ARLIE M. WILLIAMS
CUMBERLAND - Arlie Mae Williams, 86, of 212 Washington Street, Cumberland, died Sunday, May 18, 1997, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 13, 1911, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sara (Thomas) Keller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Guy E. Williams; two sisters, Saphorah Keller and Martha Jane Jenkins; and two brothers, Phillip E. Keller and Wallace B. Keller.

Mrs. Williams owned the former Arlie's Beauty Salon. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church; McKinley Chapter 12 Order of the Eastern Star; and Re Temple 118 Daughters of the Nile.

Surviving are one son, Dr. Terry Williams, Cumberland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the George-Upchurch Funeral Home, 202 Greene Street, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be held in St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John J. Duffus officiating. The body will be taken to church at 10 a.m.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Adams, John Bache, Billy Bruck, Oliver Evans, Grover Hott, and Wallace Ullery.

BRIAN E. WILLIAMS
ZIHLMAN - Brian E. Williams, 26, of Zihlman, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital from complications of muscular dystrophy after a long and courageous battle.
Born Sept. 17, 1970, in Cumberland, he was dearly loved and will be forever missed by his parents, Danny and Susie (Shoemake) Williams, Zihlman. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lois Shoemake, and paternal grandparents, James "Cheese" and Helen Williams.

Brian was a member of Allegany United Methodist Church. He was a Muscular Dystrophy Poster Child and a graduate of Beall High School Class of 1989. Brian touched many peoples lives and will surely be missed by all. He was an inspiration and a joy to be with.

Brian's parents want to thank the medical staff of Sacred Heart Hospital and especially Intensive Care and High Level Care.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his faithful companion, "Chelsea"; aunts and uncles, Gary and Candace Long, Dave and Sandy Shoemake, Gene and Darlene Kergan, all of Frostburg, Wayne and Carol Williams, Sterling, Va., and Tom and Faye Kolb, Natchez, Miss.; and numerous cousins.

Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Harpold officiating.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 8501 LaSalle Road, Towson MD 21204 or the Allegany United Methodist Church, Zihlman.

JUDITH M. WILLIAMS
HAGERSTOWN - Judith Marie (Grant) Williams, 75, of 108 Harvard Road, Hagerstown, died Friday, March 21, 1997, at the Washington County Hospital.
Born Jan. 25, 1922, in Cresaptown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Genevieve (McDonald) Grant. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Bodkin; and two brothers, Allen Grant and Charles Grant.

Mrs. Williams was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at the Western Maryland Center Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, Francis "Bud" Williams; one sister, Mary "Dottie" Hayes, Hagerstown; two nieces, Nancy Raidt and Terry Hayes, both of Hagerstown; and one great-niece.

The family will receive friends at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 226 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, on Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. George A. Limmer as celebrant.

Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport.

MABEL P. WILLIAMS
CUMBERLAND - Mabel Pierce Williams, Amherst Avenue, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born Sept. 10, 1904, on Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Charles Pierce and Nelle Elizabeth (Barnes) Pierce. Her former husband, James P. Williams, Junior, W.Va., and two brothers, Harold and Ben Pierce, Canada, preceded her in death.

A member of Centre Street United Methodist Church, Cumberland, Mrs. Williams was noted for her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to nursing. She was a woman of high principles and morals, whose courage and intelligence benefited others. She received the Clara Barton Award and the Sara Beneman Award and other numerous honors for accomplishments and services with Red Cross bloodmobiles.

She was the nursing supervisor of the First Allegany County Infirmary properties on Furnace Street. She served at Allegany Hospital, Decatur Street, continuing when it became Sacred Heart Hospital there. She also worked at the Amcelle Plant of Celanese, as well as office nurse for Dr. F. Murray. She was a 1926 graduate of Stratford School of Nursing, Stratford Hospital, Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

She traveled extensively, and belonged to professional, church, bowling, and social groups.

Mrs. Williams was a generous and loving mother and grandmother. She stressed honor, achievement, and self-reliance. She maintained a youthful attitude and contemporary interests, including sports, especially Allegany High School teams, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and golf. Spirited and dynamic, she was the second woman in Maryland to obtain a motorcycle license; the first was her sister-in-law, the late Eva W. Harvey.

Surviving are two daughters, Paula Elizabeth Munson, Frostburg, and Jimma Adele Logsdon, Somerset, Pa.; two sons-in-law, Frank Munson and Clark Logsdon; six grandchildren, Scott Logsdon, New York City, Chad Logsdon and Heather Leigh Logsdon, both of Somerset, Pa., and Pamela Elizabeth Mando, Mark Munson and wife Chris, and Randall Munson and wife Andrea, all of Tampa, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Frank, and Jennifer Elizabeth Reyer, "Pamela," Rachael Elizabeth and Taelar (Randall), and Alexander (Mark), all of Tampa, Fla.; sister, Joyce F. Sullivan and husband James Sullivan, LaVale; niece Beth S. Lanigan and husband Lt. Col. George Lanigan, with the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.; Ford Feltz, Citra, Fla.; sisters Ethel F. Perry, California, and Owanda F. Baird, Altoona, Pa; and several nieces and nephews and their families, in Canada and the United States. Other special relatives are niece and nephew-in-law Jean and Lou Marrale, Amherst Avenue, Sherry Feltz Shaffer and husband Bob, Cresaptown, and niece Donna Rae Harvey van Kauwenburgh, Suamico, Wis.; special friends, Carol Davies Lambert, Frederick Street, Flora Shuhart, Barton, and Verneeda Gracie, Tilsonburg, Ontario. Also special to her are Tom and Jerry Williams, Amherst Avenue.

Friends will be received at the Kight Funeral Home, 309-311 Decatur St., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd B. McCanna officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Memorial gifts may be directed to Centre Street United Methodist Church, or the charity of choice.
