EILEEN K. GREEN
CUMBERLAND - Eileen K. Green, 81, of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 21, 1916, in Dodson, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Morgan) Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Green, in 1993.

Mrs. Green was retired from Celanese Corporation. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Surviving are one step-son, W. Edwin Green and wife, JoAnn, Sacramento, Calif.; two step-daughters, Patricia M. Ellison, Sacramento, Anita L. Dunn and husband, Dennis, Modesto, Calif.; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

There will not be any visitation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Reginald Russo officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.

IVA A. FIKE
ACCIDENT - Iva Alice Fike, 89, of 103 Oak St., Accident, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at the Goodwill Mennonite Home.
Born March 15, 1909, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Mary (Humberson) Thayer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Fike, on June 4, 1980.

Mrs. Fike was a retired cook and cafeteria worker for the Garrett County Board of Education. She was Lutheran by faith.

Surviving are one son, Byron Fike, Medina, Ohio; two daughters, Eleanor Teats, Friendsville, and Janet Davis, Accident; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roland E. Nairn III officiating.

Interment will be in the Addison cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Northern Garrett County Rescue Squad.

ELSIE L. FINZEL
CUMBERLAND - Elsie Lillian (Rowley) Finzel, 78, of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Nov. 14, 1919, in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Snelson) Rowley.

Mrs. Finzel is survived by her husband of 56 years, John William Finzel; three sons, John William Jr., married to the former Shirl Stimler, State Line, Pa., Robert Evan "Bob," Wellersburg, Pa., and David W., married to the former Sherry Sipple, Frostburg; a daughter, Elsie Patricia "Pat" Myers, Hyndman, Pa.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Three infant children and a brother, William "Willie" Rowley, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Finzel, a 1938 graduate of Mount Savage High School, was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Services will be conducted at St. George's Episcopal Church, Mount Savage, on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Alice W. Babin officiating.

Interment will be in the St. George's Episcopal cemetery.

B. RUTH GILPIN
SWANTON - B. Ruth Gilpin, 62, of 5872 Bittinger Road, Swanton, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born May 19, 1935, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late James Roosevelt and Bertha Ellen (Hoover) Wilt.

She was a nursing assistant at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Swanton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Gilpin; and one brother, Paul "Pete" Wilt.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Gilpin, East Palestine, Ohio, Larry Gilpin Sr., Swanton; one daughter, Brenda Shoemaker, Swanton; one brother, Homer Wilt, Swanton; four sisters, Genevieve Rinker, Swanton; Josephine Gaither, Swanton, Evelyn Beckman, Swanton, and Doris Gilpin, Hancock; and her companion, Paul Wilhelm; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home on Thursday, April 2, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.

Interment will be in the Rhodes cemetery, Swanton.

Contributions may be made to the Southern Rescue Squad, Oakland.

PHILIP L. KOLPACK SR.
LITTLE ORLEANS - Philip L. Kolpack Sr., age 74, of Mudlick Road, N.E., and formerly of Laurel, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born in Fulton, Md., on Nov. 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Herman and Grace Pierpont Kolpack.

He retired in 1986 as a body repair specialist from Bill Ayers Chevrolet in Laurel after 37 years of service. He moved to Little Orleans in 1988. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He attended the Piney Plains United Methodist Church in Little Orleans.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Fincham Kolpack, whom he married on Oct. 17, 1947; one daughter, Ann Kolpack, Westminster; one son, Philip L. Kolpack Jr., Westminster; two sisters, Nettie Ferris, Columbia, and Cora Miles, Burtonsville; one brother, Donald Kolpack, Columbia; two granddaughters, Angie Butynski, Bloomington, Kristine Kolpack, Westminster; and one grandson, Michael Butynski, Bloomington. He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The Rev. Edward R. Dickel will officiate.

Burial will be in the Piney Plains United Methodist cemetery, Little Orleans.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. on Monday.

RAY THOMAS FIKE
FINZEL - Ray Thomas Fike, 76, of Finzel Road, Finzel, died suddenly on Tuesday, July 7, 1998, at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.
Born Feb. 13, 1922, in Avilton, he was the son of the late Otho and Linnie (Weitzell) Fike. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Laura Eichorn Fannie Fike and Annie Chaney; and one brother, Cecil Fike.

Mr. Fike was retired from the Carpenters Local #1024 in Cumberland, where he was a member for 48 years.

Mr. Fike was a member of the Woodmen of the World, Grantsville Chapter, and an honorary member of the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department where he worked many hours, especially for the spaghetti dinner fund raisers.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Lilly C. (Drees) Fike; four sons, Gary Fike, and wife, Phyllis, Topeka, Kan., Kenneth W. Fike, and wife, Lynn, Frostburg, James R. Fike, and wife, Debbie, Fayetteville, and Dale T. Fike, and special friend, Ealnor Woods, Frostburg; seven grandchildren, Dawn Fike, Aaron Fike, and fiancee, Kay Youtz, Greg Fike, and fiancee, Melissa Miller, Brian Fike, and wife, Marion, Carey Fike, Chris Fike and Amy Fike; two brothers, George Fike, Frostburg, and Harold Fike, Avilton; three sisters, Olive Robeson, Frostburg, Mildred Bell, Somerset, Ohio, and Rose Wilhelm, Avilton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody and the Rev. Dave McKinney officiating.

Interment will be in the Finzel cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Department.
