WILLIAM G. SCHAIDT JR.
LONACONING - William Gustave Schaidt Jr., 57, of 35 Front St., Lonaconing, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan 7, 1940, at Lonaconing, he was the son of the late William Gustave Schaidt Sr., and Mabel (Wilt) Schaidt, Lonaconing.
Mr. Schaidt was the owner-operator of Schaidt Hardware Store, 15-17 Main St., Lonaconing, for 26 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Valley High School, and a U.S. Army veteran with service from 1962 to 1965, when he toured in Germany. He attended Frostburg State University. He was a 25 year member of Martha Washington Chapter 10 Order of the Eastern Star, Lonaconing; a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing; and George's Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF&AM.;
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Jean (Cutter) Schaidt; son, William Gustave Schaidt III and wife Bonnie, of 1424 Barrett Road, Baltimore; two grandchildren, Tyler Jacob Schaidt and William Garrett Schaidt; one sister, Shirley Blair, Lonaconing; and two nieces and one nephew, Cathy Blair, Arthur Blair, and Jennie Blair.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, 8 E. Main St., Lonaconing, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Gauthier officiating.
Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Brodie, Andy Brodie, Arthur Blair, Stuart Blair, Leslie Broadwater, and Charles Crammer.
George's Creek Valley Lodge 161 AF&AM; will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
JULIUS E. SCHINDLER
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Julius E. Schindler, 92, of Boca Raton, formerly of Hagerstown, died Aug. 2, 1997, in Boca Raton.
Born Sept. 17, 1904, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Rachel Schindler. He also was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (Singer) Schindler, in May 1991; three sisters, Ethel Schindler, Mary (Schindler) Leibowitz and Frieda (Schindler) Kobre; and two brothers, William Schindler and Dr. Blane Schindler.
Mr. Schindler graduated with honors from Hagerstown High School. While a student there he was president of the Theodore Roosevelt Literary Society, winner of the High School Oratorical Contest and captain of the high school debating team.
He took pre-legal college courses at the University of Maryland and was awarded degrees of LLB and LLM from George Washington University in 1927 and 1928. Mr. Schindler was a member of the Bars of Maryland, Washington, D.C. and North Carolina. He opened his law office in Cumberland in 1929.
Mr. Schindler was a member of the B.B. French Lodge No. 15 of Masons in Washington, D.C., for more than 65 years. He was coronetted as a 33rd degree Mason in October 1955. He was the orator of the Ritualistic Team of Ali Ghan Shrine Temple and was an active ritualist in the Scottish Rite for 50 years.
He was a life member of the Allegany County Bar Association, the Masons, the Shriners, the Eagles, Knights of Pythias and Scottish Rite Masons. Mr. Schindler was presiding officer of the four Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies. He received awards from the Grand Aerie of Eagles and the Cumberland Chapter of De Molay for services he rendered them. He was a past president of the Maryland Grand Lodge, Knights of Pythias.
Serving as president of the Allegany Bar Association and the Allegany County Historical Association, Mr. Schindler also served as Judge of the People's Court in Cumberland, and was active in politics. He was appointed Judge of the People's Court by Governor H.W. Nice and to several state commissions by Governor H.R. O'Connor and Governor Marvin Mandel.
Mr. Schindler was an attorney for the Allegany County Board of Election Supervisors, a director of the Cumberland Free Public Library and was a delegate to two Maryland State Democratic Conventions. He was a director of operation Gateway to encourage tourism to Cumberland and Allegany County.
He was president of the Brotherhood of B'er Chayim Temple, president of Western Maryland Lodge of B'nai B'rith and president of the Maryland-District of Columbia Association of B'nai B'rith. Mr. Schindler served as a member of the Board of Trustees of B'er Chayim Temple. He also taught Sunday School and conducted services in the absence of the Rabbi.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Frieda Pacino, Ruth Frank, Sondra Schindler, Ronald Schindler, Dr. Richard Schindler, Dr. Fred Schindler, Rae Schindler and Eddie Schindler.

MARIE E. SCHLOSNAGLE
ACCIDENT - Marie Elaine Schlosnagle, 71, of 959 Brethren Church Road, Accident, died Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Oct. 23, 1925, in Washington, D.C., she was a daughter of the late Homer H. and Hazel (Clark) Yost.
Mrs. Schlosnagle was a member of Bear Creek Church of the Brethren and served on the Women's Fellowship group. She also was a member of the Accident Historical and Cultural Society, and attended Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, Va.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, John J. Schlosnagle; three sons, Eric Schlosnagle and wife Lisa, and Stephen Schlosnagle and wife Eileen, all of Accident, and Stanley Schlosnagle and wife Margaret, Berwyn Heights; a daughter, Elaine Lee and husband Daniel, Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Helen Festing and husband William, Jr., and Arlene Paugh, all of Carlsbad, N.M.; and seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, McHenry, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Bear Creek Church of the Brethren on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Wegman and Pastor William C. Shimer officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.

GEORGE A. SCHRAMM
LONACONING - George Andrew Schramm, 51, of 4 West Hanekamp St., died Dec. 21, 1997, at his residence. Born at Lonaconing on Oct. 6, 1946, he was a son of the late George Harrison Schramm and Nita Cosby (Billmyer) Schramm.
A teacher for 29 1/2 years at Northern High School, he taught World History. He was a graduate of Frostburg State University in 1968. He was a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, a member of Vast Horace Baseball League (an avid Fantasy Baseball League member), a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing; the Garrett County Teachers Association. Mr. Schramm was a local musician, playing in local bands for 30 years.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and family man. He will be sadly missed and always loved.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Faye (Fazenbaker) Schramm; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Schramm Sr., Horsham, Pa., and Christopher Andrew Schramm, at home; one grandson, Jeffrey Scott Schramm Jr.; and one sister, Sally Perkins, Cresaptown.
Friends will be received at the Eichhorn-McKenzie Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Lonaconing. Interment will be at Laurel Hill cemetery, Moscow Mills. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
The Rev. Richard Mortimore and the Rev. Bernadette Ross will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Curtis Fazenbaker, Michael Fazenbaker, Wesley Fazenbaker, Marshall Fazenbaker III, Eric Fazenbaker and Craig Knippenberg.
JOANN W. SCHRAMM
BARTON - JoAnn W. Schramm, 59, of 18813 Temperance Row, Barton, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
She was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Knapps Meadow, the daughter of the late George W. Wilson and Pearl (Starkey) Wilson. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Minnick and Nellie Moyer; and one brother, William Wilson.
Mrs. Schramm was a part-time employee of The Duo Restaurant, Barton. She was a member of Barton Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Joseph Schramm; six daughters, Joanna Combs and Karen Loar, both of Lonaconing, Sue Loar, Barton, Tammy Schramm, Cumberland, Tina Colmer and husband, Troy, Barton, and Heidi Kyle, Westernport; three brothers, Allan Wilson, Rawlings, George Wilson, Beans Cove, Pa., and James Wilson, North Carolina; and 10 grandchildren, Joseph Combs, Donald Combs, Cheryl Loar, Jeannie Loar, Steven Loar, Moriah King, Troy Colmer Jr., Daphne Colmer, Daniel Colmer and Michael Kyle Jr.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Barton Presbyterian Church on Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Vernon Gauthier officiating. Mrs. Schramm's body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

BARBARA J. SCHREIER
STAMFORD, Conn. - Barbara J. Sigel Schreier, 50, of Stamford, Conn., formerly of Cumberland, Md., died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, Nov. 29, 1997, at her home after a long and inspirational battle with breast cancer.
Born Jan. 14, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of Joan (Kochman) Sigel, Cumberland, and the late David Sigel.
Mrs. Schreier was chairwoman of the Department of Social Work at Central Connecticut State University. She received both her bachelor's and master's degree in social work, magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh. She was appointed assistant professor at CCSU in January, 1990, promoted to associate professor, and then to department chair. She wrote and presented many papers on current social issues.
Her powerful spirit, sense of humor, zest for life, and love of people will be remembered always by her family, friends and students, and all whose lives she touched.
In addition to her mother, surviving are her husband, Stephen Schreier, Stamford; one daughter, Deborah Leipzig, Stamford; two stepsons, Benji Schreier, Stamford, and Daniel Schreier, Columbia, Md.; one stepdaughter, Kerry Ann Schreier, Columbia, Md.; and one brother, Marty Sigel, Baltimore, Md.
Shiva will be observed at the residence of Stephen Schreier through Friday, Dec. 5, 1997.
Funeral services will be held at the Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, on Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at 1 p.m.
Interment will follow in Agudath Sholom cemetery, Stamford.
