MARY A. HICKLE
CUMBERLAND - Mary A. "Maggie" Hickle, 69, of Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Aug. 18, 1928, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Gibson A. and Mary (Mulligan) Meek. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles B. Laing; one son, William A. Bosley; and two brothers, William Meek and Richard Mulligan.
Mrs. Hickle was a homemaker. She was Catholic by faith.
Surviving are her husband, George W. Hickel; one daughter, Susan M. Hillebrecht and husband Jim, Rawlings; one son, David W. Hickle; one stepdaughter, Mary Ellen Plessinger and husband Grover, Walfordsburg, Pa.; one stepson, George W. Hickle Jr. and Brenda Cook, Short Gap, W.Va.; one brother, Robert J. Meek, Virginia Beach, Va.; and 10 grandchildren, Brian L. Kunis, Korey L. Kunis, Kristen M. Hillebrecht, Derek K. Hickle, Emory Plessinger, Tracy Plessinger, Misty Plessinger, Eric Kessler, Corrine Hickle and Kyle Hickle.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Jimmie Flanagan, minister, officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hillebrecht, Junior O'Neal, Chad Furstenberg, Bob Sites, Ralph Hollern and Carper Sensabaugh.
JOHN V. "PAPPY" GRABENSTEIN
CUMBERLAND - Friends will be received for John V. "Pappy" Grabenstein at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Saturday at 10 a.m.
A Christian Wake will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45 p.m.
Interment will be in the SS. Peter and Paul cemetery. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

LORETTA K. HIGGINS
OLDTOWN - Loretta Kathryn Higgins, 95, of 18101 Olive Beltz Road, S.E., Oldtown, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born March 8, 1903, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey Schwartz and the late Pink Priscella (Piquette) Schwartz. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn Jeanne Dorsey Higgins Rysavy, on Sept. 22, 1995.
Mrs. Higgins was a former school teacher in Montgomery County. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cumberland and the Twigg Town Homemakers Club.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene S. Higgins, Oldtown; a son, Dr. Joseph Higgins, Rockville; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Frann Peters, Damascus.
Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Lee Brotemarkle officiating.
Interment will be in Bethesda United Methodist Church cemetery near Damascus.
RONALD K. IMLER
CUMBERLAND - Ronald K. Imler, 59, of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at his residence.
Born Oct. 4, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Leona (Cook) Morgan. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul Imler.
Mr. Imler was owner and operator of H&B; Maintenance Co., Cumberland. He was a member of Cumberland Eagles 245, member American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13, and a social member of the Cumberland VFW Henry Hart Post 1411. He served in the U.S. Reserves Seabees.
Surviving are his wife, Norma (Hamilton) Imler; two daughters, Jamie Bowman, Frostburg, and Ronda Kay Gordon and husband Victor, Cumberland; one son, Paul (Blank) Imler and wife Christine, Cumberland; two stepsons, Rodney Hinkle and wife Debbie, and Steve Hinkle and wife Susan, all of Cumberland; one stepdaughter, Janet Catana and husband John, California; one brother, Richard Iliff Sr., Cumberland; two sisters, Dolores Sills and Paulette Imler-Ahern, both of Cumberland; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Graveside services will be conducted at Restlawn Memorial Gardens on Wednesday at noon with the Rev. Wayne R. Turner officiating. Graveside military services will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

VIVIAN M. GAITHER
CUMBERLAND - Vivian Mary Gaither, 69, of Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born May 27, 1929, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., she was the daughter of Deloras Harriett (Apple) Foreback, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and the late Harry Kenneth Foreback.
Mrs. Gaither was a homemaker and a member of the Salvation Army in Cumberland.
Surviving are her husband, James Willard Gaither; three sons, Gary W. Gaither, Berkeley Springs, Kenneth L. Gaither, Cumberland, Joseph L. Gaither and wife, Suetta, Cumberland; one sister, Margie Foreback Ridgeway and husband, Lewis, Cumberland; two brothers, Harry J. Foreback and wife, Arlene, Cumberland, Richard E. Foreback and wife, Phyllis, Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, Lora Gaither Foose, Jason Gaither, Cory Gaither; one great-grandson, Jason Foose; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Gary W. Barkley officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Zion United Methodist Church cemetery, Great Cacapon, W.Va.
DALE E. HIGHTOWER
EL RENO, Okla. - Funeral services for Dale E. Hightower of El Reno were held Tuesday in the Wesley United Methodist Church with Chaplain Keith Harrison officiating. Burial with military honors was in the El Reno cemetery under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dorsey Hightower.
Mr. Hightower died July 10, 1998, in Oklahoma City. He was born Sept. 25, 1963, in Cumberland, Md. He was a graduate of Russell High School in Kentucky. He served in the Army at Fort Sill and was in the military police, later becoming a correctional officer at the Federal Correctional Institution. He came to El Reno in 1989 and resided here since. Dale was a member of the Local 171 Union.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Alexander) Hightower; two sons, Tyler and Travis; and daughter, Aubrey, all of the home; his mother, Bettie J. (Clopper) Hightower; and brother, Denny Hightower, both of Cumberland; and sister, Jane Hill of Middleville, Mich.
PAUL JOSEPH FAIR
MIDLAND - Paul Joseph Fair, 77, of 14900 Paradise St., Midland, died Saturday, June 20, 1998, as the result of a car accident.
Born June 4, 1921, at Midland, he was a son of the late Francis Fair and Jane (Ready) Fair. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy J. James, Sept. 20, 1983.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, the Holy Name Society, Midland Volunteer Fire Department, John J. Devlin Post #169 American Legion, Midland, Past Member Parish Council of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and Past President of Midland Volunteer Fire Department. He was known as "Mr. Bingo" to the fire company and was one of the founders of Bingo. He was retired from Kelly Springfield, and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Enda (McGann) Fair; one son, Paul T. Fair, and wife, Kimberly, Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Loretta Robertson, Midland, Catherine Cessnick, Midland, Virginia Wilson, Baltimore, Elizabeth Kelley, Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing; one grandson, Jesse J. James, Midland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, P.A., Lonaconing, on Wednesday, June 24, 1998, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Ed Hedricks, as Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Frostburg.
Joint memorial services with the Midland Volunteer Fire Department and the Ladies Auxiliary will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be members of the Midland Volunteer Fire Department.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg.
