HILDA V. FRANKENBERRY
CUMBERLAND - Hilda Virginia Frankenberry, 74, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1997, at Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born July 19, 1923, in Cresaptown, she was a daughter of the late Christopher Milton Snyder and the late Hilda Juanita Lea Faye (Hershberger) Snyder.

Mrs. Frankenberry was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are one son, Ronald C. Frankenberry, Forest Hill; two daughters, Lynda K. Pfeffer and husband Richard, Forest Hill, and Carla S. Shober and husband Richard, Jr., Cumberland; two sisters, Wilma Snyder, Cresaptown, and Ruth Ann Babcock and husband Rev. Theron, Cresaptown; three grandchildren, Pamela Brink, Baltimore, Cynthia Pfeffer, Forest Hill, and Sheila Pfeffer, Forest Hill.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Korns officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Ricewick Sr., Robert Stevenson, Calvin Jones, Robert Crump, Richard Shober Sr., Gilbert Frankenberry, and James Ricewick Jr.

RUTH E. DICKINSON
FROSTBURG - Ruth Eleanor Dickinson, 78, of Frostburg, died Monday, June 9, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born April 29, 1919, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances Pauline (Utterback) Dickinson. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Albert, and Peter Dickinson.

Miss Dickinson was retired from Spoerl's, where she worked as a bookkeeper and title clerk.

Surviving are one niece, and several nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 12, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Doug Strother officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association, 11 Columbia St., Cumberland, MD 21502.

RALPH L. ABE (Services)
CUMBERLAND - Friends will be received for Ralph L. Abe at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Everett cemetery, Ridgeley, W.Va.

CARL N. GRIFFITH
CUMBERLAND - Carl Newton Griffith, 87, of Cumberland, died Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at Poling's Personal Care Home, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 9, 1919, in the Cove, Md., he was a son of the late Jackson and Savilla (Leighty) Griffith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel (Schlossnagel) Griffith; a son, Kenneth; and a daughter, Luella Friend.

Mr. Griffith was a Methodist by faith and was a retired custodian for Timken Roller Bearing, Canton, Ohio.

He is survived by his son-in-law, James Rickey Friend, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Corinna Cessna, Cresaptown, Steven Friend, Smithsburg, and Thomas Friend, Hyndman, Pa.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Robinson officiating.

Interment will be in the Hetz cemetery.

MERLE R. ABE
MOUNT SAVAGE - Merle Richard Abe, 72, of Mount Savage, died Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at his residence.
Born in Fort Ashby, W.Va., Aug. 31, 1924, he was the son of Lucy Virginia (Wright) Abe, Sarasota, Fla., and the late Clarence Raymond Abe.

Mr. Abe was a maintenance electrician at Kansas City Community College, Kansas City, Kan. He retired in 1988. He was a U.S. Navy Seaman First Class in World War II. Mr. Abe was a member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren. He was a graduate of Fort Ashby High School in 1943. He graduated from the Lincoln School of Welding, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1949. He was a charter member of the Brethren Church, Bradenton, Fla. He worked as a home missionary, Kansas City, Kan. He also enjoyed his home woodworking shop.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Mary Louise (Bennett) Abe; a son, the Rev. Stephen E. Abe and wife Susan, Elkins, W.Va.; a daughter, Constance (Abe) Reyes and husband the Rev. Carlos R. Reyes, Mount Savage.; three sisters, G. Dimple Ward and husband Lee, Rochester, N.Y., Esther V. Foltz and husband Willis, Inwood, W.Va., and Marion A. Morgan, Sarasota, Fla.; three granddaughters, Joanna and Stephanie Abe, Elkins, W.Va., and Tabitha Blair, Mount Savage.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Calvin Roop, the Rev. Stephen E. Abe and the Rev. Carlos R. Reyes officiating.

Interment will be in the Abe cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Bennett, Kenneth Bennett, Carl Legeer, Bryce Legeer, Alvin Conner and Randy Shaner.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren or to the American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, MD 21502

MARIAN E. SOETHE HUTSON
CUMBERLAND - Marian E. Soethe Hutson, 72, of Cumberland died Tuesday, June 17, 1997, at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 6, 1925, in Davis, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Emmart and Texa (Flanigan) Emmart Kuhns. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Howard M. Kuhns; first husband, Louis C. Soethe; and second husband Brace L. Hutson.

Mrs. Hutson was a former employee of the Cumberland Savings Bank, and she was Office Secretary for the Locale Teamsters, member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1942.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen L. Raupach, Raleigh, N.C.; Terri L. Harper and husband Patrick with whom she resided; one son-in-law, Earl W. Raupach Jr.; seven grandchildren, Ragan L. Raupach, Sarah Beth Raupach, Jessica L. Raupach, Mathew M. Laber, and Patrick J. "P.J." Harper.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be held on Thursday at 8:45 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Friday, at 10 a.m. with Father Vance Pastorius, OFM, Cap., as celebrant.

Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul cemetery.

NELLIE L. CATON
LAVALE - Nellie L. Caton, 90, of Trestle Bridge Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997 at Lions Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland.
Born May 14, 1907 in Finzel, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Hydie (Winebrenner) Eisler. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Calvert Klink, Robert Shroyer and Clifford Caton; two sons, Bill Klink and Donald Klink; two daughters-in-law, Bertha Klink and Helen Klink; one brother; and three sisters.

Mrs. Caton was a homemaker. She was a member of the Frostburg Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary; Frostburg Women of the Moose Chapter #221; Farrady Unit #24 American Legion Auxiliary; V.F.W. #1411 Cumberland Ladies Auxiliary; a Life Member of the Eastern Garrett County Volunteer Fire Company; and she was active in the women's shuffleboard league.

Surviving are one brother, Earl A. Eisler, Finzel; four sons, Harold C. Klink, Frostburg, Robert T. Klink, Mercer, Pa., James O. Klink and wife, Norma, Transfer, Pa., and Louis R. Shroyer and wife, Nancy, LaVale; one daughter, Hilda J. Loar and husband, Lee, Eckhart; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; four step-great, great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Penick officiating.

Pallbearers will be Alan Klink, Howard Klink, Leslie Klink, Chris Loar, David Loar and Martin Jones.

Interment will be in the Emmanuel Methodist cemetery in Finzel.
