AUDREY D. KELLY
CUMBERLAND - Audrey D. Kelly, 71, of Cumberland, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Sept. 29, 1926, in Cresson, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Emmett A. and Iva M. (Donoughe) Dougherty.

Mrs. Kelly was retired as an Allegany County School Teacher after 30 years' teaching at Cresaptown and Northeast Elementary Schools. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, American Association of University Women, Local, State and National Retired Teachers' Associations. She received her Bachelor and Master's degrees from Frostburg State University, formerly Frostburg State Teachers College, and pursued her post graduate studies at Western Maryland College. She was an avid swimmer, reader and gardener; she especially loved roses. Audrey was compassionate and kind to others. This world is a better place because Audrey passed this way.

Surviving are her husband, John D. Kelly; one son, Kevin Kelly, Cumberland; four brothers, Thomas Dougherty and wife, Delores, Franklin Dougherty and wife, Peggy, all of Cumberland, Patrick Dougherty and wife, Mary Jo, Frederick, Michael Dougherty, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two sisters, Ruth Martin and husband, Wellington, Frederick, and Kathleen Houck and husband, Anthony, Springfield, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., Cap. officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Dicken, Larry Gyger, Ronald Monahan, Aaron Clark, Ronnie Null, Nicholas D'Arcangelis and Joseph D'Arcangelis.

VERNA E. JUNKINS
LINCOLN, Maine - Verna Elizabeth Junkins, age 79, of Lincoln, formerly of Deer Park, Md., died on Monday at the home of her son in Lincoln.
She was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Altamont, Md., and was a daughter of the late George F. Comp and Martha (Jackson) Comp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James W. Junkins, in 1985.

Surviving are two sons, Bill Junkins and his wife, Judy, with whom she resided in Lincoln, James Junkins, Monterey, Calif.; one daughter Tammy Dixon and her husband Darrell, Akron, Ohio; one brother, George F. Comp Jr., Deer Park; and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Chip Lee officiating.

Interment will be in the Deer Park cemetery.

The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

CHARLES W. IZZETT
FINZEL - Charles William "Chuck" Izzett, 81, of Pocahontas Road, Finzel, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at his residence.
Born June 8, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Robert James and Zella Marie (Diebert) Izzett. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Frances B. (Horworth) Izzett; and three brothers, Kenneth L. Izzett, James Robert Izzett, and Ivan Eugene Izzett.

Mr. Izzett was employed at the Celanese for 46 years and was a member of Emmanual Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Henry Hart Post 1411; American Legion Fort Cumberland Post 13; Eastern Garrett County Fire Department; and Frostburg Moose Lodge 348.

Surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Izzett Hoover and husband Marvin, Springville, Calif.; a sister, Betty Lee Izzett Cunningham, Ellerslie; a brother, Robert I.M. Izzett, Hyndman, Pa.; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and Aunt Florence Diebert of Oldtown.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jay E. West officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Military rites will be accorded at graveside by combined military organizations.

MARY L. KINNEY
FROSTBURG - Mary Lillian Kinney, 95, of the Frostburg Village Nursing Home, Frostburg, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 7, 1902, in Zihlman, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Nettie (Stevens) Rice. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Kinney, on March 9, 1983.

Mrs. Kinney was retired from the U.S. Treasury Payroll Division. She was a member of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one son, Neil Kinney and wife Elizabeth, Annapolis; and one sister, Belle Lennox, Zihlman.

Mrs. Kenney's body was cremated.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at 2 p.m. in Frostburg Memorial Park with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.

The Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, was in charge of arrangements.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Arthritis Foundation.

CECIL A. GRIMES JR.
CUMBERLAND - Cecil Ashford Grimes Jr., 74, of 510 Park St., Cumberland, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Cecil A. Grimes Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth (Diehl) Grimes. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, Luke Grahame.

Mr. Grimes was the retired owner and operator of Cecil's Corner Cafe on Park Street, and he was a retired employee of C&P; Telephone Company. He was a member of the Maryland Fraternal Order of Police, a life member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Henry Hart Post #1411, F.O.E. #245 Eagles, V.F.W. Distinguished Supporter, member of several bowling leagues, and was a former coach in Little League. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Angela (Grahame) Grimes, Cumberland; five grandchildren, Patricia Grahame, Cumberland, William Eugene Grahame, North Dakota, Angela K. Grahame, Wash., Genevieve Sue Page, Texas, and Patrick Edward Grahame, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with the Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial gardens.

Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

JOHN LUKE KISER
RAWLINGS - John Luke Kiser, 64, of Rawlings, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born April 27, 1934, in Dante, Va., he was the son of the late John and Loma (Phillips) Kiser. He also was preceded in death by Melvin and Harold Dixon.

Mr. Kiser was retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Baltimore.

Surviving are, Carrie Dixon, with whom he resided; one sister, Onea Adington, Baltimore; four brothers, Curtis Kiser, Dante, Herbert Kiser, Abington, Va., Darel Kiser, Mechanicsville, Arthur Kiser, Dante. Also surviving are, Allen Dixon, Carlisle, Pa., Ruth Kenney, Romney, W.Va., Venda Shock, Cumberland, Leona Petrus, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mary Miner, Casselville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Kiser's request he will be cremated.

There will be no memorial service.

Scarpelli Funeral Home P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., is in charge of arrangements.

RAYMOND E. KIRBY
CUMBERLAND - The Rev. Raymond Ellsworth Kirby, 86, of Ellerslie, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 9, 1912, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late William Howard Kirby and the late Matilda (Frankenberry) Kirby.

Rev. Kirby was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. He also was a retired pastor of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Fort Ashby, W.Va., where he served as pastor for 35 years. He was interim pastor to many Assembly of God churches in the tri-state area. Since retirement, he was a member of the LaVale Chapel Assembly of God. While an instructor at Zion Bible Institute, he received an honorary doctorate degree.

Surviving are a wife, Kathleen A. (Beal) Kirby, Ellerslie; a son, Donald W. Kirby and wife Barbara, Caldeonia, Miss.; a daughter, Grace N. Ringer and husband Robert L., Ellerslie; a brother, Robert Kirby, Winston Salem, N.C.; a sister, Mabel Elliott, Carlisle, Pa.; three grandchildren, Kathy Morrison and husband Tim, Columbia, S.C., Kristy Wilcox and husband Tim, Caldeonia, Robin Rene Ringer, Ellerslie; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew and Emilee Wilcox, Caldeonia, and Kevin Morrison, Columbia, S.C.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Central Assembly of God Church, Bedford Road, Cumberland, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen M. Schuessler officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rev. Kirby's nephews, Jim Kennell, Kenneth Kennell, Leonard Blank, John Twigg, Bob Often and Terry Beal.
