ERIC WADE THOMAS
CUMBERLAND - Eric Wade Thomas, 28, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, June 10, 1998, at his residence.
Born April 15, 1970, in Cumberland, he was the son of Walter Meade Thomas and Shirley Rae (Mellott) Thomas, Mechanicsville.

Mr. Thomas had been employed as a plumber.

He was Lutheran by faith, and was a member of the Gold Miner Association.

In addition to being survived by his parents, he was the beloved husband of Krista (Twigg) Thomas; devoted father of two sons, Curtis and Joseph Thomas, at home; and two daughters, Madison and Sarah Thomas, at home; one brother, Jeffrey Thomas, Mechanicsville; his maternal grandparents, Ray and Margaret (Dawson) Mellott, Corriganville; and his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Thomas, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., corner of Greene and Smallwood streets, Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

JAMES R. THOMAS
FROSTBURG - James Russell Thomas, 77, of 5 Centennial St., Frostburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Jan. 15, 1921, in Reynolds, he was the son of the late Robert T. and Nellie (Russell) Thomas, Sr. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Delaney; and three brothers, William H. Thomas, John O. "Dodie" Thomas, and George "Pooze" Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was a retired shipping supervisor from the Kaiser Refractories.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Theresa (Sacco) Thomas; one son, John M. Thomas and wife, Linda, Frostburg; two daughters, Patricia T. White and husband, W.E. "Skip," Silver Spring, Linda T. Burl and husband, Artie, Westernport; one brother, Robert T. Thomas, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Julie C. White, Silver Spring, Brittany and Logan Thomas, Frostburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Thomas' request, his body was cremated. There will be no visitation or services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg.

The family request memorials be directed to the Percy cemetery Memorial Fund in care of Michael Olson, 10153 Piney Mountain Road, S.W., Frostburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg.

RALPH THOMAS
FRIENDSVILLE - Ralph Thomas, 91, of 270 Fearer Road, Friendsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, at his residence.
Born June 2, 1907, in Selbysport, he was the son of the late Ephram and Minnie (Dietrick) Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve (Cole) Thomas, in 1982, and is the last surviving member of his family.

Mr. Thomas had been employed in air conditioning services prior to his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8769, Friendsville.

He is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Hickerson, and husband, Dan, of Amissville, Va.; one son, Col. Jesse A. Thomas and wife, Sandy, Greencastle, Pa.; five grandchildren, Jennie and Maria Hickerson, Drew, Tara and Trisha Thomas; and great-granddaughter, Vanessa Hickerson. Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Friendsville, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be in Asher Glade cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Friendsville V.F.W. Post #8769. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Asher Glade Church of the Brethren.

THELMA Z. THOMAS
CUMBERLAND - Thelma Zea Thomas, of Cumberland, born Oct. 31, 1908, in Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on her 90th birthday.
She was the daughter of the late Ward B. and Maude (Baber) Sonner. She was prececed in death by her husband, Casper "Casey" Thomas.

Mrs. Thomas was retired from the Memorial Hospital in the dietary department. She actively participated in the R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) by making baby afghans for the Healthy Start Program.

Surviving are five children, Donald Ward Thomas and wife, JoAnn, Jacksonville, N.C., Betty Lou Donahoe, at home, Nancy Lee Brison and husband, Donal, Baltimore, Robert Casper Thomas and wife, Eve, Washington, D.C., Linda Zea DeDad. She also mothered the children of her deceased sister, Vivian Walsh: Mary Virginia "Sunny" Rogers, Oklahoma City, Okla., Joann Allen, Cumberland, Elbert "Pete" Walsh, Alexandria, Va.; eight grandchildren, Trinia Donahoe Miller and husband, Don, Elmer, N.J., Pama Hart Wilson, Cumberland, Donald Thomas, Wilmington, N.C., Karen Lee Brison, Baltimore, Andrew DeDad, Olney, Nanette Sauceda and husband, David, Elgin, Ill., Cara Christy Witmer and husband, Mike, Gaithersburg, Morgan Thomas, Washington, D.C.; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan Miller, Elmer N.J., Casey Zea Hart, Cumberland, Amanda and Justin Witmer, Gaithersburg, Tyler DeDad, Rockville, and Christian Sauceda, Elgin, Ill. She is also survived by the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of her sister Vivian.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Beatrice Bledsoe officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Miller, Jonathan Miller, Dean Walsh, Andrew DeDad, Donald Thomas and Don Miller.

MARIE J. THOMPSON
WESTERNPORT - Marie J. Thompson, 96, of Moran Manor, formerly of Westernport, died Dec. 24, 1998.
She was the daughter of the late Ed Gillespie and Anna (Luciene) Gillespie. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thompson; one sister, Margaret Gillespie; and two daughters, Mary John Davis and Francis Ritchie; and one grandson, Billy Davis.

She is survived by two sons, James E. Thompson and wife, Phyllis, Westernport, and Joseph P. Thompson and wife, Eloise, Westernport; one sister, Theresa Blackburn, Baltimore; and two sons-in-law, Pete Ritchie, Cumberland, and William Davis, Barton; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #155 of Westernport.

At her request her body will be cremated.

Friends will be received at St. Peters Catholic Church on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., with a memorial mass being held at 1 p.m. with Father Jim Hannon officiating.

Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.

MARIE J. THOMPSON
WESTERNPORT - Marie J. Thompson, 96, of Moran Manor, formerly of Westernport, died Dec. 24, 1998.
She was the daughter of the late Ed Gillespie and Anna Luciena (Stowell) Gillespie. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thompson; one sister, Marguerite Gillespie; a brother, Edward Gillespie; two daughters, Mary John Davis and Frances Ritchie; and one grandson, Billy Davis.

She is survived by two sons, James E. Thompson and wife, Phyllis, Westernport, and Joseph P. Thompson and wife, Eloise, Westernport; one sister, Theresa Blackburn, Baltimore; and two sons-in-law, Pete Ritchie, Cumberland and William Davis, Barton; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #155 of Westernport.

At her request her body will be cremated.

Friends will be received at St. Peters Catholic Church on Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m., with a memorial mass being held at 1 p.m. with Father Jim Hannon officiating.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peters School, Westernport.

WILFRED THOMPSON JR.
FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Wilfred A. Thompson Jr., 71, of Mayfair Drive, Falls Church, a former resident of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at Arlington Hospital, Arlington.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, at Cumberland, he was the son of Wilfred A. "Tommy" Thompson Sr., Cumberland, and the late Dorothy V. (Keyser) Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a retired employee of the Transportation Department of the Federal Government in Washington, D.C. He was a graduate of LaSalle High School, Class of 1943, and he was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II in the Pacific.

In addition to his father, survivors include his wife, Judy (Feromonti) Thompson; and one daughter, Deborah Thompson, Falls Church.

A memorial service was held in Fairfax County, and burial will be at Arlingtion National cemetery, Washington, D.C.

The Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., Cumberland, is in charge of local arrangements.
