BETTY S. JOLLEY
CUMBERLAND - Betty Stonebraker Jolley, 70, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., formerly of Cumberland, died Monday, July 21, 1997, at Columbia Hospital.
Born in Cumberland on Sept. 20, 1926, she was the daughter of George G. Stonebraker and the late Sarah (Price) Stonebraker.

Mrs. Jolley was a member of St. Simon's Episcopal Church, Fort Walton Beach, and was also a member of the Retired Officers Association, Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, the National Association of Senior Friends and the Moose Lodge of Fort Walton Beach.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are her two sons, Jim Jolley and wife Susan, Orlando, Fla., and Richard Jolley of Ocala, Fla.; two grandchildren, Richard Jolley with the U.S. Marine Corps, and Jennifer Jolley, Orlando; two aunts, Mildred Keech, LaVale, and Grace Price, Luray, Va.; and a very close cousin, Jane Riehl, Cumberland.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a memorial service to follow at the McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. John Scheels will officiate.

The burial of Mrs. Jolley's cremains will take place at a later date in the Barancas National cemetery in Pensicola, Fla., alongside her late husband, George J. Jolley.

McLaughlin Mortuary Chapel has been entrusted with the remains.

CATHERINE JONES
WINTERHAVEN, Fla. - Catherine Jones, 67, of Winterhaven, formerly of Westernport, died Monday, June 30, 1997, at her residence.
Born Nov. 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Ada (Stuby) McKenzie. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward McKenzie and Robert McKenzie.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church of Winterhaven.

Surviving are her husband, Howard W. Jones; two sons, Howard L. Jones and wife Stephanie, Winterhaven, and Robert E. Jones and wife Brenda, North Wilkesboro, N.C.; four brothers, Troxel McKenzie, Ashville, N.C., Charles McKenzie, William McKenzie, and Fred McKenzie, all of Westernport; one sister, Marguerite Chittum, Baltimore; and two grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport, on Friday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ellis Kretschmer officiating.

Interment will be in Philos cemetery, Westernport.

ELSIE L. JONES
CUMBERLAND - Elsie L. Shepherd Jones, 78, of the Cumberland Nursing Home, Cumberland, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born March 14, 1919, in Ridgeley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Ethel M. (Shaffer) Shepherd. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John William Jones; one brother, Frank Shepherd; and one sister, Margaret Maffley.

Mrs. Jones was a former employee of the Maryland Cup Company, Baltimore, and a member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are one sister, Agnes C. Miller and husband Vernon, Cumberland; three brothers, Joseph E. Shepherd and wife Catherine, Carpendale, W.Va., Robert Kyle Shepherd and wife Grace, Ridgeley, and Charles Shepherd, Baltimore.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Dietz and the Rev. Benny Brakeall officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family requests contributions may be made to the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Shepherd, William Shepherd, Raymond Shepherd, Robert Shepherd, Edward Shepherd, and Joseph Shepherd.

FRANCIS A. JONES
FROSTBURG - Francis A. "Fran" Jones, 53, of Frostburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 1997, at his home following a lingering illness.
Born Oct. 12, 1943, in New York, he was the son of the late Gerald T. and Alice (Cavanaugh) Jones.

Surviving are one sister, Geraldine Schurg and husband Roger, Eckhart; nieces and nephews, Katie Kenney, Colleen Kasecamp and husband, Rick, Larry Kenney and wife, Michelle, Billy and Sean Kenney.

The body was cremated.

A memorial service will be held at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Thursday at 6 p.m. with Father Paul A. Byrnes officiating.

Inurnment will be at Holly Hills cemetery, Baltimore.

HENRY E. JONES
CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio - Henry E. Jones, 84, of Cuyahoga Falls, formerly of Frostburg, died Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born April 21, 1913, in Eckhart, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Seggie) Jones. He also was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Jane (Smith) Jones; and two children, Christina Scroggins and James Jones.

Mr. Jones was retired from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church School Maintenance Dept., Cuyahoga Falls. He formerly was employed as a school bus driver and worked in the coal mines.

Surviving are his best friend Mary Romesberg, Meyersdale, Pa.; eight daughters, Beatrice Yutzy and husband Harold, Zihlman, Amelia G. Finzel, Frostburg, Norma Jean Lavin, Cresaptown, Irene Eakle and husband Edward, Harrisville, W.Va., Frances Starcher and husband Arnold, Cuyahoga Falls, Alice Umphrey and husband Charles, Hedgesville, W.Va., Barbara Yost and husband Robert, Mannington, W.Va., and Charlotte Ihasz, Cuyahoga Falls; one son, Charles E. Jones and wife Pam, Alliance, Ohio; one sister, Angeline Bennett, Chicago, Ill.; 33 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Randy Hawk officiating.

Pallbearers will be Robert Yutzy, Chris Montgomery, Charles Yost, Charles Jones, Earl Finzel Jr., Francis Finzel, Darrell Scott, and Harold Yutzy Jr.

Interment will be in the Frostburg Memorial Park.

LAWRENCE LEO "BUCK" JONES
CUMBERLAND - Lawrence Leo "Buck" Jones, 81, formerly of Grand Avenue, Cumberland, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Cumberland Nursing Home.
Born July 12, 1916, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Edwin and Bertha Frances (Brooks) Jones. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry C. Jones, James Jones, and Garrett DeVictor Jones; two sisters, Vera Mae Jones, and Josephene Frances Jones; and one sister-in-law, Lucile R. Jones.

Mr. Jones was enlisted for six years in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a member of the Maryland Free State, CCC Alumnis Chapter 113, and VFW Post 11.

Surviving are two sisters, Catherine Arah Tracy, and Mary Louise Rummer, both of Cumberland; one nephew, Calvin Paul Tracy, Cumberland; and one niece, Barbara Jean Tracy, Cumberland.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Fr. Vance Pastorius O.F.M. as celebrant. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

NELLIE GRACE JONES
CUMBERLAND - Nellie Grace (Stewart) Jones, 95, of Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at the nursing home.
Born Feb. 27, 1902, in Davis, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles C. and Josephine (Batt) Stewart. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Franklin Jones; one son, Jack E. Jones, Sr.; one brother, Melvin Stewart; and one sister, Elizabeth Morgan.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a Methodist by faith.

Surviving are one son, Charles F. Jones and wife, Dorothy, Bowling Green; one daughter-in-law, Helen Jones, LaVale; two brothers, Charles "Jeff" Stewart, and James "Bill" Stewart, both of Cumberland; two sisters, Lillian Hearton, Williamsport, Pa., and Vivian Ott, Cumberland; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

At Mrs. Jones' request, there will be no visitation. Services will be conducted at Scarpelli Funeral Home, 108 Virginia Avenue, on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Gary W. Trail officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
