Palmore, William H.

William Henry Palmore 68, departed this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Towson, MD at the Gilchrist Hospice Care facility following a lengthy illness. He was born July 8, 1944 in Canoe, Alabama, to Mary Smith and the late Henry Palmore.

During his early years William moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he attended Benjamin Franklin High school, upon completion he furthered his education at Philadelphia Community College and Drexel University.

William joined the army and served in the Vietnam War where he received an honorable discharge in 1967. In 1975 he met his loving wife, Deborah, and they later where joined in matrimony.

William started his career in construction while still pursuing his education. During the early 80's he furthered his career in Construction Management within several companies including Amtrak where he later retired in 2006.

William was a pillar within his family and community. He was always willing to volunteer his time to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed within his retirement community of Kings Crossings in Bel Air, Maryland.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 24 years Deborah; his two sons Eric and Keith; mother Mary; sister Nandell;, four grandchildren Dayvon, Erykah, Riyad and Egypt; three aunts, Evangelist Ann B. Johnson, Evangelist Lillie Rea and Elder Marion J. Cottrell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 12p.m. Saturday January 26, 2013 at Gospel Temple Holiness Church, 202229 Pat Town Road, Cheriton, VA. Burial will in Cape Charles Community Cemetery, Cape Charles, VA.

Hackett, Harry H.

Harry H. Hackett of Federalsburg died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 86.

Born on Oct. 31, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late Benjamin Hooper Hackett and Stella Bender Hackett.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ella Kozich Hackett, whom he married Jan. 1, 1942; a sister, Betty Anthony and her husband, Dawson, of Federalsburg and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, who died in infancy; two brothers, George Bender Hackett and James Carol Hackett and a sister, Mary Beth LeCates.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Dan Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Federalsburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 1:30 p.m., followed by a V.F.W. service at 1:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association of Maryland, 1840 York Rd., Timonium, Md. 21093.

Jackson, Sharmetta Ann

Shametta Ann Jackson departed this life on January 8, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was born July 25, 1958 in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Betty Mitchell and the late Charles "Chappic" Mitchell.

Sharmetta Jackson accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Ames United Methodist Church in Bel Air, Maryland. She was later baptized at the New Hope Baptist Church and became a deaconess in 2003.

She received her education in the Harford County School system, and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1976.

Shametta started her career in 1979 at the Forest Hill Bank. In September 1988, she furthered her career at the Harford County Government until she retired in February 2005.

Shametta was the family matriarch and worked diligently at keeping family ties and relationships. She was known for organizing and hosting church and family gatherings. She exemplified hospitality throughout her community extending beyond family and friends.

Sharmetta had many hobbies, she valued her Norman Rockwell collection, and she also enjoyed theatrical activities and entertaining family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 13 years Cordell Jackson Sr., daughter Lakeisha Akins, son Cordell Jackson Jr., granddaughter Shayla Akins, mother Betty Mitchell, sister Cheryl Edwards (Aubrey), brother Charles DeShields, nephew Armand Edwards, niece Daria DeShields, mother-in-law Louise Jackson, brother-in-law Norman Jackson (Sidney), brother-in-law William Jackson (Donna), brother-in-law Wilber Jackson (Edna), sister-in-law Valeria Jackson, aunts, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 11a.m. Saturday January 14, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church, 116 Alice Ann Street, Bel Air, MD, where family will also be greeting relatives and friends starting at 10 a.m.

Trusty, Blanche Elizabeth

Blanche Elizabeth Trusty was born on January 29, 1931 in Manhattan, New York to the late Walter and Rosetta Jaudon. She departed this life on January 10, 2012 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

She was educated and attended Public School Ten in New York. Her parents relocated to Ashleyville, South Carolina, where she attended and graduated from Demming Consolidated School in 1947. Later she married her high school sweetheart, Marion Ulysses Hamilton Jr., and from that union five children were born. After the passing of her husband Marion Hamilton Jr. Blanche relocated to Maryland and later married William Joseph Trusty. From that marriage, she gained three sons and two children were born. They open their hearts and their home and raised three additional children.

She was employed at Canvas Back Inn, Bata Shoe Company, and Perry Point Veteran Administration Medical Hospital where she retired after 30 years in 1997 as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Blanche was a member of Immanuel A.M.E. Church where she was a member of the Ashley Gospel singers in Ashleyville, SC. for many years. After moving to Maryland, she became a faithful member of Gospel Tabernacle Church and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost on July 3, 1962.

Her hobbies were cooking, crocheting, knitting, singing, and playing board games. Blanche loved working with children.

She was the founder and president of the Little Lights Choir for 37 years, Director of Vacation Bible School, President of the Missionary Department, the Sunday School Primary Teacher, Assistant Secretary of the Convention, and held many offices in the United District Council.

She leaves to cherish her memory 10 children: Madeline M. (and John) Lane of Aberdeen, MD, Linda A. (and Gregory) Gibson Sr; of North East, MD, Jacqueline L. (and James) Dyson of San Antonio, TX, Marion U. (and Ellen) Hamilton III of Havre de Grace, MD; Raymond L. (and Faye) Hamilton of Fort Washington, MD; Leah J. (and Harold) Warfield of Havre de Grace, MD, Mark A. (and Sandra) Trusty Sr. of Joppatowne, MD; Claudette M. Ray of Aberdeen, MD; William (and Rosa) Trusty Jr. of Reisterstown, MD; Eugene Trusty of Baltimore, MD; and one son-in-law John Caldwell (Pete) of Bear, DE.

Four siblings: Lillian (and William) Brown of Aberdeen, MD; Rosetta Davis of Charleston, SC; Mary Taylor of Aberdeen, MD; and Walter (and Audrey) Jaudon, Jr. of Charleston, SC. Four sister-in-laws, Florence Tally of Baltimore, MD, Janette (and Herman) Izzard of New Milford, CT, Audrey (and Edward) Gardner of PA and Leitha Hubbard of Mount Vernon, NY and one godson Samuel Murray of Baltimore, MD; and a devoted friend, Jennie Ancrum of Charleston, SC

Blanche has 34 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and adopted children.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Rosetta Jaudon. Her husband's Marion Hamilton, Jr. and William Trusty, Sr., one daughter Cheryl Caldwell; two sons Charles (and wife Sarah) Trusty and Claude Ray; two grandsons Franklin Travers, Jr., Ernest Tillery (Beaver) and great-grandchildren, Nasia Marie Travers and Seth Douglas Gibson.

Visitation will be held Friday January 13, 2012, 6p.m.-8p.m. at Gospel Tabernacle Church, 330 Superior Street, Havre de Grace, MD and Saturday January 14, 2012, 2 p.m.-3p.m. at Helping Hands Ministries, 3237 Level Road, Churchville, MD where services will start at 3p.m. Burial will be on Monday January 16, 2012, 11a.m. at Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, MD.

Ebert, Esther Grace

Esther Grace Ebert was born on October 10, 1926 in Forsyth County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Belvin Ebert and Minnie H. Patterson. She was married to Tom Bray. To this union two children were born, Tom and Doris Elizabeth Bray. She fulfilled her earthly destiny on February 15, 2012 at Lorien Nursing Facility, Belcamp, MD.

Esther confessed her faith and grew up in the Moravian Church in Winston Salem, NC. In 1993 she joined Russell Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, PA., where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, musician and trustee. Music was a way of life for her. She served as the musician for the Chaplain's Service at Perry Point V.A. Medical for 29 years. She also served as a volunteer and accumulated16,000 hours for her service.

Esther, fondly known as "Aunt Grace" to her family, leaves to cherish her memory, a son and devoted wife Tom and Sue Bray; niece Genet and Stan Hutcheson; nephew, Lloyd and Shelby Fischel; The Cofield Family (Melanie, Marvin, John, Marvin, Jr., Ebony Kaylan), The Richardson Family (Reverend's John, Delores and Solomon Edward); and friend/neighbor Margaret Harlan.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Lisa Scott Funeral Home, 552 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.

Morgan, David E.

Air Force

David E. Morgan, 83, of Hurlock passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Frederick, MD on June 20, 1928 and was a son of the late Dale and Lottie Morgan.

He was born and raised in Frederick, MD. On January 10, 1951 he married the former Gloria Hawker. He served 22 years in the military. He had 2 years in the U.S. Navy and 20 years with the U.S Air Force. Mr. Morgan served during the Korean Conflict and was an EOD Specialist.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Gloria A. Morgan of Hurlock, a son Steven L. Morgan of Severn, MD and a daughter Robin R. Vanskiver and husband Robert of Glen Burnie.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock with Rev. J. Edward King officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
