EMMA "JERRY" HOFF
CUMBERLAND - Emma G. "Jerry" Hoff, 90, of the Allegany County Nursing Home, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at the nursing home.
Born Sept. 18, 1907, in Gallitzen, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Henrietta (O'Skelly) Engelbach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy R. Hoff; one brother, Robert S. Engelbach; and one sister, Inez M. Martin.

Mrs. Hoff was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are one brother, Clarence J. Engelbach and wife, Mary, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Monday at 11 a.m.

A Christian Wake will be conducted Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

Interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Cumberland.

WOODROW A. JACKSON
OAKLAND - Woodrow A. Jackson, 84, of Monte Vista Road, Oakland, died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at the Cuppett-Weeks Nursing Home, Oakland.
Born on Aug. 25, 1913, he is the son of Rosa (Gauer) Jackson and the late Charles Jackson.

He was a coal miner, a truck operator, and had retired from the Sterling Processing Plant.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine V. (Canan) Jackson, Oakland; three daughters, Ruby B. Auvil, Barton, Carol L. Wotring, and husband, Keith, Aurora, W.Va., Ada M. Green, and husband, Ronald, Oakland; one step-daughter, Beverly L. Troshak, and husband, Martin, Oakland; one sister, Goldie Beckman, Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Cecil Jackson, and wife, Jo, Mountain Lake Park, James Jackson, and wife, Judy, Oakland; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, July 27, 1998, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Charles Teets and the Rev. William Martin officiating.

Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland.

RICHARD "DICK" HIXON
CUMBERLAND - Richard William "Dick" Hixon, 86, of the Kensington-Algonquin, formerly of 502 Park St., Cumberland, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 4, 1911, in Spring Gap, he was the son of the late John Daniels Hixon and the late Effie (Eyler) Hixon. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Louise (Phillips) Hixon, on June 26, 1995.

Mr. Hixon was a retired B&O; Railroad general foreman in the store house. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, East Gate Lodge #216 A.F. & A.M., the Senior Citizens of Cumberland, and the Cumberland Chapter #56 Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are four nieces, Dorothy Cornachia Ahern, Ridgeley, W.Va., Bonnie Beery, Wiley Ford, W.Va., Lucille Whisker, Cresaptown, Louise Sampson, Cresaptown; two nephews, Robert Phillips, Virginia Beach, Va., and Carl Sachs, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A.

A Masonic Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Interment will be in the Davis Memorial Park.

HAROLD E. "BARNEY" HUNSECKER
CUMBERLAND - Harold E. "Barney" Hunsecker, 74, of 14325 Walter Drive, S.W., Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Pentagon City Hospital, Arlington, Va. He also resided in Leesburg, Fla. during the winter months for the last 15 years.
Born Nov. 1, 1924, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late John A. Hunsecker and the late Virgie (Henry) Hunsecker. He was preceded in death by one brother; two sisters; and twin daughters, Debra and Sandra Hunsecker.

Mr. Hunsecker was retired from the Sheet Metal Local #100, Washington, D.C. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart for action in Belgium. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a member of Mountain Lodge #099, A.F. & A.M., Mountain Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star, Frostburg, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Leesburg, and Disabled American Veterans Association.

Surviving are his wife, Mary J. (Gordon) Hunsecker; stepmother, Pearl Hunsecker, Chambersburg, Pa.; one son, Dennis Hunsecker and wife, Linda, Tucson, Ariz.; five daughters, Donna Register and husband, Jimmie, New Smyrana Beach, Fla., Linda Curry and husband, David, Cumberland, Karen Shrout and husband, Steve, Falmouth, Va., Patricia Meister and husband, Thomas, Noblesville, Ind., and Luann Hunsecker, Cumberland; one sister, Isabel Mock, Fayetteville, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

At Mr. Hunseker's request, he was cremated, and a private family service will be held at the Maryland State Veterans cemetery, Rocky Gap, Cumberland. The family will hold a memorial service, Dec. 18, 1998, at Kingsley United Methodist Church on Williams Street at 1 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the American Heart Association or to an organization of your choice in his memory.

Arrangements were made by the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, MD 21502.

SYLVIA M. FULK
CUMBERLAND - Sylvia Marie Fulk, 81, formerly of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998, in Ocala, Fla.
Born Oct. 17, 1917, in Akron, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Eva (McKenzie) Werner. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Fulk, in 1967.

Surviving are one daughter, Darla Cowan, Ocala; one son, Frederick Koerner, Lewisberry, Pa.; one sister, Mable Strawser, Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 W. Main St., Frostburg, on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pocahontas, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernard L. White as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Greenville cemetery, Pocahontas.

LEE R. FULLER
CUMBERLAND - Lee R. Fuller, 84, of Woodside Avenue, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born Sept. 14, 1913, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Clifton and Mary Louisa (Wright) Fuller. He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Lee Fuller; and four brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Fuller was retired from PPG Industries, Cumberland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of Cumberland Outdoor Club; and 50-year member of the Cumberland American Legion.

Mr. Fuller was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine (McNabb) Fuller; one daughter, Sue Fuller Barnhart and husband Glenn; two sons, Harry L. Fuller and Theresa Crawford, and James P. Fuller and wife Karen, all of Cumberland; seven grandchildren, Christina Lee Barnhart, Michael Barnhart, David Barnhart, Kim Fuller, Paul Fuller, Beth Fuller and Laura Fuller; and five great-grandchildren, Brady Barnhart, Katie Barnhart, Sarah Barnhart, Timothy Barnhart and D'Averick Spencer.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family requests that contributions be directed to Kingsley United Methodist Church.

CHARLES R. HOLLAR
CATONSVILLE - Charles Richard Hollar, 84, of Baltimore, formerly of Cumberland, died Monday at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore.
He was the son of the late Myra (Skillington) and William Hollar.

He was the beloved husband of Lillian G. (Bird); devoted father of Rita H. Calalang, Richard M. Hollar and Janet G. Lezon; loving grandfather of three; and great-grandfather of three.

He was an auditor for the State of Maryland. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

The family will receive friends at the Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville Inc., 1630 Edmonson Ave., one mile east of Beltway Exit 14, on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.
