norma (Jack) Hare of Cumberland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon in 1987 and was also preceded in death by her sister Agnes Lauder and brothers George and David Lauder.

Anne graduated from Central High School and Western Maryland College, taught at Bruce High School and later at London Bible College. She was a member of the Lonaconing Methodist Church where she also was the organist.

Burial will be in Indian Rocks, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Aid Mission, 3045 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

GEORGE A. LOCKARD
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. - George Adrian Lockard, formerly of Frostburg, Md., passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998, at Mount Clemens General Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1935, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late George and Ruth (Steele) Lockard. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez D. Shimer and Eva M. Rizer.

Mr. Lockard worked at the Detroit News until retirement in 1990. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic, and he was a member of Mount Clemens Eagles and the Mount Clemens Moose.

Surviving are his wife, Betty; three children, James Lockard and wife, Marie-Noel of Pinols, France, Vivi Stout and husband, Mark, Shelby Township, Mich., and Douglas Lockard and wife, Terry, North Lakeport, Mich.; a sister, Helen Twigg and husband, Dale, Frostburg; five grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; two step-children; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, Mount Clemens, with the Rev. Tracie Birkenmaier officiating.

Cremation was private in Evergreen cemetery, Detroit.

FRANCIS J. "FAB" FABBRI SR.
CRESAPTOWN - Francis J. "Fab" Fabbri Sr., 72, of Cresaptown, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born June 26, 1926, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late Lucindo and Benilda (Castellani) Fabbri. He also was preceded in death by five brothers, Olivio Fabbri, William Fabbri, Anthony Fabbri, Marcellio Fabbri, and John Fabbri; and one sister, Lucy Arnone.

Mr. Fabbri was retired from the Kelly-Springfield Tire Company after 38 years of service, and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, was a 38-year member, past President, and Trustee of the Cresaptown Aerie 2883 Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of the Cresaptown Sportsman Club.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Charlotte (Schriver) Fabbri; one son, F. Joe Fabbri Jr., and wife, Toni, Cresaptown; four daughters, Debbie Fabbri Fuller and husband Dr. Clayton Fuller, Delmar, Calif., Karen L. Ward and husband, Larry, Frostburg, Kim M. Von Stein and husband, Gary, Kathy L. Pell and husband, Dave, all of Cresaptown; two brothers, Oliver "Ducky" Fabbri and wife, Fannie, Frostburg, Raymond Fabbri and wife Sylvia, Tampa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Hollie, Chris, Jeffrey, Mandy, Jessica, Garrett, Natalie, Jennifer, Cassie and Nicole; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Cresaptown Fraternal Order of Eagles will conduct a memorial service on Sunday at 7 p.m. and a Christian Wake service will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Monday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Reginald Russo, O.F.M., Cap. as celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Ambrose cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Ted Winebrenner, John Gordon, Danny Lasher, Jim Isner, Pee Wee Anderson, Mike Fabbri, Ralph Hollern and Bing Nee.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chief Lasher, Sam Glenn, Doc Blough, Jim Lease, Scott Pope, Tim Brown and Robert Arnone.

The family requests contributions be made to Cresaptown Junior Order of Eagles, P.O. Box 5127, Cresaptown, MD 21505.

HANNAH E. HAGER
FROSTBURG - Hannah E. Hager, 93, of Route 1 (Shaft) Frostburg, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at her daughter's home in Olney. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Born Nov. 13, 1904, in Midlothian, she was the daughter of the late David and Nellie (Jeffries) Williams, who were among the first settlers in Frosburg.

Mrs. Hager was preceded in death by her husband, Orval W. Hager, on Nov. 28, 1978.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Assembly of God Church in Midlothian, and a Sunday School teacher for 36 years. She also was in charge of fellowship dinners for many years.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by three daughters, Mary O. Penrod and husband, Clyde, Poolesville, Md., Nellie E. Lyons, Shaft, and Alice I. Yommer and husband, Joseph, Olney; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main St., Frostburg, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at Trinity Assembly of God Church, Midlothian, on Friday at 1 p.m. The body will be taken to the church at noon. Pastor Jim Blair and Pastor George Loar will officiate.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Joseph Yommer, Darrell Lyons, Robert Penrod, David Penrod, James Skidmore and Morris Eader.

JOSEPH B. HESS, SR.
FROSTBURG - Joseph B. Hess, Sr., 68, of Frostburg, died peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, surrounded by family after a long illness.
Born April 9, 1929, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late George T. and Avery (Williams) Hess. He also was preceded in death by one son, Richard J. Hess; grandson, Thomas B. Hess; and brother, Jackie Hess.

Mr. Hess retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Company as a machinist. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Legion Farrady Post #24. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who loved the Savage River, where he had a cabin for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Mary (Lancaster) Hess; three sons, Joseph B. Hess, Jr., and wife, Patty, Augusta, W.Va., Robert M. Hess and wife, Tammy, Frostburg, and Thomas G. Hess and wife, Malinda, Frostburg; two granddaughters, Trisha and Torissa; two brothers, George Hess and James Hess, both of Frostburg; one sister, June Timney, Lonaconing; numerous nieces and nephews. All will miss him dearly.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Farrady Post #24.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Fidler, Marshall Lancaster, Joseph Lancaster, Steven Timney, Steven Timney, Jr., and Richard Kerns.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Memorial WMHS, Memorial Avenue, Cumberland, MD 21502.
