KATHERINE E. BANTZ
BLOOMINGTON - Katherine E. "Kate" Bantz, 80, of 89 Hamill Avenue, Bloomington, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born January 2, 1917, in Piedmont, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth (Raines) Fazenbaker. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth N. Bantz, in 1995.

Mrs. Bantz was retired from the Devon Club, Luke, and formerly worked at the Celanese Fiber Plant. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Westernport, a member of Queens Point VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 6775, McCoole, and the Keyser Moose.

Surviving are one son, Kenneth Allen Bantz, Cumberland; one daughter, Joan Powers, Ontario, Canada; one brother, Paul Fazenbaker, Largo, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Diana Wyatt, Eric Wyatt, and Amy Wyatt.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Judson Pealer officiating.

Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

The Queens Point Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

JAMES L. GORMER SR.
CUMBERLAND - James L. "Lou" Gormer Sr., 80, of Cumberland Nursing Home, formerly of North Centre Street, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 26, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George Gormer and Sarah (Hite) Gormer.

Mr. Gormer was a former employee of the Cumberland Brewing Co., and retired from the Allegany County Board of Education. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Rachel (Ryan) Gormer; one son, James L. Gormer Jr., Cumberland; one daughter, Brenda Minick and husband Ralph, Ridgeley, W.Va.; and five grandchildren, James Parsons, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., James M. Gormer, Donna Gormer, Steve Gormer, all of Trenton, N.J., and Chris Gormer, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Shaffer officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland Veteran's cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the local Combined Military Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be Robert Nines, Robert Snowberger, Curtis Steele, Danny Ward, Joseph Blubaugh, and William Mulligan.

WILLIAM P. BANE
LAVALE - William Preston Bane, 75, of LaVale, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born April 8, 1922, in LaVale, he was the son of the late Oscar W. and Mary Ruth (Snyder) Bane. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby (Ashburn) Bane; one stepson, Howard "Pete" Bender; one sister, Shirley Murphy; and two half sisters, Helen Foote and Nora Hansel.

Mr. Bane was retired from the Montgomery County Board of Education. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was a life member of the Fort Ashby VFW.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys E. (Dyer) Bane; one stepson, William W. Bender Sr. and wife LuAnn, LaVale; two stepdaughters, Suzanna Sites, Baltimore Pike, and Patricia Bible and husband James, Oldtown; three brothers, Byron Bane and wife Jenice, Carmichael, Calif., Kenneth Bane and wife Patricia, Keyser, W.Va., and Harold Bane and wife Mary Lou, Gaithersburg; three sisters, Zelda Murphy and husband Don, Oldtown Road, Catherine Martin and husband Paul, Falls Church, Va., and Evangeline Knippenberg and husband Bob, Frederick; nine step-grandchildren, Billy, Rusty, Eston, Jeramy, Alan, Colleen, Sara, Bonnie and Donnie; and one step-great-grandson, Corey.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth L. Korns officiating.

Interment will be in Maryland Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

KATIE W. BAKER
DURANT, Fla. - Katie Willetts Baker, 88, of Durant, a native of Midlothian, Md., died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at home.
Mrs. Baker had resided in Durant for 35 years. She was an Assembly of God minister and a member of Pleasant Grove Assembly of God, Durant.

Surviving are two brothers, Matthew Willetts, Midlothian, and David Willetts, Frostburg, Md.; and three sisters, Mabel Willetts, Durant, Naomi Reed, Charles Town, W.Va., and Jane Creps, Pittsburgh.

Services and interment will be in Durant. The Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, is in charge of arrangements.

HUBERT P. BAKER
CRESAPTOWN - Friends will be received for Hubert P. "Junior" Baker at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jim Porter Sr., John Drummond, Joe Paletta, Richard Gracie, Earl Dennison and James Hinkle. Honorary pallbearer will be Clifford Spangler.

HUBERT P. BAKER
FROSTBURG - Hubert P. "Junior" Baker, 66, of 349 Allegany St., Frostburg, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at his residence.
Born Aug. 14, 1930, in Finzel, he was the son of the late Henry Baker and Eliza (Baker) Baker Wolford. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Millard Baker.

Mr. Baker was retired from the A&P; Tea Company. He was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church. He received a heart transplant on Sept. 26, 1989.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 47 years, Darlene (Croft) Baker; two sons, Ronald Baker and wife Rene, Manassas, Va., and Dale Baker and wife Irene, Bowie; one daughter, Mary Ann Ritchie, Ladiesburg; five brothers, Robert Baker, Colonial Beach, Va., Francis Baker, Silver Spring, Raymond Wolford, Keyser, W.Va., Kenny Wolford, Augusta, W.Va., and Ronald Wolford, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Patty Gray, Frostburg, and Wanda Johnson, Wooster, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Eunice Baker, Frostburg; devoted aunts, Ruth Holt, Meyersdale, Pa., Katherine Baker, Wilmington, Del., Elvie Watkins, Mabel Warne and Loretta Gracie, all of Frostburg, and Dorothy Llewellyn, Westminster; three grandchildren, Brian Baker, Kelly Ann Ritchie and Lyndsie Baker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Cresaptown, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. George A. Aist officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

The family requests that contributions be made to the Frostburg United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

EDITH M. BAKER
FINZEL - Edith M. "Dee Dee" Baker, 78, of 2623 Finzel Road, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1918, in Zihlman, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ellen (Rankin) Haupt. She also was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Francis Haupt, and one brother-in-law, Joseph Leach.

Mrs. Baker was a homemaker. She was formerly employed in the coning department of the Celanese Fibers Corp., and she sold Avon for 17 years. She was Methodist by faith.

Surviving are her husband, Carl Baker; one daughter, Doris Diane Rosenberger and husband Kenneth; two sons, Carl Eugene "Sonny" Baker and wife Martha, and Dale Jeffrey Baker and wife Sheila, all of Finzel; four sisters, Helen Vizza, Biddy Leach, both of Frostburg, Margaret Truly, Martinsburg, W.Va., and Doris Mauzy, LaVale; six grandchildren, Jeffery Baker, who was raised by Mrs. Baker, Carla Moore, Brian Baker, Misty Baker, Angie Matrogran and Jesse Rosenberger; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, June 13, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jay West officiating.

Interment will be in the Emmanuel Methodist cemetery.
