ALLAN B. LEMLEY
OAKLAND - Allan B. Lemley, 76, of 426 Lemley Drive, Oakland, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born June 29, 1921, in Waynesburg, Pa., he was a son of the late Floyd N. Lemley and Mary (Haines) Lemley.

Mr. Lemley was a businessman and land developer.

He was a veteran of World War II; member of Proctor-Kildow Post 71, American Legion; and member of Lodge 2481, BPOE.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne B. Lemley; two sons, Don A. Lemley, Oakland, and Bear Lemley, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Denise A. Muenchow, Oakland, and Mary Ann Graehm, London, England; two sisters, Vaun Graham, Library, Pa., and Freda Morris, Huston, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.

Interment will be in the Thayerville cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by local veterans organizations.

The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad.

LORETTA V. GEIGER
MOUNT SAVAGE - Loretta V. Geiger, 98, of Mount Savage, passed from this life to her eternal home in Heaven on Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Nov. 6, 1899, in Mount Savage, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Aquila (Witt) Beal. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Geiger, on July 13, 1957; four brothers; a sister; and two great-grandsons.

She is survived by six daughters, Mary Everline and husband, Paul, Winchester, Va., Esther Geiger, with whom she resided, Virginia Humble and husband, Richard, Circleville, Ohio, Ella Jean Troutman and husband, Harold, R.D. 1, Hyndman, Pauline Sturtz and husband, L.D., Cumberland, and Margaret Ann Hoff and husband, Wilmer, Sykesville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ethel Beal, Cumberland.

Mrs. Geiger was a member of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church, Wellersburg, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with her son-in-law, the Rev. Richard G. Humble, officiating. Interment will be in White Oak cemetery, R.D. 4, Meyersdale, Pa.

JOSEPH E. GEATZ SR.
CUMBERLAND - Joseph Edward Geatz Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Cumberland, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at the Greater Laurel Nursing Home, where he lived the last six years.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, he was the son of the late George "Sonny" Geatz and the late Emma (O'Neill) Geatz. He also was preceded in death by his wife, the former Alverna Mae McIntosh, in 1980.

Surviving are his son, Joseph Geatz Jr., Baltimore; daughter, Joyce Melbourne, Kent Island; stepdaughter, Carol Leasure, Arlington, Va.; sister, Clara Mae Clark, and brother, Thomas Geatz, both of Cumberland; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Geatz served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 202 Combat Engineers Battalion, where he received the Purple Heart for being wounded. He was a member of the Eagles, VFW and American Legion.

Mr. Geatz was a well known baseball player, manager and umpire in and around Cumberland. He was retired from the City of Cumberland, where he last served as superintendent of the water and sanitation division.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Father Thomas R. Bevan officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale. Full military rites will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

IRMA E. FEARER
CUMBERLAND - Mrs. Irma Elizabeth Fearer, 85, of 1000 Bedford Street, Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Memorial Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on June 29, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Clayton L. Zembower and the late Alma (Neff) Zembower. She also was preceded in death by a brother, C. Merle Zembower.
Mrs. Fearer was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She served as President of Lutheran Church Women and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A., a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, a former hospital volunteer, and a former member of the Cumberland Country Club.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, R. Harold Fearer; one son, the Rev. W. Ronald Fearer, retired Lutheran Pastor, and wife, Clover Jean, Waynesboro, Pa.; two grandchildren, Daniel J. Fearer and wife, Jennifer, Long Island. N.J., and Ronda Sprague and husband, Michael, Greencastle, Pa.; five great grandchildren, Samantha and Jonathan Fearer and Stephen, Seth and Samuel Sprague; one brother, W. Glenn Zembower and wife, Joy, Cumberland; one sister, Helen M. McGraw, Cumberland; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Lee Zembower, LaVale.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating. Mrs. Fearer's body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m.

Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Smallwood and Washington Streets, Cumberland.

ROBERT EUGENE "BOB" HOOK
CUMBERLAND - Robert Eugene "Bob" Hook, 64, of 803 Roeth Ave., Cumberland, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 23, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Clarence Earl Hook Sr. and the late Mamie (Martin) Hook. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McCoy.

Mr. Hook was a retired driver for UPS with 23 years of service. He also had been a driver for Potomac Valley Pharmacy and had previously worked at ABL for nine years. He was a member of the American Legion and the AARP. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force - Korea.

Surviving are a wife, Patricia Ann (Winner) Hook, Cumberland; a son, Kevin Patrick Hook, St. Mary's County; a daughter, Cynthia Lou Hook, Cumberland; three brothers, Clarence E. "Sonny" Hook Jr., Cumberland, William M. "Bill" Hook and wife, Margaret A., Cumberland, and George Allen Hook and wife, Margaret C., Cumberland; three sisters, Jeanne Boor, Lovinston, Va., Patricia "Patsy" Dick and husband, Ronald, West Chester, Pa., and Christine DeHaven and husband, Gene, Cumberland; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Rev. Glenn F. Stevens Sr. officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

NANCY L. "GRANNY" GENTRY
FROSTBURG - Nancy L. "Granny" Gentry, 76, of St. Vincent DePaul Nursing Home, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born April 5, 1922, in Thomas, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Lugie and Rose Marchel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Allen Gentry Sr.

Mrs. Gentry was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Surviving are one son, Frederick Gentry Jr., and wife, Barbara, Cumberland; one grandson, Frederick Gentry III; and three sisters.

Graveside services will be conducted at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Fr. Thomas R. Bevan officiating.

The Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

TERESA E. HISER
CUMBERLAND - Teresa E. Hiser, 88, of Turner St., Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998, at the Deviln Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 20, 1910, at Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Harry E. Ritter and Alice B. (Henry) Ritter. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William G. Hiser, on Nov. 11, 1984; three brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Hiser was a graduate of the Maryland Tuberculosis Sanatorium Training School for Nurses, Thurmont; and a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, where she was the longest living member of the church.

Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Anne Mattson, Cumberland; one brother, David C. Ritter, Cresaptown; one sister, Shirley M. Corbin, Cumberland; three granddaughters, Krista D. Mattson-Van and her son and Mrs. Hiser's great-grandson, Jeremy D. Lancaster, Cumberland, Karen D. Mattson, Middletown, and Kari D. Marcoz and husband Major Randy J., Evans, Ga.; two additional great-grandchildren, Ashley D. Marcoz and Tyler J. Marcoz, Evans; a special friend of 70-plus years, E. Grace Moyer, Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
