NEVA S. DICK
WESTERNPORT - Neva Sara Dick, 89, of 518 Maryland Ave., Westernport, died Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at her residence.
Born Sept. 28, 1907, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Lillie (Hartman) Gipe. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Dick in 1974; one brother, Lester Gipe; and one sister Elsie Starling.
Mrs. Dick was a homemaker and a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Westernport, where she was former treasurer of St. James Guild for 30 years and a vestry person for many years. She was a member of Tri-Towns Senior Citizens.
Surviving are one sister, Beatrice Wallace, Westernport; one brother, Harry E. Gipe, Romney, W.Va.; two neices, Sharon Masters, Jacksonville, Fla., and Edna Jurgensmeier, Wesley Chapel, Fla.; two foster neices and one foster nephew.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the St. James Episcopal Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Fr. Charles McClean officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
ROSALIE L. ABBOTT
CUMBERLAND - Rosalie L. Abbott, 58, of Bel Air, Cumberland, died Monday, Sept. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Hospice, Cumberland.
Born Feb. 14, 1939, in Gilmore, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Helen (Smith) Llewellyn.
Mrs. Abbott was a retired school teacher for the Allegany County Board of Education. For the past 18 years, she taught fourth grade at John Humbird Elementary School. Mrs. Abbott was a member of LaVale United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, William C. Abbott; two daughters, Lynn Ann Finch and husband Ronald, Pensacola, Fla.; Cheryl D. Dawson and husband Brian, Hagerstown; four brothers, Samuel Llewellyn and wife Edna, Gilmore; Robert Llewellyn and wife Edith, Swanton; Marvin Llewellyn and wife Lesta, Lonaconing; Gary Llewellyn and wife Val, Cumberland; and one sister, Norma Byers and husband William, Barton.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the LaVale United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
Family requests expressions of sympathy be made to LaVale United Methodist Church, Memorial Hospital Hospice, or John Humbird Elementary School.
Pallbearers will be Robert McKenzie, Richard Mace, William Byers V, Steven Foote, Scott Llewellyn and Michael Llewellyn.
RODNEY A. FRAZIER
CUMBERLAND - Rodney Arnold Frazier, 35, of 437 Pine Ave., Cumberland, died Monday, Aug. 11, 1997, at Memorial Hospital as a result of an accident, where he was electrocuted and fell from a ladder while cleaning Kline's Furniture Store, for painting.
Born Dec. 7, 1962, in Baltimore, he was the son of Robert L. Frazier, with whom he resided, and the late Mary D. (Chainey) Frazier.
Mr. Frazier worked with Kenny Custom Painting. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Hagerstown Community College, and received the Earl Bracey Scholarship from Allegany College of Maryland, where he last attended. He also served in the Maryland National Guard Reserves and was a member of the Fort Recovery.
Surviving besides his father are one brother, Robert A. Frazier, Baltimore; two sisters, Cynthia Green, Baltimore, and Rita J. Holman, Mount Vernon, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Toni Washington, Cumberland.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Curtis officiating.
VELMA A. DEWITT
KITZMILLER - Velma A. "Lucy" DeWitt, 56, of Kitzmiller Road, Kitzmiller, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland.
Born Nov. 30, 1940, in White, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Leon and Della (Sanner) Warzinski. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Lloyd.
Mrs. DeWitt was the owner and operator of Highlander Kennels and had many beloved dogs.
Surviving are her husband, Franklin H. DeWitt; one daughter, Rebecca DeWitt, at home; two sons, Andrew DeWitt and wife Majjal, Kitzmiller, and Timothy DeWitt and wife Angel, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister, Sara Durbin, Lake Station, Ill.; and one grandson, Devin DeWitt, Kitzmiller.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 1, 1997, at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Father Richard Spencer as celebrant.
Interment services will be conducted at the Deer Park cemetery on Wednesday, April 2, 1997, at 11 a.m. by Father Richard Spencer.
The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
GEORGE H. ABBOTT SR.
CUMBERLAND - George H. Abbott Sr., 87, of Cumberland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 1997.
Born March 15, 1910, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late John "Jake" Abbott and Margaret (Sloan) Abbott.
Mr. Abbott was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Abbott was a long time car mechanic in the area. He worked at Holland's Esso, Burkett's Oldsmobile, and Collins' Oldsmobile.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 66 years, Nellie Mae (Kyle) Abbott; two sons, George Holmes Abbott Jr., and wife, Carolyn, Derwood, and James Francis Abbott and wife Linda, Decatur, Ill.; one daughter, Gina Rae Wiley and loving son-in-law, Richard, Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, Christina Fortner, Deborah Weaver, Jamie Skelley, Rebecca Schuch, George H. Abbott III, Rachael Abbott, Sharyn Abbott, Kimberly Cramer, Darren Wiley, Trenton Wiley, and Bronson Wiley; and ten great-grandchildren. Mr. Abbott will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Joe Hiett.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Merki and the Rev. Sheril Merki officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

GERTRUDE A. CAVE
LONACONING - Gertrude Ann Cave, 81, of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, formerly of 1 Pleasant St., Lonaconing, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Nov. 16, 1916, in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Marie Darnley. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cave, in 1968. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Cave formerly worked at the Celanese Fibers Corporation. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, a member of the Alvin C. Neat VFW No. 5280 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Lonaconing Senior Citizens.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven Shussett officiating.
Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing, or to the Georges Creek Rescue Squad.
CURTIS A. GRIFFITH
BARTON - Curtis A. Griffith, 72, of 533 Valencia Place, Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of Barton, died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at his residence.
Born March 2, 1925, in Barton, he was a son of the late Curtis and Viola (Ashby) Griffith.
Mr. Griffith retired from Local No. 616 having worked for IA Construction Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Methodist by faith. Mr. Griffith was a charter member and past commander of Barton American Legion Post No. 189.
Surviving are his wife, Mary (Metz) Griffith; two sons, Randy Griffith and wife Cathy, Barton, and Charles Griffith and wife Bobbie, Granite City, Ill.; three daughters, Roberta Saia, Barton, Mary Ellen Cutter and husband Dennis, Taveares, Fla., and Susie Riley and husband Gary, Barton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
At Mr. Griffith's request, he was cremated.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services will be held at the Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing, on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
The Barton American Legion will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
