MARY FRANCES BEVER
SWANTON - Mary Frances Bever, 69, of 198 Bever Park Lane, Swanton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 8, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
She was born Aug. 5, 1928, at Westernport, the daughter of the late Guy Orndorff and the late Catherine (Nau) Orndorff. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Bever, in 1988; and a son, Andrew James Bever.
She was a loving mother to her family and a faithful follower of the Lord, giving and receiving His messages in her walk through life on earth. She was a member of the Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Krista Bever Ecker, Maryland; three sons, Richard Bever, Maryland, Alvin Bever, Fla., and Mike Bever, Miss.; two sisters, Pat Haywood, Laurel, and Delores Orndorff, Westernport; grandchildren, Andrew Ecker, Ashley Bever, Kimberly Johnson, and Brian Woodyard; and great-grandchild, Danielle Nicole Johnson.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Nelson officiating.
Interment will be in Bever cemetery, Backbone Mountain.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church; to the American Cancer Society; or to the Spina Bifida Foundation.
RICHARD L. BIGGS
THURMONT, Md. - Richard Lewis Biggs, 37, of 12 Rouzer Court, Thurmont, formerly of Westernport, died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick.
Born May 1, 1959, at Keyser, W.Va., he was a son of Lewis E. and Doris Jane (Garvey) Biggs of Westernport. He also was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and one uncle.
Mr. Biggs was employed by First Data Merchant Services of Hagerstown for the past two years. Prior to that he was employed by the Standard Federal Savings Bank of Gaithersburg and Frederick for eight years.
Mr. Biggs was a graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport and Allegany Community College, Cumberland. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Piedmont, W.Va. He was a former Boy Scout and an Eagle Scout.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife of 11 years, Cindy D. (Jenkins) Biggs; one daughter, Nicole Renee Biggs, at home; one sister, Nancy Seltzer and fiance Doc Flanagan, Frederick; two brothers, Jon Allen Biggs and wife Kelly, Sykesville, and David Scott Biggs and wife Shawna, Keyser, W.Va.; paternal grandmother, Edna Biggs, a resident of Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, formerly of Luke; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ward W. and Bonnie L. (Ellifritz) Jenkins, Keyser; brother-in-law, Troy Allen Jenkins and wife Roxanne, Meyersdale, Pa.; two aunts, Wilda Fazenbaker and husband Richard, Piedmont, W.Va., and Dorothy Barnard and husband Bryan, Swanton; and two uncles, Tom Garvey and wife Doris, Freedom, Pa., and Robert Biggs and wife Joy, Keyser, W.Va.
Mr. Biggs is also remembered by special friends, Keating Clark, Walkersville; Roger Downs, Ashburn, Va.; Donald and Joyce Briggs, Monrovia; and Betty Jo and James Howard, Westernport.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. only.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. S.D. Sawyers and the Rev. Joseph Jarrett officiating.
Interment will be in the Philos cemetery, Westernport.

DOSHIA F. JOHNSTON
FRIENDSVILLE - Doshia Fanny Johnston, 78, formerly of Friendsville and Accident, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville.
Born Aug. 31, 1919, in Queen's Ridge, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Ira and Maude (Rigsby) Queen. She also was preceded in death by her husband, DeForrest Johnston on Oct. 20, 1988.
Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Run Church of God.
Survivors include a step-son, Mark Johnston, Friendsville; a brother, Ira B. Queen, Justice, W.Va.; a sister, Dana Smith, Columbus, Ohio; and two step-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Matthews officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Rose cemetery following cremation.
JOHN R. IMES
OLDTOWN - John R. Imes, 81, of Oldtown, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Aug. 14, 1916, he was the son of the late William Henry and Rebecca (Wingfield) Imes. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred (Gordon) Imes. Mr. Imes is the last known survivor of his immediate family.
Mr. Imes was a merchant seaman and mechanic, machinist and mill wright at the Celanese Corporation in Cresaptown. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Henry Hart Post No. 1411, Cumberland. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army's 29th Division, 110th Field Artillery, spending five years in Europe.
Surviving are one daughter, Dolores Imes Michaels and husband Leroy, Eckhart; one son, John R. Imes Jr., Mount Savage; four grandchildren, Leroy P. Michaels III, Columbus, Ohio, John W. Michaels, Winchester, Va., Angela M. Michaels, Bracey, Va., and Jesse R. Michaels, Columbus, Ohio; five sisters-in-law, Margaret Printy, Oldtown, Florence Lowery, Evelyn Shilling and Gurtrude Porter, all of Homewood Addition, and Mary Imes, Frostburg; two brothers-in-law, Wilbert Gordon, Homewood Addition, and Chester Gordon, Mount Savage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family of Mr. Imes would like to thank the staff of Lions Manor Nursing Home, Sacred Heart Hospice Unit and Dr. McCallaugh for their tender loving care during his brief stay at their facilities.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard E. Wilson and Henry A. Border officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
HELEN J. BISHOP
CUMBERLAND - Helen J. Bishop, 67, of Cumberland, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1930, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Augustus and Myrtle (Long) Duckworth.
Mrs. Bishop was a retired home sitter in the Cumberland area. She attended Central Assembly of God Church, Cumberland.
Surviving are one son, David E. Bishop and wife Julia, Flemington, N.J.; one daughter, Barbara J. (Bishop) Marple and husband Gary, Walkersville; four brothers, John Long, Franklin, Wis., Russell Duckworth and wife Elaine, Erie, Pa., Donald Duckworth and wife Lottie, Jacksonville, Fla., and Arthur Duckworth and wife Terry, Howell, N.J.; one sister, Ella Bearinger and husband Warren, Cumberland; and three grandchildren, Stacey L. (Marple) Hiltner and husband Ron, David M. Bishop, and Mark F. Bishop.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donald E. Marple officiating.

JOHN C. BITTINGER
WALDORF - John Clayton Bittinger, 36, of 14865 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, died Tuesday, April 29, 1997, at Greenbelt in an automobile accident.
Born Dec. 2, 1961, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Joseph Cylvon Bittinger, Waldorf, and Sarah Joan (Gardner) Bittinger, Front Royal, Va.
Surviving in addition to his parents are brothers, Dennis Cylvon Bittinger, Clarksville, Tenn., Joseph Rick Bittinger, Laurel, and Gene Audie Bittinger, Harwood; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Among the survivors are a sister, Katherine Rutherford of Bealton, Va.
The family will receive friends at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Donald Webb officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery, Moscow Mills.
HAROLD A. BLAND
OAKLAND - Harold A. Bland, 68, of Oakland, died Thursday, March 20, 1997, at St. Clair Hospital, Mount Lebanon, Pa.
Born May 15, 1928, in Akron, Ohio, he was a son of the late Frederick A. Bland and Viola (Glotfelty) Bland.
Mr. Bland was retired from the Garrett County Roads Department with 20 years of service, but continued to work as a truck driver for Wagner Trucking and as a bus driver for DeWitt Charter Service. He was a charter member of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department with more than 40 years of service, and attended the New Life Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Dana (Meyers) Bland; one son, Larry Bland, Yulee, Fla.; and one daughter, Debbie Baker, Oakland; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call at the Durst Funeral Home, Oakland, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the New Life Christian Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Harman officiating.
Interment will be in the Thayerville cemetery.
