Lacy, Joan Elizabeth

Joan Elizabeth Lacy of Galestown, MD known fondly as "Joanie" passed away at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, MD on Thursday, October 19, 2006. She was 42.

She was born on December 9, 1963 in Washington, D.C. the daughter of Francis "Franny" Kernan Barnhard of Frankford, DE, and the late John W. Barnhard, Sr.

She was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School. She had worked for eighteen years as a bus driver for the Montgomery County School System. She was a motorcycle enthusiast, she enjoyed fishing, and loved all animals especially horses.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ronnie Lee Lacy of Laurel, DE, two sons, Brandon Clay Begley of King George, VA, John Payton Lacy, III of Galestown, MD, two step-children, John Wilson Lacy and Amber Lee Bradley both of Nashville, TN, two brothers, John W. "Jay" Barnhard, Jr. of Frankford, DE, Timothy H. "Tim" Barnhard of Elkridge, MD, a sister, Patricia Ann "Patti" Feldman of Clearwater, FL, devoted friends, Phillip James Brock, Sr. of Galestown, Adina H. Barnett of Rhodesdale, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with Rev. Delmer Willey officiating. Interment will follow at Brookview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her memory to the Brookview United Methodist Church c/o Clark Simms, 5474 Indiantown Rd., Rhodesdale, MD 21659 or to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Fairbanks, Sr., Samuel L.

Samuel L. 'Pop' Fairbanks, Sr., 80, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at his home. He was born in Trappe on February 17, 1927 and was a son of the late George E. and Maggie Lewis Fairbanks.

Mr. Fairbanks attended public schools in Trappe and Cambridge. As a young man he worked for Atlantic Ice Company. In 1945 he joined the U.S. Army until 1946 when he received his honorable discharge. After serving in the U.S. Army he worked for the City of Cambridge as superintendent in Waste Water Management for twenty five years and retired in 1975. In 1976 he went back to work for the town of Secretary as superintendent for Waste Water Management and retired in 1993. On October 17, 1953 he married Jeanette M. Faulkner who passed away on August 22, 1984. Some of his hobbies were wood working, walking and fishing. Mr. Fairbanks was a past member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge.

He is survived by a daughter Brenda Hubbard and husband Alvin Hubbard, Jr. of Cambridge, a son Samuel L. Fairbanks, Jr. and finances' Sherry Travers of Federalsburg, a grandson Alvin Hubbard III, 3 granddaughters Shannon Adkins, Trisha Marie Fairbanks Lemay and husband Jody and Samantha Lynn Fairbanks, 2 great grandchildren Harley Marie Hubbard and Valearia Ruth Hubbard, a brother Richard H. Fairbanks of Cambridge, many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Fairbanks is preceded in death by three sisters Peggy Fairbanks, Willey Fairbanks, Elizabeth Fairbanks and two brothers Raymond Fairbanks and James Fairbanks.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David J. Wooten, Jr. officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, 209 C, Milford St., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Fackler, Marjorie Earler

Marjorie Earle Fackler, age 79, died Wednesday, October 29, 2003. Born in McKenney, VA, she was a long time resident of Richmond. She was preceded in death by her parents Alma Roberts Fackler and Melvin H. Fackler and a brother Melvin A. Fackler. She was a former employee of Children's Hospital, The Richmond Times Dispatch and the Girl Scouts of America.

She is survived by cousins, Joseph Roberts, Jr., and wife Tommie, Dorothy R. Baugh, Max Roberts and wife Cornelia and her aunt Lena Roberts and numerous other cousins.

Graveside services will be held Sunday November 2, 2003 at 3:30 P.M. in Concord Presbyterian Church in Rawlings, VA. Arrangements are being handled by E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights.

Macer, Ida Rebecca Wongus

Ida Rebecca Wongus Macer of Federalsburg, MD, known fondly as "Becky" died Monday, April 19, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was 79.

She was born on August 19, 1924, the daughter of the late Willie F. Wongus and Isabella Bowens Wongus.

She worked at Maryland Plastics in Federalsburg for over fifty-five years retiring in 1999 as a press operator. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Eldorado, MD. She sang in the Wonder Star Choir. She was also a wonderful homemaker and served her family as the "Family Advisor".

She is survived by her children, Dora Jackson and Dorothy Adams both of Federalsburg, Alphonso Macer of Cordova, and Floretta Austin of Seaford, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Baynard of Concord, MD, three brothers, Daniel and Otho Wongus both of Cambridge, and Eddie Ross of Baltimore, four children she raised as her own, Joel Macer, Yolanda Macer, Travon Nichols, and Darrell Nichols, all of Federalsburg. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabella Wongus, Dora Jones, four brothers, James Wongus, Willie Wongus, Charles Wongus, and Stephen Wongus.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 10:00 am at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg with Rev. Stanley Ricketts officiating. Interment will follow at Chester Cemetery in Rhodesdale, MD. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

John E. Jackson

Salisbury: John E. Jackson, 55, of Salisbury died on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury on January 7, 1947, he was the son of J. Everett Jackson of Salisbury and the late Margaret L. Smith Jackson.

Mr. Jackson graduated from Wicomico High School in 1968. He worked for several area grocery stores and was currently employed with Food City in Ocean Pines. He was a CB radio enthusiast.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife Carolyn F. Jackson of Salisbury, three step-children, Wayne Fisher of Salisbury, Shaun Washburn of Bethlehem, PA, and Denise Carter of Salisbury, a step-granddaughter, Meagan Fisher, a sister in law, Priscilla Jackson of Salisbury, and two nieces, Susan A. Jackson and Connie D. Jackson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerome D. 'Jerry' Jackson, who died in 1998.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main St. in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Grant L. Johnson will officiate. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Cemetery in Parsonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 635 East Church St., Salisbury, MD 21801, or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA, 23058-5216.

Mace, Helen C.

Helen C. Mace, 90, of Taylors Island, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Saturday July 19, 2003. She was born in Clark County, Virginia on June 30, 1913, and was a daughter of the late John William and Hannah Marlow Wilson.

She attended public schools in West Virginia. On December 6, 1941 she was married to Paul Edward Mace. During WW II she had worked at a Defense Plant in Pennsylvania. She later worked as a weaver in a silk mill in York, PA. She and Mr. Mace moved to Taylors Island in 1947. She received her LPN Training at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center where she worked as an LPN for 23 years until she retired in 1976. Mr. Mace passed away on October 12, 2001. Mrs. Mace was a member of Grace Episcopal Church at Taylors Island. She had been in failing health for several months, and had been a patient at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge for three months where she passed away on Saturday afternoon.

Survivors include two sons, John Jackson Corder of Wichita Falls, Texas and Paul A. Mace and his wife Lisa Mace of Taylors Island; five grandchildren, John Charles Corder, Jeffrey Corder, Sandra Corder, D'Lyn Kort and Jenifer Kort and two great granddaughters Haley and Tayler. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A Memorial Service will be conducted on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel by Rev. Bob Kirkley. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Taylors Island Vol. Fire Co., P.O. Box 277, Taylors Island, MD 21669. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

MacDonald Jr., Vincent W.

On April 24, 2005, Vincent Wade MacDonald Jr. of Cambridge. Devoted husband of the late Helen A. MacDonald; Beloved father of Mary B. McNulty and her husband Patrick, Kathleen H . Evans and her husband Stephen, Richard P. MacDonald Sr. and his wife Stephanie, Teresa A. Neild and her husband J. Richard, David P. MacDonald and his wife Victoria and the late Vincent W. MacDonald III; Loving brother of Eugene MacDonald and the late Kenneth MacDonald; Dearest grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 6.

The family will receive visitors from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM on Wednesday (4/27) at Singleton Funeral Home. The funeral ceremony will be held at 9 AM on Thursday (4/29). Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Donations in his name may be made to the Neck District Volunteer Fire Dept., 954 Cooks Point Road, Cambridge, MD 21613. Thank you.

Mack, Rita J.

On December 9, 2004, Rita Jane Mack of Glen Burnie. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Mack Sr.; Devoted mother of Irene Corbett, Robert Jr. and Joseph Mack; Loving sister of William and Richard Conrad, Theresa Edmonds and Elizabeth Dobbins and the late Robert, Thomas, Earl and John Conrad and Pauline McIntire and Pearl Nagle. Dearest grandmother of Sean Joseph Corbett and Michael Patrick Corbett.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Saturday and Sunday. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 1 PM on Monday at the Church of the Crucifixion. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.

Mackbee, Jerome

Jerome 'Jerry' Mackbee, of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Wednesday April 18, 2001. He was 52. He was born in Baltimore on July 29, 1948 and was the son of the late William G. and Henrietta Cantwell Mackbee.

He had attended schools in Baltimore, having graduated from Northeast High School in Baltimore in 1967.For a number of years he had worked as a machinist. He had made his home in Cambridge since 1986. He passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday.

He is survived by one son, Thomas J. Mackbee of Ferndale, one granddaughter, Christina R. Mackbee, his former wife. Nancy M. Mackbee of Ferndale, one brother, Steve Drury and his wife Beatrice Drury both of Baltimore; one niece, Heather Drury and two cousins, Sue Cannon and JoAnn Cox both of Cambridge.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. of Cambridge.
