Crockett, Tony Ray

TONY RAY CROCKETT, 43, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at his home.

Born in Crisfield on September 12, 1966, he was a son of Terry and Kitty Jones Crockett of Crisfield.

An independent contractor, he was a 1985 graduate of Crisfield High School. He was a member of the Crisfield Church of God where he was active in Men on a Mission.

He loved and was very devoted to his entire family and especially enjoyed time spent with his son and daughter. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is survived by his parents, Terry and Kitty Crockett of Crisfield; his wife, Tanya Lee Whitehead Crockett of Pocomoke City; his children, Marissa Donaway and Randy Ray Crockett; his brother, Terry Crockett, Jr. and his wife Christine and their children, Amber and Seth Crockett, of Westover; his brother, Aaron Sterling of Crisfield; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 3 PM at the Crisfield Church of God where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev.'s LeBron Palmer, Harvey Tyler and Greg Cox will officiate.

Donations in lieu of flowers are requested to be sent to Men on a Mission, 134 Maryland Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home.

Hinman, Patsy Lee

PATSY LEE HINMAN, 77, of Crisfield, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield where she had been a resident for the past few years.

Born in Crisfield on May 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Nina Mae Ward Blake. Her husband, James E. Hinman, died December 13, 2005.

She was a waitress at the former Windsor's Seafood, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8274 Auxiliary and the Stanley Cochrane Post #16 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by four children, Stanley Edward Killman of Oxford, Wisconsin, Rinda Lou Stewart of Panama City, Florida, Diane Marie Harris of Panama City, and George Lindsey Blevins of Eagle River, Alaska; and grandchildren, Lucas Killman, Samuel Killman, Ronald Hinman, Teresa Ward, Michelle Killman, Dallas Jeffrey Killman, Holly Noel Killman, Patti Jo Howard, Tammy Pruitt, Frances Patricia Carson, Tina Blevins, Cynthia Blevins, and James Blevins; and several great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gary Hinman, and a brother Ronald William Blake.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post#8274 Auxiliary, Cash Corner Road, Crisfield, MD 21817.

Evans, Ethelyn A.

ETHELYN A. EVANS, 89, of Crisfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past two years.

Born on Rhodes Point, Smith Island on October 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Rachel Evans. Her husband, E. Hudson Evans, preceded her in death September 14, 1973. She had been a resident of Crisfield since he passed away.

She loved being busy. On Smith Island she worked at her brothers picking house. She could sure pick a pound of crab meat with no shell! When she moved to Crisfield, she was always helping someone whether taking care of the sick or elderly, housecleaning, or cooking. She was a very good cook, and loved cooking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed walking. She walked to her daughters house almost daily, and when she went to the nursing home she enjoyed walking up and down the halls until she was too weak.

She loved the Lord. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she was active in Circle #1. On Smith Island, she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church on Rhodes Point. She also enjoyed attending the Ladies Prayer Breakfast's.

She is survived by three children, Ray Evans and his wife Carole, and Judy Thomas, all of Crisfield, and Ronald Evans and his wife Sandy of Greenbackville; six grandchildren, Robin Pruitt and her husband Freddy of Crisfield, Shelley Hanna and her husband Kenny and Tracy Evans, all of Beaufort, SC, Krista Laird and her husband Scotty of Marion, and Bobby Thomas, Jr. and Brian Thomas, both of Crisfield; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Omar and Wayne Evans; and her son-in-law, Bobby Thomas.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 15, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev.'s Terry Riggin, Kim Gilson and Nolan Ford will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to be sent to Evangelical Wesleyan Church, c/o Rev. Terry Riggin, 1121B S. Division Street, Salisbury, MD 21804 or Immanuel U. M. Church Memorial Fund, c/o Bob Bradshaw, 306 W. Main Street, Crisfield, MD 21817.

The family would like to thank Tawes Nursing Home for being so good to her. She was very satisfied there, and we love you all very much. Thank you to Pastor Terry and Barbara Riggin for bringing her beautiful flower arrangements for every occasion. They brightened her room. Also, thanks to Rev. Bob Daniels for praying with her every week.

Corbin, Donna Jean Hall

DONNA JEAN HALL CORBIN, 47, of Crisfield, died Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield October 19, 1963, she was a daughter of Ellen Jane Justice Hall of Crisfield and the late Elworth Raymond "Jr." Hall, Jr. who died April 24, 2009. Her husband, Jerome "Jerry" Corbin, preceded her in death on December 29, 2002.

She attended Crisfield Wesleyan Church and enjoyed arts and crafts, floral arranging, needlepoint, puzzles, word searches and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her mother, Ellen Jane Hall of Crisfield; her grandmother, Verna Lee Hall of Crisfield; two brothers, William James Hall and his wife Tammy and Ronald Lee Hall, all of Crisfield; two aunts, Helen Campbell and Ruby Riggin, both of Crisfield; one uncle, William "Woozie" Norris of North Carolina; two nephews, Ronald "R.J." Hall, Jr. of Crisfield and Chad Bozman of Pocomoke City; four nieces, Briaunna Hall, Amber Weinstein and Kelly Hall, all of Crisfield, and Samantha Hall of Ocean Pines; one great-nephew, Brendan Bozman of Pocomoke City; and several cousins.

Funeral services officiated by Pastor Del Wray will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to help the family with final expenses are requested to be sent in care of Helen Campbell, 26388 Christy Drive, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.

Crockett, Helen Elizabeth

HELEN ELIZABETH CROCKETT, 87, of Tangier Island, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at her home.

Born July 20, 1922 on Tangier, she was a daughter of the late Lorenzo and Lela Parks Crockett. Her husband, Dorsey Jennings Crockett, preceded her in death June 2, 1983.

She was a member of Swain Memorial United Methodist Church on Tangier. She served as a mid-wife for many years supporting Doctors Gladstone, Kato, White, Parks and Watson, and also was a cook at the Chesapeake House for many years.

She is survived by five children, Dorsey Crockett, Sandra Wheatley (Wayne), and Jeff Crockett (Nancy), all of Tangier, Marion Carson (Lee) of Crisfield, and Wes Crockett (Nancy) of Melfa; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Lester Crockett, Willie Crockett, Corine Bowden, Mildred Crockett, Margaret Laird, and her twin sister, Ruth Sommers; and two grandchildren, Clint Crockett and Neil Crockett.

Funeral services officiated by Rev. Patricia Stover will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 2 PM at Swain Memorial U. M. Church on Tangier where friends may call Friday evening from 7-9PM. Interment will be in the Crockett Family Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Swain Church Parsonage Fund or to the Swain Church Memorial Fund, both Tangier, VA 23440.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

Hill, Jeanette T.

JEANETTE THORNTON HILL, 95, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past nine years.

Born in Crisfield May 8, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Missouri Mister Thornton. Her husband, Ray Wilson Hill, died in 1990.

She was a homemaker and also worked formerly as a seamstress at several local clothing manufacturers and at the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens.

She was a member of the Crisfield Wesleyan Church and loved being with her family.

She is survived by two children, Shirley Rae Butterworth of Rockdale, Texas and Raymond E. Hill of Crisfield; grandchildren, Scott and Steven Butterworth, Rhonda Daum, Patty Ann Hill Albert and Donna Lynn Hill Crockett; great-grandchildren, David and Nicholas Albert and Beth Ann and Wesley Crockett; and several other family members.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Hill in 1992; a brother, Robert Thornton; and a sister, Myrtle Nelson.

Following cremation, a memorial services will be held May 8, 2010 at the Crisfield Wesleyan Church. Urn interment will be in Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
