Scott, Jr., Harold S.

Fire Department

Harold S. Scott, Jr., 57, of Salisbury, died on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical in Salisbury.

Born in Crisfield, December 24, 1952, he was the son of Mary E. Wilson Scott of Salisbury, and the late Harold S. Scott. He was a salesman for K & C Associates.

Harold was a former member of the Salisbury Fire Dept. (Station 2), and a current member of the Westside Vol. Fire Dept., (Station 12) in Bivalve. He was just voted to honorary status because of his failing health. Other memberships were the National Wild Turkey Federation, Quails Unlimited, Buckmasters, and Help Feed the Hungry Program. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as well. He loved the Lord, was a lover of animals, and was a friend to all. He always enjoyed making his family and friends laugh and smile.

Surviving besides his mother are his daughters, Kasey Scott-Windsor and her husband John of Salisbury, and Caitlin Scott of Vista, CA; two sisters, Vickie Lynn Scott of Manassas, VA, and Dixie Ruark and her husband Robert of Fruitland; one grandson, John Wesley Windsor, III; and his cat, Furby.

A firemen's funeral will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Ruth Chamberlain will officiate. Interment will follow in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

Donations in Harold's memory may be made to the Westside Vol. Fire Dept., P.O. Box 85, Bivalve, MD 21814.

Harris, Olivia Ruth Marsh

OLIVIA RUTH MARSH HARRIS, 75, of Reedville, VA, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Born May 3, 1934 on Rhodes Point, Smith Island, she was a daughter of the late William C. and Clara Jane Sneade Marsh. She had been a resident of Reedville for the past 29 years.

She was a homemaker and a member of Fairport Baptist Church in Reedville where she was active in the Women's Missionary Union.

Being a homemaker was her pride and joy. She loved to cook and clean, and she worked many hours taking care of her yard and gardening. She was also a wonderful caretaker to anyone who was ill or needed help. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Most especially, she enjoyed visits from all the little children in her family who brought much pleasure and company to her when she was confined to her home.

She is survived by her daughter and special son-in-law, Gladys Jane and Glen Bishop of Marion Station, Maryland; three grandchildren, Allison Marsh and Scottie Marsh of Crisfield, Maryland and Donnie B. Marsh of Rhodes Point; a great-grandson, Carter Marsh of Crisfield; a daughter-in-law, Arbutus Marsh of Rhodes Point; two sisters, Mildred Tyler of Rhodes Point and Gladys Haynie of Reedville; a special step-son, Timothy Harris and his wife Linda of McGaheysville, VA; a special aunt, Lena Sneade of Rhodes Point; three other step-children; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Buster" Harris in 2004; and two sons, Donnie Marsh in 1982 and Larry Marsh in 2005.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2 PM at Fairport Baptist Church in Reedville where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Neale Schools will officiate. Interment will follow in Roseland Cemetery in Reedville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Fairport Baptist Church, c/o Reuben Thrift, 2399 Fairport Road, Reedville, Virginia 22539.

Taylor, Arnold Clifford "Hillbilly

Arnold Clifford "Hillbilly" Taylor, 63, a resident of Crisfield since 1969, died on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his home.

Born in Quick, West Virginia on April 3, 1946, he was the son of the late Vesta Ellen Taylor Mullins. He worked 20 years for the former Mrs. Paul's Kitchens in Crisfield and retired when they closed. He was a volunteer for the Peace Corps. His wife, Rosemary Martin Taylor died on Dec. 28, 2002.

He loved to hunt and fish, and loved to be with his family. He was a loving family man who will be missed by all.

Surviving are two daughters, Sherry and Candace Taylor of Crisfield; a sister, Ruth Leef of Marion Station; brothers-in-law, Bruce Martin of Crisfield, and Paul Martin of Princess Anne; sisters-in-law, Shirley Crockett and Linda Mister, both of Crisfield and Kathy Byrd of Parsonsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was one of 17 brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to his family at 4237 Hill Lane, Crisfield, MD 21817.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home.

Tyler, Gerald T.

Gerald T. Tyler, 77, of Crisfield, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield.

Born on Tylerton, Smith Island April 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Thomas Tyler and Nola Tyler. He retired as a tug boat Captain after 34 years.

He was a member of the Union United Methodist Church on Tylerton and the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Crisfield. He was also a member of the Chesapeake Masonic Lodge # 147 AF & AM, York Rite Commandry, Boumi Temple Shrine, the Accohannock Indian Tribe, and loved beachcombing looking for arrowheads and driftwood.

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Beulah Frances Carey Tyler; three sons, Gerald T. "Tommy" Tyler, Jr. (Tina) of St. Michaels, Clarence Tyler (Vivian) of Princess Anne, and Danny Tyler (Sally) of Tylerton; two daughters, Cindy Tyler of Vermont, and Tara Whittington (James) of Crisfield; also survived by 14 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, and step-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. The Rev. Debra Pierce Dunn will officiate. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

In his memory donations may be made to the Tylerton Fire & Rescue Squad, Tylerton, MD 21866 or the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway, Crisfield, MD 21817.

Coiro, Raineyl V.

RAINEYL V. COIRO, 63, of Westover, MD, went to be with our "Father" on Monday, February 22, 2010 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

She was born in New Brunswick, NJ, the daughter of the late Randall and Augustine St. Claire.

She attended high school at Girls High School in Philadelphia, PA. She received her undergrad in English from Cheyney University and received her Masters in Library Science from the University of Maryland College Park. She also received an Honorary Degree recently from Harvard University.

Mrs. Coiro was the director of Eastern Shore Regional Library working 30 years and was planning to retire in June. She devised numerous literacy projects all over the state.

She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Women Supporting Women Crisfield Chapter.

She loved to visit with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed going "yard-saleing", cooking, baking, traveling and classical music. Mrs. Coiro was also an accomplished cellist, playing with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra for several years.

She is survived by her husband, Captain Carmine Coiro; a son, Randall LaBarron Mitchell and his wife Tara; a daughter, Bernice De'von Mitchell; step-sons, Donald, John, and Charlie Coiro; grandchildren, Chelsea Mitchell, Candido and Alphonso Ortiz' Robles, Christine, Candice, Jessica, Brittney, Emily, and Heather Coiro, Michael Dennis, Kourtney White, Shanique Campbell; a special nephew, Michael Rich; many great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Above all, Raineyl devoted her life to her family and educating others.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 4 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call one hour prior. The Rev. Tommy Maddox will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Women Supporting Women Crisfield Chapter, 609 W. Main Street - Unit 105, Crisfield, Maryland 21817.

Holland, Priscilla Evans

PRISCILLA EVANS HOLLAND, 91, of Crisfield, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield.

Born on Rhodes Point, Smith Island January 31, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Otis P. and Lydia Evans. Her husband of 53 years, Edward T. "Sonny" Holland, preceded her in death November 27, 1993.

She moved to Crisfield in 1933 and graduated from Crisfield High School in 1936. She attended the former Salisbury State Teachers College for two years. She married her husband in 1940, and together they owned and operated the former Holland's Grocery and Restaurant until 1968. Mrs. Holland then worked for the Somerset County Board of Education as a teacher's aide for 20 years.

She was a faithful member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield where she sang in the choir, and was active in the Wharton Sunday Class and the UMW Circle #1. She was also Past President of the PTA of the former Elementary #3, was a lifetime member of the former Eastern Star Chapter #28 for more than 50 years, and was a member of the Women's Civic Club.

She is survived by her son, Edward Bryan Holland and his wife Linda of Pocomoke City; four grandchildren, Dana Thomas, Daniel Smith, Dustin Smith and Edward Bryan "Eddie" Holland, Jr. and his fiancé Valerie Miller; three great-grandchildren, Kylie Nicole Holland, Deacon Edward Smith Hunter, and Dakota Christine Stein; one sister, Ruth Evans Sterling of Crisfield; two special nieces, Connie Watson and her husband Ernie of Salisbury and Beverly Purnell and her husband P.J. of Crisfield; one son-in-law, Eddie Russ Smith of Tylerton; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Davis Holland of Ocean City and Lois Jean and Jimmy Beaver of Temecula, California; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Holland Smith on August 21, 2009.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield where friends may call two hours prior. The Rev. Kim Gilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyridge Memorial Park in Crisfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory are requested to be sent to Immanuel U. M. Church Memorial Fund, c/o Robert H. Bradshaw, Jr., 306 W. Main Street; Tawes Nursing Home Building Fund, 201 Hall Highway; or Lower Somerset County Ambulance and Rescue Squad, LSCARS, P.O. Box 406, all Crisfield, MD 21817.
