TODD R. ABE
CUMBERLAND - Todd Ray Abe, 21, of Oak Street, Cumberland, went to be with Jesus along with his aunt, Dianna Brown, on Wednesday, March 26, 1997. Todd passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Aug. 3, 1975, in Cumberland, Todd was a 1994 graduate of Fort Hill High School. He attended the Livingstone Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are a special aunt, "Mom" Joan Fryant, Pennsville, N.J.; his father and stepmother, Rick and Wendy Abe, Cumberland; his grandfather, Ivan Abe and stepgrandmother Edna, Cumberland; his grandmother, Aileen Abe; his great-grandmother, Ellen Lepley, Cumberland; special friend, Teresa Hackett, N.J.; three brothers, Nicholas Tabler, at home, Jessie and John Dillsworth, at home; one sister, Melanie Abe, at home; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
A joint funeral service with his aunt Dianna Brown will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Timothy Monn officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles Smith Jr., Josh Zembower, Sam Warner, Ron Beerhalter, Bill Beerhalter, and Ricky Bosley Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Clark, Dale Wright Jr., and Brooks Warner III.
RAYLEEN M. HERSHBERGER
KITZMILLER - Rayleen Michelle Hershberger, seven weeks old, of Kitzmiller Road, Kitzmiller, went to be with the angels in heaven on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., due to complications following surgery.
Born Aug. 28, 1997, in Cumberland, she was the loving daughter of Johnny R. and Cathleen E. (Lipscomb) Hershberger. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Hugh L. and Geraldine D. (DeWitt) Lipscomb.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandparents, John L. and Thelma J. (Thompson) Hershberger, Kitzmiller; three uncles, Todd Hershberger and fiancee Lee Ann, Sterling, Va., Terry Hershberger, Kitzmiller, and Johnny Lipscomb and wife Tracy, Swanton; one aunt, Donna (Crim) Lipscomb, Oakland; and three special friends, Linda and Harold Swauger and Nancy Friend.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oakland, on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Interment will be in Deer Park cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday evening at 8 p.m.
HAROLD W. FAZENBAKER
GRANTSVILLE - Harold William Fazenbaker, 76, of 451 Bear Hill Road, Grantsville, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 1997, at Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born Feb. 4, 1921, at Bittinger, he was a son of the late Elbert Vincent and Lettie (Wilt) Fazenbaker. Mr. Fazenbaker worked at CCC Camps in Maryland and Virginia prior to World War II. During the war, he served as a private in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are three brothers, Herman, Elbert Eugene, and Herbert Fazenbaker, all of Grantsville; and two sisters, Beulah Ferrari, Baltimore, and Mary Jane Albright, Meyersdale, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George Plants officiating.
Interment will be in Bittinger cemetery.
HELEN E. HUTCHINSON
WESTERNPORT - Helen E. Hutchinson, 85, of 107 Howard St., Westernport, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born May 27, 1912, in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Charlotte (Kight) Wagner.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, W.Va., a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are her husband, Howard E. Hutchinson, Westernport; one daughter, Janice Moran and husband Jim "Sid"; and two grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Moran, all of Columbia.
Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, Piedmont, on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
Interment will follow in Philos cemetery, Westernport.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
JAMES M. DIEHL
SUNDERLAND - James M. Diehl, 81, of Sunderland, died Monday, Aug. 18, 1997, at his residence.
Born Sept. 9, 1915, in Ridgeley, W.Va., he was preceded in death by his wife, Ina "Gerry" Diehl; and one daughter, Ina Lee Gilbert.
Mr. Diehl was a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a railroad clerk and later as a supervisor of registry.
Surviving are three grandchildren, Tracey A. Benden, Glenndale, Kerry L. Gilbert, Sunderland, and Richard M. Gilbert, Bowie; a brother, Kyle Diehl, Cumberland; a son-in-law, Charles R. Gilbert, Sunderland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Rausch Funeral Home, Owings, on Thursday, Aug. 21, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Russell B. McClatchey, of Mount Harmony United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment was in Fort Lincoln cemetery, Brentwood.

WILLIAM C. HOUGH
CUMBERLAND - William Clarence "Bud" Hough, 87, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
Born Feb. 17, 1910, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Raymond and Carrie Belle (Moorehead) Hough. He also was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred Payne, Evelyn Burke, and Helen Hough.
Mr. Hough was a retired carman for the B&O; Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a 1929 graduate of Pennsylvania Avenue High School, a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and the men's Bible class. He also was a member of VFW Henry Hart Post No. 1411, and American Legion Fort Cumberland Post No. 13.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley R. (White) Hough; one sister, Adalee Schaidt, Cumberland; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Jewell officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
GENEVIEVE E. CATON
FROSTBURG - Genevieve "Gennie" Rizer Caton, born in Frostburg on March 20, 1927, died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, at Georgetown University Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late James Walter Rizer and Mary Ann (Eisentrout) Rizer.
Gennie had worked as a waitress and cook for most of her life until retiring in 1991 from Bob's Big Boy in Laurel. She enjoyed the ocean and camping and most of all, devoted her life to spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Marsha Caton Cadwalader of Waldorf, Larry Allen Caton of Laurel, Tammy Caton McCloud of Lexington Park, James William Caton of Glen Burnie and her grandchildren, Allen Lee and Melissa Rafferty; Jessica Kress, Adam Joseph and Sarah Ellen Cadwalader; Kristina Lea and James Bradley Caton.
A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11416 Cedar Lane, Beltsville, on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the CCC Unit, Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, D.C. in her name.
