ISAAC D. GABLE
CUMBERLAND - Isaac Delbert Gable, 87, formerly of Baltimore Pike, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 13, 1910, in Newburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Fielding and Montana Virginia (Huffman) Gable. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen L. Crites; a son, D. Leroy Gable; and a granddaughter, Brenda Lee Gable.

Mr. Gable was the retired owner and operator of Gable Sanitation of Cumberland. He was a member of the Baltimore Pike Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as treasurer for many years.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Sarah Ruth (Spring) Gable; three sons, Dwain E. Gable and wife Betty, Frostburg, John P. Gable and wife Shelby, Cresaptown, and Larry J. Gable and wife Betty, Cumberland; two daughters, Carolyn F. Rice and husband Willis, Cumberland, and Patricia A. Burkett and husband Stanley, Imler, Pa.; a sister, Freda Quinn, Tunnelton, W.Va.; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Donald Crites; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene Gable.

Friends will be received at the Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ron Eichel Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

D. LEROY GABLE
CUMBERLAND - D. Leroy Gable, 54, of Cumberland, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Dec. 27, 1942, in Cumberland, he was the son of Isaac Delbert and Ruth (Springs) Gable, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Crites.

Mr. Gable was retired from the Engineering Department of the Kelly Sringfield Tire Company, Cumberland, and served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He attended Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren. He was an avid hunter and never missed hunting season with all his friends and his son, Clark.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Darlene Gable; one son, Clark L. Gable, New Market; one daughter, Katrina L. Thompson and husband, Jason, Cumberland; mother-in-law, Ollie Morrison; three brothers, Dwain Gable and wife, Betty, Frostburg; John Gable and wife, Shelby; Larry Gable and wife, Betty, all of Cumberland; two sisters, Carolyn Rice and husband, Willis, Cumberland; Patty Burkett and husband, Stanley, Imler, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Donald Crites; one grandson, Justin C. Sirbaugh; and one granddaughter, Jordan R. Thompson.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Benny R. Brakeall officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans cemetery at Rocky Gap.

Military services will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allegany County Cancer Society, 111 South George Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.

VIRGINIA L. HILL
MIAMI - Virginia Lee Hill, 65, of Miami, formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 1997.
She was born in Cumberland on Feb. 17, 1932, the daughter of Raymond Stallings and Minnie Hennen Stallings.

"Ginny" graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1950 with scholastic honors, receiving her school's letter award and certificate for perfect attendance. In 1952 Ginny moved to Miami with her husband "Jack," where she began her career as a legal secretary for Jim Kay Homes. She advanced to become the vice president of Atico Finance and Pan American Mortgage Company, where she received recognition for her role in helping to arrange financing for the opening of the Cedars of Lebanon Health Care Center. She was awarded the "Golden Groundbreaking" shovel in 1971 for her participation in the event.

Virginia is survived by her only child, Sandra Smith, of Miami; two grandchildren, Jennifer Gahan and Terrence Smith, Miami; her brother, Victor Stallings, Cumberland.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Vista Memorial Gardens, 14200 NW 57th Ave., Miami Lakes, Fla., on Thursday, Sept. 18, 1997, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

"Ginny" was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.

DONALD J. HUDSON
WILLIAMSPORT - Donald Joseph Hudson, 63, of 16740 Buford Drive, Williamsport, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Calvin Robert and Margaret Victoria (Wolfe) Hudson.

Mr. Hudson was a 1961 graduate of Tennessee Technological University, where he received his bachelor of science degree in Industrial Technology. He was employed by Mack Truck for 25 years, and was a dispatcher for the City of Hagerstown until his retirement in 1995. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Potomac Post 202 American Legion, Williamsport, and St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Halfway.

Surviving are his wife Patsy D. (Gapp) Hudson, Williamsport; two daughters, Pamela Thrailkill, Hagerstown, and Donna Hudson, at home; four sons, Stephen Hudson, Michael Hudson, and Douglas Hudson, all of Williamsport, and Kenneth Hudson, Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Patricia Fabri, Frostburg, Sister Dolores Hudson, Cumberland, and Mary Wilhelm, Bedford, Pa.; five brothers, William Hudson, Hagerstown, Thomas Hudson, Short Gap, W.Va., and John, Harold, and James Hudson, all of Cumberland; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Osborn Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Wednesday, April 2, 1997, from 7 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of family and friends, the funeral home will be open on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 17628 Virginia Ave., Halfway, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Keith W. Boisvert as celebrant.

There will be a Catholic Wake service at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. after visitation.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Building Fund, 17628 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

LEE D. HUFF
MIDDLETOWN - Lee D. Huff, 62, of Old Hagerstown Road, Middletown, died Sunday, June 8, 1997, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born July 31, 1934, in Manheim, W.Va., he was a son of the late Ralph and Belle (Funk) Huff.

Mr. Huff was employed with the A&P; in Frederick for 16 years, and retired in 1991 from Giant Foods, Inc., as a meat cutter. After his retirement, Mr. Huff operated Lee's Sharp All tool sharpening service from his home. He served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice (Lancaster) Huff; one daughter, Janet Reeder and husband Bruce, Jr., Frederick; one son, Michael Huff, Smithsburg; three brothers, G.M. Huff, Graeagle, Calif.; Patrick Huff, Oxen Hill; and Fred Huff, Ridgeley, W.Va.; two sisters, Thelma Farden, Canton, Mich., and Alice Kisner, Norfolk, Va.; and two grandsons, Clayton and Bradley Reeder, Frederick.

Friends will be received at Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville, on Tuesday, June 10, 1997, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Susan Halse officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.

The family requests the omission of flowers, and asks that memorial donations be directed to the charity of the giver's choice in Mr. Huff's memory.

JAMES A. HUGGLESTONE
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - James Alan Hugglestone, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away on Dec. 14, 1997.
He was born in Frostburg, Maryland, on April 14, 1938, and lived and raised his family at Scientists' Cliffs, Port Republic, Maryland, for 27 years before retiring to Port Charlotte in 1991.

He married Linda Lou Murrell on Dec. 28, 1964, and had four children: Jeffrey, Leslie, David and James. He was a teacher for the Prince George's County Public Schools for 30 years and taught evening classes at Second Genesis for 18 years. He was active in numerous church, civic and charitable organizations, including: Worshipful Master of the Prince Frederick, Maryland, Masonic Lodge #142, having been first initiated into the Frostburg, Maryland, Mountain Lodge #99; President of the Calvert County Lions Club; and member of the Boumi Shrine, Scottish Rite Freemasonry 32nd Degree, Elks, and Moose Clubs. He had enjoyed active membership at St. John's Episcopal Church in Frostburg, Christ Episcopal Church at Port Republic, and St. John the Evangelist Anglican Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Alan, and his parents, James Aubrey William Hugglestone and Mary Wilhemina Hugglestone. Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, Leslie Langham, David Hugglestone, and James Hugglestone; brother, Arthur Hugglestone; granddaughter, Rebecca Langham; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorial services were held in Port Charlotte on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Rausch Funeral Home in Broomes Island, Maryland, on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Burial services will be at 11 a.m., Dec. 19, at Christ Episcopal Church, Port Republic.

Memorial donations may be made to either of two organizations: The Transplant Foundation of South Florida Inc., 1151 NW 14th St., Suite 209B, Miami, FL 33136; or, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Catholic Church-Building Fund, c/o Father George Fuchs III, 21293 Wardell Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.

CHARLES W. HUGHES
CUMBERLAND - Charles W. Hughes, 89, of Ocala, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at his daughter's residence in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born May 30, 1908, in Carlos, he was the son of the late James and Rosina (Filer) Hughes.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Hughes was retired from the Celanese as a supervisor.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Shuck) Hughes; two sons, George Hughes, Frostburg, and James Hughes, Erie, Pa.; a daughter, Charlaine Friedman, Martinsburg.

Mr. Hughes' body will be cremated. Private inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Funeral arrangement are under the direction of the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale.
