WILLIAM T. HANNA
WESTERNPORT - William "Bill" T. Hanna, 68, of 200 Philos Ave., Westernport, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, at Rocky Gap State Park.
Born Feb. 7, 1929, in Keyser, W.Va., he was the son of the late Irvin Hanna Sr. and Elsie (Triplett) Hanna.

Mr. Hanna was a laborer at the WestVaco Paper Mill for 38 years as a Winder Operator. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Westernport, the Redmen Black Hawk Tribe 131 and Victory Post 155.

Surviving are his wife Janet L. (Tinsley) Hanna; four daughters, Tara Fazenbaker and husband Greg, Westernport, Cindi Miller and John Pownall, Romney, W.Va., and Bonnie and Melissa Hanna, at home; one son, William "Tim" Hanna and Shirley Hayward, Westernport; one sister, Mary Jean Miller, Bel Air; one brother, Irvin Hanna Jr., Westernport; six grandchildren, Shad and Corey Donnelly, Amber, Brittany and Devin Miller, and Arianna Pownall; and four step grandchildren, Jay, Tina and Eric Pownall, and Nichole Fazenbaker.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, of Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Beeman officiating.

Interment will be in the Philos cemetery.

ERVIN D. HANSEL
FROSTBURG - Ervin Dixon Hansel, 90, of 7958 Eastdale Road, Baltimore, formerly of 25 Bowery Street, Frostburg, died Monday, Oct. 20, 1997, at Franklin Square Hospital, Baltimore.
Born on January 21, 1907, in Garrett County, Ervin was the son of the late David P. and Jane (Clark) Hansel. His twin brother, Edgar, died in 1988. Ervin was married to Dolly E. (Broadwater) Hansel on June 5, 1928. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 1993. Dolly died in 1994.

Mr. Hansel worked many jobs throughout his years, travelling and struggling to find work during the Depression years, and finally settling in Baltimore in 1955, where he worked at the Sparrows Point Shipyard for the Bethlehem Steel Company, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Moose Lodge #70. He loved to hunt and fish, which prompted him, nearly 30 years ago, to buy property in Largent, W.Va., on the Cacapon River. This is where he truly enjoyed his retirement years. His generosity, good will, and spirit have made him a legend throughout the years among family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Glenn Hansel, Baltimore; two daughters, Betty Jane Mastin and husband, Jack, Selbyville, Del., and Dorothy V. Spataro and husband, Patrick, Baltimore; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Mary (Fatkin) Martens, Frostburg.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Raymond Hansel, his nephew, officiating. Interment will be in the Eckhart cemetery.

THEODORE J. HANSELL
CUMBERLAND - Theodore Joseph Hansell, 68, of Quebec Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, at Memorial Hospital Hospice.
Born May 4, 1929, in Cumberland, he was the son of Irene (Clay) Kilpatrick, Cumberland, and the late Theodore Roosevelt Hansell. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, James Kilpatrick.

Mr. Hansell was retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation at Sparrows Point, Baltimore. He attended Fort Hill High School.

In addition to his mother, surviving are one stepson, Robert Hansell, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; and numerous cousins.

A graveside service will be conducted at St. Mary's cemetery on Monday at 2:30 p.m. with Father Milton A. Hipsley officiating.

The Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, is in charge of the arrangements.

MARGARET E. HANSEN
MEDINA, Ohio - Margaret E. Hansen, 80, of Medina, formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997, at Life Care of Medina.
Mrs. Hansen was born in National, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hansen, in 1993; two sisters, Genevieve O'Donnell and Virginia Definbaugh; and one great-niece, Kerry Anne Spencer.

She was a member of the Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, Medina, and Our Lady of Good Council, Cleveland.

Mrs. Hansen retired as a newstand clerk in the Windsor Hotel, Cumberland.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church, Cumberland, on Saturday at noon with the Rev. Thomas R. Bevan as celebrant.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

Waite & Son Memorial Home, Medina, is in charge of the out-of-town arrangements.

Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, Cumberland, is in charge of the local arrangements.

Pallbearers will be James P. O'Donnell, James Spencer, Jerry Bennett, Sean O'Donnell, John David O'Donnell and John O'Donnell.

RUTH D. HANSON
FROSTBURG - Ruth D. Hanson, 87, formerly of 78 and 11 W. Main St., Frostburg, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home, Frostburg.
Born March 21, 1910, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Lewis) Hanson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Miss Hanson was a retired school teacher for Allegany County Schools. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Frostburg.

Surviving family members are Edith A. Hanson and husband Bob, Chestertown, Md.; Margaret L. Kephart, Short Gap, W.Va.; Dr. William A. Lemmert and wife Sunny, Tampa, Fla.; James R. Lemmert and wife Lorrain, Hagerstown; Howard H. Lemmert and wife Linda, Frostburg; Jack L. Hanson, Frostburg; and Mrs. Ruth Baker, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the First United Presbyterian Church, 33 Broadway, Frostburg, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steven H. Shussett officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Robert Dennison, Kory Lemmert, Dr. Kurtis Lemmert, Kenneth S. Lemmert, James R. Lemmert Jr., Jeffrey Cougnet, G. Lewis Baker III, Gary L. Geiger, and Richard W. Geiger.

LEROY W. HARE SR.
CUMBERLAND - Leroy Wilson "Fream" Hare Sr., 80, of Cumberland, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born July 18, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late John Wilson and Emma J. (Barger) Hare. He also was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Hare retired after 45 years with the Celanese Corp. He was a member of Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church; VFW Henry Hart Post 1411; Cumberland Fraternal Order of Police; Baltimore Pike Volunteer Fire Department; and AARP. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant in the First Division during the European Theatre.

He was the former president of JFK Tenants Association; vice chairman of the Cumberland Housing Authority Board; past president of Senior Citizens Club; and served as vice president of Local 1874 TWUA. He was the former coach of the Pirates Little League baseball team for 10 years, and he was an avid bowler and played baseball and basketball.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Bessie M. (Trout) Hare; one son, Leroy Wilson Hare Jr. and wife Phyllis, Largo, Fla.; one daughter, Donna F. Garland and husband Carl, Pasadena; three brothers, Thomas T. Hare, Robert R. Hare, and Stanley S. Hare, all of Cumberland; one sister, Leona Myers, Cumberland; two grandchildren, William Wilson Hare and wife Donna, Pensacola, Fla., and Christine Geoghegan and husband Earl, Shermansdale, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren, Robert Wilson Hare, Joshua Michael Geoghegan, Kassandra Marie Geoghegan, Jason Robert Killion and Nancy Lynn Killion.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Basil B. Day Jr. officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Emmanuel-Bethel United Methodist Church.

JOHN R. HAGENBUCH
BOONSBORO - John R. Hagenbuch, 87, of Fahrney-Keedy Home, Boonsboro, died Monday, May 26, 1997, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown.
Born Feb. 4, 1910, near Milton, Pa., he was a son of the late Percy and Gertrude (Hill) Hagenbuch. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Ola (King) Hagenbuch, in 1988.

After completing high school, Mr. Hagenbuch moved to Washington, D.C. He graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in accounting. He was employed by the U.S. government for 35 years in the general accounting office, Department of the Air Force and Defense Contract Audit Agency. He was a member of the Fahrney-Keedy Chapel Fellowship.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Lizondo, Annandale, Va., and Marjorie Cockrell Mills, Agoura Hills, Calif.; two brothers, Norman Hagenbuch, Milton, Pa., and Tillman Hagenbuch, Danville, Pa.; a sister, Mary Beaver, Milton, Pa.; six grandchildren, Rob, Rick, Sonia, Brian, Darren and Kevin; a great-grandson, Robbie; and his devoted friend, Ruth Ecker.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Shimer officiating.

Interment will be in Bear Creek cemetery.
