LOUISE A. EVANS
CUMBERLAND - Louise A. Evans, 83, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 17, 1913, in Oldtown, she was the daughter of the late John and Keziah (Barth) Davis. She also was preceded in death by her husband Myrl S. Evans, in 1994; one son, Carl W. Evans, in 1979; one granddaughter, Kelly M. Taylor; and four brothers, Loy, Ralph, Lloyd, and Herman Davis. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Evans was a Christian and a devoted wife and mother.

Surviving are four daughters, Charlotte King Lee and husband Melvin Beeman, LaVale, Shirley Lawrence and husband Donald, LaVale, Betty Umstead, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and Sandra K. Taylor and husband Harry, Cresaptown; five sons, Myrl R. Evans and wife Loretta, Ridgeley, W.Va., John J. Evans and wife Elizabeth, Atlanta Ga., Kenneth L. Evans and wife JoAnne, Easton, Ray M. Evans and wife Virginia, Huntington, W.Va., and Donald E. Evans and wife Darlene, Boulder, Colo., 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul H. Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

EVELYN P. BROOKS
CUMBERLAND - Evelyn P. Brooks, 89, of Henderson Avenue, Cumberland, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1907, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna E. (Wagoner) Glantzer. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Brooks, in 1972; two sons, William Brooks and Elmer L. Brooks Jr.; four brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Brooks was retired from the Tri-State Discount Center and was a former employee of the Blue White Tower Restaurant and the Queen City Station Restaurant. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Evelyn Boghosian and husband Herant, Anthony, N.M.; one daughter-in-law, Pearline Brooks, Hyndman, Pa.; two sisters, Anna McCrorie, Gaithersburg, and Bertha Clark, Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Stephen F. Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

NIAL FRANKLIN EVANS
CUMBERLAND - Nial Franklin "Frankie" Evans, 54, of Cumberland, died Monday, Sept. 15, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 5, 1943, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Oliver M. Evans, Sr., and Edna E. (Stewart) Evans. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Ashenfelter and Catherine Breighner; and one brother, Joseph Evans.

Frank dedicated 38 years of his life as a faithful member of McDonald's Ambulance Service, where "Mac" and Pansy loved and treated him like a son. Although he was small in size, his laughter, love and generosity made him a giant among men, and he will be deeply missed.

Surviving are one brother-in-law, Robert Ashenfelter, with whom he resided; three brothers, George W. Evans, Oliver M. Evans, Jr., and Charles F. "Barney" Evans, all of Cumberland; four sisters, Mary A. Appel, Hagerstown, Edna M. Hefner, Cumberland, Shirley D. Lease, Reston, Va., and Laura L. Watts, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard H. Jewell officiating.

Interment will be in Davis Memorial cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Robert Ashenfelter II, Charles "Fred" Evans, William Evans, Larry Hefner, Jerry Evans, and Raymond Haines, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McDonald, Floyd Stafford, Greg Bosley, Dave Kyle, Tom Hamilton, Don Irons, Dave Lancaster, Robert Self, Connell Robeson, Jim Kasecamp, Marty Watts, Rick Ware, and Greg Boyd.

ROBERT W. CAGE
CUMBERLAND - Robert W. "Doggie" Cage, 70, of Cumberland, died Thursday, March 6, 1997, at the Memorial Hospital Hospice, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 24, 1926, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John M. Cage and the late Ella Norine (Oglebay) Cage. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Cage, on July 29, 1995; one brother, Jack Cage; and one stepbrother, Charles Daulbaugh.

Mr. Cage was a retired machinist for the CSX Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Local 212 Railroad Machinists; and a scorekeeper for Fort Hill basketball and the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament.

Surviving are one son, David R. Cage, with whom he resided; two stepsons, Wayne A. White and wife Susan, Eureka, Calif., and Pastor Darrin P. White and wife Beth, Crainsville, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Susan R. Sanders and husband Michael, Terra Alta, W.Va., and Sharon J. Harrell and husband Joe, Frederick; three brothers, Albert R. Cage, Marshall, Texas, John F. Cage and wife Madeline, San Diego, Calif., and Paul F. Cage and wife Pee Wee, Cumberland; two sisters, Margaret L. Ayersman, Baltimore, and Helen Caton and husband Floyd, Port Ritchie, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Chelsea White, Daniel White, Julie White, Kristopher Sanders and Darrin Paul White II.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 12:30 p.m. with Pastor Darrin P. White, Mr. Cage's stepson, officiating.

Pallbearers will be the officers of Machinist Local 212, Buck Hedrick, Larry Bloss, Bill Goss Jr., Dwayne Diehl, Carl Miller and Mike Pannone.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that contributions be made to the Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit.

ALLEN L. BROTEMARKLE
CUMBERLAND - Allen Lee Brotemarkle, 73, of 326 Pear St., Cumberland, died Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cumberland, Sept. 1, 1923, he was the son of the late Ralph R. and Nora Margaret (Hendrickson) Brotemarkle.

Mr. Brotemarkle was the retired manager of RPS Auto Parts, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II, a member of the Zion Reformed United Church of Christ, and the Frostburg Bobcat Club.

Surviving are his wife, Jean A. (Moore) Brotemarkle; one daughter, Lynne Winner and husband Robert L., Langhorne, Pa.; and one nephew.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Saturday 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rosemary Baumgardner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Shriver, Jim Cuthbertson, Paul Heckert, Jim Little, Bob Serf and Tom Rudd.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

CURTIS O. GILPIN
CUMBERLAND - Curtis Odell Gilpin, 76, of Bedford Road, Cumberland, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born March 17, 1921, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James B. Gilpin and Helen (Askey) Gilpin.

Mr. Gilpin retired as a teacher with the Allegany County school system. He taught mathematics at Fort Hill High School, Washington Junior High School, and Allegany College of Maryland. Surviving is one brother, Robert H. Gilpin, Cumberland.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be private.

The Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Baltimore Avenue, is in charge of arrangements.

PHILIP B. EVERLINE
VALE SUMMIT - Philip B. Everline, 64, of Vale Summit, died Saturday, April 19, 1997, at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Va.
Born May 8, 1932, in Cumberland, he was the son of Harold Everline, of LaVale, and the late Margaret (Barnett) Everline.

Mr. Everline was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Celanese Corp., and was a member of the Vale Summit United Methodist Church. He was past commander of American Legion Farrady Post 24, and a member of Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 348.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife, Marion (Higgins) Everline; one daughter, Elaine Spry and husband Steve, Riva; twin granddaughters, Shannon and Meagan Spry; three brothers, Lewis Everline, Reading, Pa., Robert Everline, Huntsville, Texas, and Charles Everline, Charlottesville, Va.; and two sisters, Joyce Mack, Elyria, Ohio, and Mary Troutman, Wichita Falls, Texas.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The LOOM Lodge 348 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in the Vale Summit United Methodist cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Gaumer, William Barnard, Matthew Skidmore, Kenneth O'Rourke, James Harden and Richard Gomer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vale Summit United Methodist Church.
