GLADYS L. GROVE
CUMBERLAND - Gladys LaRue Grove, 85, of Cumberland, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at her residence.
Born Jan. 27, 1913, in Luke, she was the daughter of the late J. Warren and Laura (Streets) LaRue. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald K. Grove, a local surgeon, who died in 1983; one sister, Eleanor Norton; and one brother, Allan LaRue. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Grove was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital. She was supervisor of nurses at Memorial Hospital for eight years, and she taught in the school of nursing for one year. She received her education from Bruce High School, Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, the University of Virginia, and Catherman's Business School. She was a member of Memorial Hospital Nurses Association and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Cumberland Country Club, Women's Civic Club, the Allegany County Historical Society, and the Women's Golf Association of the Cumberland Country Club.

At Mrs. Grove's request, she will be cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating.

EDITH P. HOOVER
LOUISVILLE, Ohio - Edith P. Hoover, 90, of Louisville, formerly of Jennings, died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in Louisville.
Born in Jennings on July 28, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Anna (Hayes) Ryman. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and a brother, Herman Ryman.

Mrs. Hoover was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Louisville.

Surviving are two sisters, Helena Woodward, Pompano, Fla., and Mildred Gero, North Canton, Ohio.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Grantsville cemetery, Grantsville.

The Stier-Israel Funeral Home, 917 E. Main St., Louisville, is in charge of arrangements.

MARGARET M. LAUDER
BARTON - Margaret Mae Lauder, 94, of 12 W. Florida Way, Lonaconing, formerly of Legislative Road, Barton, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born July 21, 1903, at Barton, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Emma (Randall) Kyle. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Lauder, in 1991; three brothers, Edgar Kyle, Robert Kyle and Kenneth Kyle; and three sisters, Bessie Kyle, Sarah Kyle and Alma Kyle.

Mrs. Lauder was a member of Barton United Methodist Church; Allegany County Retired Teachers Association; and Barton Senior Citizens. She was a 1921 graduate of Barton High School. She taught school for one year in Wellerburg, Pa., then attended and graduated from Frostburg Normal School in 1924. She also taught a year at Ellerslie, and a year at Johnson Heights School in Cumberland before transferring to Barton Elementary School, where she taught fifth and sixth grades for 47 years.

In 1977, Margaret compiled and published poems written by her students during her 50 years of teaching. "Keepsakes" represents her lifelong love of poetry and her interest in inspiring her students to write and appreciate this literary form.

Mrs. Lauder is survived by one son, George Lauder and wife Barbara, Lonaconing; one sister, Thelma K. Byers, Barton; three grandsons, George R. Lauder Jr. and wife Maureen, LaVale, David R. Lauder and wife Khrista, Barton, and James A. Lauder, Lafayette, La.; and two great-granddaughters, Claire Lauder and Addie Lauder.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Richard Mortimore.

Interment will be in the Laurel Hill cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in her memory to the Barton United Methodist Church.

DOROTHY T. KREGER
CUMBERLAND - Dorothy T. (Bishop) Kreger, 78, of Ellerslie, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit, Cumberland.
Born May 13, 1919, in Little Orleans, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Cleda A. (Apple) Bishop. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Jackson Kreger; two sons, Thomas Author Kreger and Douglas James Kreger; and one brother, Lester F. Bishop.

Mrs. Kreger was a homemaker. She attended the Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, Cumberland.

Surviving are five daughters, Donna J. Holt, Pemberville, Ohio, Barbara A. Raaum and husband Henry, Great Falls, Mont., Vicky D. Fenton and Pete, Ellerslie, Sandra Y. Engle and husband David, Barrelville, and Jackie Sachs and husband Denver, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; one stepson, Samuel A. Kreger, Great Falls; two sisters, Leoma Orndorff, Warren, Ohio, and Genevieve Twigg, Cumberland; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Pat Kilroy, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Peters officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

ARTHUR FEMI
MORANTOWN - Arthur Femi, 73, of 16725 Femi Lane, Morantown, died Thursday, March 5, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1925, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Nazzareno and Rose (Bisizano) Femi.

Mr. Femi was a retired press operator from the Keyser Refractories, and he was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Piney Mountain Sportsman Club and the Old Rail Post 6025 VFW, Mount Savage.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Almeda (Airhart) Femi; three sons, Arthur Femi and wife Rosalie, Morantown, Ronald Femi and wife Debbie, Louisville, Ky., and Michael Femi, at home; two daughters, Judy Femi, Inwood, W.Va., and Cindy Femi, at home; five sisters, Madeline Femi, Morantown, Patsy Myers, Cumberland, Rosalie Peck, Frostburg, Theresa Dickel, Morantown, and Esther Pantuso, Frostburg; four brothers, Ted Femi, LaVale, Joseph Femi, Morantown, Louis Femi Sr., Frostburg, and William Femi, Morantown; three grandchildren, Troy Femi, Keith Femi and wife Faith, and Lillian Femi; one great-granddaughter, Kaylee Femi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral and committal services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Craig officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Old Rail Post 6025, Mount Savage.

Interment will be at a later date at the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Troy and Keith Femi; nephews, Joseph and Lewis Femi; and friends, William Watkins and James Bashaw.

ELWOOD H. GIFT
LUKE - Elwood H. Gift, 92, of 133 Mullen Ave., Luke, died Thursday, June 25, 1998, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born Sept. 18, 1905, at Bayard, W.Va., he was the son of the late David and Cora (Wotring) Gift.

Mr. Gift was retired with 44 years' service from Westvaco Corporation as a Tour Foreman on #1, 2 & 3 paper machines. He was of the Protestant faith.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Gladys (Iliff) Gift; three sons, Elwood H. Gift, Oak Ridge, Tenn., James Gift and wife, Ruth, Paul Gift, and wife, Betty Lou, all of Westernport; five grandchildren, Andrew Gift, Denver, Colo., Laura Gift, Ithaca, N.Y., Jonathon Gift, Fairfax, Va., Timothy Gift, Oakland, Dana Gift, Columbia; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, June 27, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, at 1 p.m., by the Rev. Ervin Huston.

Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

RAYMOND L. KAMMAUF
CUMBERLAND - Raymond L. Kammauf, 78, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late A.J. and Nellie Mae (Smith) Kammauf. He was also preceded in death by one brother.

Mr. Kammauf retired in 1978 as Plant Superintendent for the Exxon Corporation in Parkersburg, W.Va. He was a member of the first graduating class of Fort Hill High School in 1937. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, the Cumberland B.P.O. Elks #63, the Cumberland Moose #271, the American Legion Fort Cumberland Post #13. He was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program for 12 years. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Cumberland Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Anne (Nichols) Kammauf; two sons, R. Gary Kammauf and wife, Marsha, Cumberland, Randy M. Kammauf and wife, Marion, Cumberland; one sister, Katherine Dailey, Gloucester, N.J.; six grandchildren, Tyler G. Kammauf, Ryan M. Kammauf, Parrish T. Kammauf, Dustin A. Kammauf, Kelly R. Collins and Kevin R. Collins.

At Mr. Kammauf's request, his body was donated to the Maryland Anatomical Board. The family will receive friends at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Saturday from noon until 3 p.m. The Elks Lodge will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 3 p.m., which will be followed by the funeral service with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating.

Contributions may be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 106 Santa Fe St., LaVale, MD 21502.
