RALPH V. LEIGHTON
OAKLAND - Ralph V. Leighton, 82, of Oakland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, while at his home.
Born Dec. 29, 1915, at Swallow Falls, he was a son of the late Oliver Richard Leighton and Laura (Sines) Leighton. He also was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell, Clarence, Floyd and Alvie Leighton; and one step-grandson, Gregory Schrock.

Mr. Leighton was employed by Leighton Bros. Garage, and later as owner of Hawkison Tread Service in Oakland. He started his own business of building homes in the 1960s, which he did until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Edith (Kitzmiller) Leighton; one daughter, JoAnn Storey Schrock, Oakland; two grandchildren, Susan Storey Hinebaugh and Matthew Storey III; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Hinebaugh, Matthew Steven Storey, Jesse Tyler Storey and Robert Ward.

Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Leatherman officiating.

Interment will be in the Garrett County Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Southern Garrett Rescue Squad or the Mountain Lake Independent Baptist Church.

HOWARD P. KEIPER
LEWISTON, N.Y. - Howard P. Keiper, 80, of Page Avenue, Lewiston, died Aug. 20, 1998.
He was the husband of Kathleen (Dodge) Keiper; father of Ray (Virginia) Keiper, Lewiston, Mrs. William (Barbara) Price, Youngstown, and Mrs. Rodney (Susan) Eick, Charlotte, N.C. He also is survived by two half brothers, Edwin Keiper, McConnellsburg, Pa., and Harry Keiper, Falls Church, Va.; a half sister, Mae Ford, Arlington, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Hardison Funeral Homes Inc., North Fourth and Ridge streets, Lewiston, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 915 Oneida St., Lewiston, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Milan Slahor officiating.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church, Lewiston, or Niagara Hospice Inc., 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.

JAMES KITZMILLER
MANASSAS PARK, Va. - James Kitzmiller, of Manassas Park, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax.
Mr. Kitzmiller is the son of the late Ocie "Frank" Kitzmiller and May Warnick Kitzmiller, of Midland, Md.

Surviving are his wife, Elmeda Wilt Kitzmiller; three children, Betty Kitzmiller, Manassas, Bonnie Wilkerson, Herndon, and Jim Kitzmiller Jr., Linden; five grandchildren, Tracy Wilkerson, Charlotte Vance, Charlie Wilkerson, Nicole Wilkerson and Brandee Kitzmiller; a brother, Harry Kitzmiller, New Lebanon, N.Y.; and a sister, Zella Kitzmiller Keenan, Sterling.

Viewings will be held at the Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., and at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the Newman Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in the Grantsville cemetery.

ELLEN E. KOSTICK
CUMBERLAND - Ellen Elizabeth Kostick, age 74, formerly of Queen City Towers, died Sunday, July 12, 1998, at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
She was born Feb. 26, 1924, in Fort Loudon, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kostick.

Surviving are three brothers, John Harding, Six Mile Run, Pa., William Rhodes, Chambersburg, Pa., Junior Layton, Flintstone; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Janet Sirbaugh, Flintstone; and several great nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or funeral services.

Interment will be private.

The Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.

EUGENE R. KELLEY
CUMBERLAND - Eugene Russell Kelley, 81, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Florida L. Kelley. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Regina L. Fleckinger and Edith G. Kelley; and three brothers, Frank H. Kelley, Joseph D. Kelley, and William T. Kelley.

Mr. Kelley was retired from the Celanese Corp., Cumberland, and was a freelance photographer. He was the founder of Mohawk Boxing Club of Virginia Avenue, and was one of the founders of the Has Been Boxing Club Inc. Mr. Kelley was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Oshkosh, Wisc., OX 5 Aviation-Pioneers, and Mexico Farms E.A.A. Chapter 426.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, June (Brenneman) Kelley; one sister, Bernadette A. Kelley, Cumberland; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Kelley; nephew Joseph Kelley and niece Betty Welch; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Merdith C. Shryock officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

BETTY D. HAMPTON
STEPHENS CITY, Va. - Betty Delores Hampton, 60, of Stephens City, Va., died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester.
Born Nov. 21, 1937, in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of Thelma Reola (Melton) Chresso, Cumberland, and the late Elbert Calvin Hampton.

Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Dennis Wayne Hampton; four daughters, Janet D. Smoot, and husband, Larry, Quicksburg, Va.; Glenda D. Herzog, and husband, Ron, Coral Gables, Fla.; Karen D. Pompell, and husband, Robert, Hagerstown, Md., Cathy Houchins, Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor J. Gary Butler officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Cumberland.

DONALD W. HANEY
LAVALE - Donald William Haney 67, of LaVale, died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount, N.C.
Born Oct. 26, 1930, in Ford Cliff, Pa., he was the son of the late William Haney and Norma (Pepper) Haney.

Mr. Haney was a retired employee of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran; member of LaVale United Methodist Church; president and business agent of Local 7 H.E.R.E.; secretary/treasurer of the Western Maryland Central Labor Council; delegate to Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO; past COPE director of the Labor Council; life member of Kittanning (Pa.) Elks; and life member of Henry Hart VFW Post, Cumberland.

Surviving are his wife Delores (Creel) Haney; two sons, Dennis W. Haney and wife Kay, Pasadena, and Douglas J. Haney and wife Kimberly, Wilson. N.C.; one daughter D. Lynn Poorbaugh and husband Douglas, Newville, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Jenna Lynn Haney, and Brandon William Haney.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and at the Welsh Funeral Home, Ford City, Pa., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the Welsh Funeral Home on Monday at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in the Ford City cemetery, Ford Cliff, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or R.P. Foundation, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore.
