THOMAS E. MARTIN
WESTERNPORT - Thomas Edward Martin, 51, of 21329 Donna St., Westernport, died Friday, March 28, 1997, at his residence.
Born Oct. 5, 1945, in Westernport, he was the son of Frederick Martin and Lillian (Crawford) Martin, of Westernport. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Daisy and Stanley Martin; brother, Ellsworth Martin; mother- and father-in-law, John R. and Dorothy White; and niece and nephew, Brandy Lynn White and Jason Lee White.
Mr. Martin was a devoted employee of Allegany Aggregates as a heavy equipment operator. He was a U.S. Army veteran, where he was stationed in Korea. He was involved with the High Rock Saddle Club for many years, where he showed game horses.
A devoted husband and father, he is survived in addition to his parents by his wife Barbara (White) Martin; two daughters, Brooke Danielle Martin and Brittany Morgan Martin, at home; two brothers, Donald Lee Martin and wife Connie, Westernport, and Eugene Martin and wife Sue, Gaithersburg; one sister, Dorothy Jean Miller and husband Lawrence ``Smiley," of Aliquippa, Pa.; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Melvin and Anna White, Westernport, Richard and Vicki White, Bloomington, Dewey and Virginia Duckworth, Bloomington, and Sandy and Steve Guy, Bloomington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ada Kittle officiatng.
Interment will be in the Bloomington cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tim Martin, Aaron Martin, Myron Martin, Bill Wolfe, Larry Broadwater and Ed Sawyer.
SARAH K. RANK
FROSTBURG - Sarah K. Rank, 88, of Frostburg, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home.
Born in Frostburg on June 12, 1909, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane (Yeider) Krapf. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rank; and her sister, Nellie Krapf. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
There will be no visitation. A service will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. T. William Preston officiating.
Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, is in charge of arrangements.
OSCAR W. PETENBRINK
LAVALE - Oscar W. Petenbrink, 75, of National Highway, LaVale, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 1997, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Meyersdale, Pa., the son of the late Norman L. and Mary E. (Mazer) Petenbrink.
He was predeceased by two wives, Ruth (Shumaker) Petenbrink, and Josephine (Forman) Petenbrink.
Mr. Petenbrink was a member of Mount Carmel Lutheran Church in Meyersdale; he was a retired dairy and beef farmer; and he also retired from Bauchman Surplus City.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Lepley, Gainesboro, Tenn., and Mary Kay Kennell and husband, Jay, Wellersburg, Pa.; a sister, Betty Brown, Meyersdale, Pa.; a special friend, Alice Deal, Meyersdale; and grandchildren, Michael Lepley and wife, Gayla, and A.J. Lepley, both of Tennessee, Heather Kennell and Melissa Kennell, both of Wellersburg.
Friends will be received in the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, Meyersdale, with the Rev. Mel Kirk and Larry Hoover officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Lutheran Church cemetery.

NELLIE G. CLINE MARTZ
ELLERSLIE - Nellie G. Cline Martz, 80, of Ellerslie, died on Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at her residence.
Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William and Hazel (Greene) Dentinger. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, Patrick Cline; her second husband, Homer B. Martz Sr.; six sisters; and four brothers.
Mrs. Martz was a former member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church, and then a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was an employee in the meat department of DeVores Market in Ellerslie.
Surviving are two sons, James W. Cline and wife Margaret, Frostburg, and Homer B. Martz Jr. and wife Kelly, Accident; three daughters, Nellie Fryer and husband Charles, Furnace Acres, W.Va., Hazel Davis and husband James, Ellerslie, and Joan Vinton and husband William, Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Joan Digman, Cumberland; two brothers, Jack and Donovan Dentinger, both of Cumberland; grandchildren, James Cline II, Kenneth Lepley, Patrick Lepley, Cindy Bradshaw, Michele Buser, Greg Fryer, Teresa Lepley, Gregory Davis, Victoria Salomonsen, Michael Davis, and Kevin Vinton; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Cliff and Louise Loar, LaVale.
Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oldtown Road, Cumberland, on Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father William Moody as celebrant.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
A Christian wake service will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 8 p.m.

NANCY K. PETTIT
XENIA, Ohio - Nancy Kalbaugh Pettit, 73, of 126 Wilson Drive, Xenia, formerly of Frostburg, died Friday, Sept. 12, 1997, in Xenia.
Born April 12, 1924, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Helen (Brady) Kalbaugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James Pettit, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Pettit was a former bookkeeper for the Library of Congress, Dayton. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Frostburg.
Surviving are one daughter, Anne Pettit, Beavercreek, Ohio; one son, James B. Pettit Jr., Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Timothy Krug, Beavercreek, Melissa Krug, Beavercreek, Carrie Pettit, West Carrolton, Ohio Brendan Pettit, Marietta, Ga., and Nicholas Crooks, Beavercreek.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. only.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michaels's Catholic Church, Frostburg, on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Paul Byrnes as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Michael's Parish cemetery.
VIRGINIA B. MARTZ
CUMBERLAND - Virginia Bryl Martz, 79, of LaVale, died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997 at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Dec. 11, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William and Della (Hill) Reynolds.
Mrs. Martz also was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Martz, in 1981; and one brother, William Reynolds.
Survivors include two sons, Homer Martz, Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo., and David A. Martz, Baltimore; three daughters, Judith Williams, Norco, Calif., Debra Keister and Susan Hinkle, both of LaVale; three sisters, Madeline Price, Conroe, Texas, Edith Cessna, Cumberland, and Mary Smerick, Waldorf; several grandchildren, including Maranda Bergdoll and Tiffany Duckworth; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Harold Shaffer of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, will officiate.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
ROSALIE MASON
OWINGS MILLS - Mary Rosalie Mason, 70, of Owings Mills, died early Friday morning, Feb. 21, 1997, at the home of her daughter after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 29, 1926, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Bertrand A. Mason Sr. and Cora D. Mason. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Bertrand A. Mason Jr. and John Tucker Mason, Cumberland.
Ms. Mason was a homemaker and had retired from many years of work in women's retail sales in the Baltimore-Washington area.
Surviving are two daughters, Roseanne Gesber and her husband Michael, Owings Mills, and Mary Jane Bouch and her husband James, Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Robert F. Mackert and his wife Sue, Minnetrista, Minn.; one brother, Edward J. Mason, Cumberland; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Mason, Cumberland, and Mary Mason, Annapolis; and five grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, on Sunday, Feb. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. Prayers will be at 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 24, 1997, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Vance Pastorius, O.F.M., Cap., as celebrant. Visitation at the church will be from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the SS. Peter and Paul cemetery.
