GLENN E. LANDIS
CUMBERLAND - Glenn E. Landis, 69, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at his home.
Born Feb. 20, 1929, in Somerset, Pa., he was the son of Zella A. Landis of Cumberland and the late Emmons William Landis. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Dale E. Landis.

Mr. Landis was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and the American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Ruby M. (Mauk) Landis; two sons, Mark E. Landis, Lancaster, Calif., and Steven L. Landis and adopted son, Wesley T. Brown, both of Cumberland; one grandson, Mark E. Landis Jr.; two nieces, Joyce Maiers and Linda Wilson; one great-niece; four great-nephews; four great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be no visitation Friday.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Sherrill A. Dillon officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

WILLIAM C. LANDIS
CUMBERLAND - William C. Landis, 85, of Bierman Drive, formerly of Oak Street, Cumberland, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born July 10, 1913, in Romney, W.Va., he was the son of the late Abraham Scott and Mary Ellen (Reed) Landis. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Grace (Taylor) Landis, in 1990; one daughter, Bonnie Louise (Landis) Dyer, in 1984; seven brothers; and four sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Landis was retired from the Kelly Springfield Tire Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was former High Priest group leader of the Ward, arranged monthly trips to Washington, D.C., Temple, and served as Branch President, Sunday School Superintendent, Auditor, High Councilor and home teacher for the church.

Surviving are one daughter, Darlene E. Spencer and husband Eugene R., Mexico Farms; five grandchildren, Shanan Spencer, Mexico Farms, Shirleen Moore and husband David, Cumberland, Will Spencer, Mexico Farms, Carla Weidman and husband Greg, Pittsburgh, and Nikki Critchlow and husband Mike, Pittsburgh; and three great-grandchildren, Jeffery Moore, Kyra Weidman and Brandon Critchlow.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Monday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Steven Grow officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.

NOLA MAY LANE
RAWLINGS - Nola May Lane, 85, of Rawlings, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Perryville on Feb. 20, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Belinda Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lane; and a son, Frank E. Clark.

Mrs. Lane was a machine operator of the Eastern Venetian Blind Company.

She is survived by a daughter, Judith Holbrook and husband, William, of Rawlings; a brother, Charles Clark and wife, Kay, Baltimore; a sister, Elsie Reynolds of Chester, Pa. She also is survived by 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., Cresaptown, on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home immediately after the visitation by the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Trail.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary Trail officiating.

Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

BRUCE WADE LANTZ
CUMBERLAND - Bruce Wade Lantz, 27, of 308 Park St., Cumberland, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 30, 1970, in Cumberland, he was the son of Deborah (Dicken) Lantz, of Cumberland, and the late Bruce "Sam" William Lantz.

Mr. Lantz was employed by Kinco Construction Company.

Besides his mother, he is survived by a maternal grandmother, Mary Dicken, Cumberland; three sisters, Monica Lantz, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Melanie Lantz with the Air Force in Germany, and Brandy Mosco and husband, David, Fayette City, Pa.; a niece, Ariel Marie Powell, Fort Ashby; a nephew, David Gean Mosco, Fayette City; a girl friend, Lynn Ann Kasecamp, Cumberland; and a stepdaughter, Jerica Brooke Runk, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., with Margie George officiating.

WILLIAM "BILL" LANTZ
BALTIMORE, Ohio - William "Bill" Jay Lantz, 75, of Baltimore, former resident of Lancaster, died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Heartland-Fairfield Nursing Center.
He was a retired USAF Staff Sargent E-5 with 21 years' service, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also was retired from the U.S. Post Office in Columbus and Lancaster. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Darlene Lantz, and Bruce and Teg Lantz, all of Lancaster; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dana Stewart, Baltimore; four grandchildren, Gary Bell, Cindy, Dave and Mindy Lantz, all of Lancaster; sister, Emmy Huffman of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah "Sally" Lantz; parents, David and Hattie Lantz; two sisters, Suevera Kellogg and Texie Ann Ketterman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard will conduct military rites at the cemetery.

MILDRED S. LAPORTA
ECKHART - Mildred S. LaPorta, 84, of Eckhart, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born May 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Minnie (Dudley) Stewart. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. LaPorta was a 51-year member of the Eckhart Baptist Church where she was custodian for 40 years.

She was a member of the Eckhart Homemakers.

Surviving are her husband, Leo LaPorta; one son, Alan "Mick" LaPorta and wife, Jeanne, Frostburg; and two grandchildren, Julie O'Connor and husband, John, Frostburg, Mick LaPorta, Eckhart and fiancee, Theresa Patton.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., 60 West Main St., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard L. Metrick officiating.

Interment will be in Eckhart cemetery.

ALEXIS C. LEMMERT
FROSTBURG - Alexis Conrad Lemmert, 51, of Severn, formerly of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at North Arundel Hospital.
Born April 12, 1947, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Iola (Morgan) Conrad. She also was preceded in death by a brother, William Conrad.

Mrs. Lemmert was employed by the Maryland State Police in Glen Burnie. She was a member of Welsh Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, James W. Lemmert; one daughter, Cynthia Joan Baldwin and husband Jeff, Japan; one brother, Paul Conrad and wife Maxine, Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sisters, Joan Thompson, Cresaptown, Shirley Barry and husband Joe, Towson, and Isabel Rankin and husband Tom, Frostburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, P.A., Frostburg, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. William G. Boyer and the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Lemmert, Douglas Lemmert, Richard Lemmert, James Drew, Craig Thomas Rankin and Dennis Patterson.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
