Kenly, Janine G.

JANINE GERTRUDE KENLY, affectionately called "Janie", was born on October 6, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland to Agnes and Charles Akins. She departed this life on Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Edgewood, Maryland.

She received her education through the Harford County Public School Systems. She was a member of El Shaddai Temple of Jesus Christ where she was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Pastor Keith Holley.

She was formerly employed at THE GAP. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a fun and loving individual.

She leaves to cherish her memory; 2 children, Christianna Hightower and Richard Kenly, Jr, of Minnesota; 3 grandchildren, Nutrell Artis, Nashae Artis and Kaliyah Brown; 3 brothers, Norman, Edward and James; 2 sisters, Hilberta and Mary; a host of aunts and uncles; close friend, Romanda Hines "Peaches"; 1 niece, Yukeia; 1 nephew Carl; 2 great nieces; 3 great nephews; and a host family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Agnes and Charles Akins and granddaughter, Kalea Brown

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 21, 2010, 5p.m.-7p.m. at Lisa Scott Funeral Home, Havre de Grace, MD and Wednesday September 22, 2010, 10a.m.-11a.m. with funeral starting 11 a.m. at El Shaddai Temple of Jesus Church, 7004 Golden Ring Road, Rosedale, MD. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.

Edwards, Dorothy Elizabeth

DOROTHY ELIZABETH EDWARDS surrendered this life on Friday, February 26, 2010. She was born August 10, 1927 to late Herbert and Edna Walton.

She received her education at Bel Air Colored High School and was employed by families in Harford County in a domestic capacity. She retired working from Peter Jay Jr. after 43 years of service.

Dorothy accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She was a faithful member of Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Church. She held positions as a Missionary, a Steward, Choir member and hospitality worker. She also headed the Sunshine Club.

On March 9, 1946 she married Jesse L. Edwards, Sr., and from that union six children were born; Jesse L. Jr., Linda, Sharon, Robbin, Lawana, and Rodney.

Dorothy was affectionately known as "Lover". She enjoyed family holiday gatherings. She wore a smile for every occasion. She gave her time freely from her heart. She loved working in her yard planting flowers. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of her day. She loved them dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory; Jesse L. Edwards, Jr., Aberdeen, Maryland, Linda Brown, Fayettesville, North Carolina, Sharon Hall, Aberdeen, Maryland, Robbin Thomas (Jackie), Copperas Cove, Texas, Lawana Perkins (Kenneth), Joppa, Maryland. She had 4 grandsons, Martin Brown, Aaron Edwards, James Hall IV and Jackie Thomas, Jr.; 1 granddaughter, Brianna McClairn; 7 great grandchildren; 1 brother Clarence Walton; 3 sister-in-laws, Hazel Yeoman, Mary Jane Walton, and Essie Smith; 1 brother-in-law, Ernest Buchanan; and a host of nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends;

She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Edwards, son-in-law, James Brown, brother, Jimmy Walton, and sister, Catherine Buchanan.

Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday March 6, 2010 at Word of Faith International Ministries, 1301 Loflin Road, Aberdee, MD where friends may call one hour prior. Friends may also call Friday March 5, 2010 at Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Church, 818 Coen Road, Street, MD from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Cemetery, Street, MD.

Christ, Sr., Robert A.

On the morning of December 6, 2010, Robert A. Christy, Sr. answered the Master's call and quietly departed this life at Citizen Rehabilitation Center in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Robert A. Christy, Sr. was born on April 20, 1934 in Aberdeen. He was the son of the late Walter Alonzo Christy and Sarah Elizabeth Christy. He was the fifth of nine children.

He was employed by Hinder Motors (Lincoln Mercury). He was the Parts Manager and retired after 32 years of service.

Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory; Robert A. Christy, Jr. (Crystal), Edgewood, Maryland, Sharon A. Christy, Edgewood, Maryland, Thomas M. Christy, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Gregory C. (Shirley) Christy, Pennsylvania; 9 grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mary Woodson, Havre de Grace, Maryland, Catherine Campbell, Detroit, Michigan, France Dorman, Havre de Grace, and Margaret Pauline Woods, Camden, New Jersey; I brother-in-law, Howard Jackson; special friends, Ms. Olivia Richardson, Ms. Lavinia Swann and Ms. Rebe and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins

He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Marlene Christy Jackson, Grace Christy and Viola Christy; and 1 brother, James Christy.

A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday December 11, 2010 at Lisa Scott Funeral Home, 552 Lewis Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be private.

Jackson, Marc C.

Marc Carlton Jackson, affectionately known as "Action Jackson" age 51, was born in Harford Memorial Hospital on August 30, 1958 to the late John Watson and Marguerite Carroll Reliford. Marc was called home to glory with his Lord and Savior on May 9, 2010 at 2:50 a.m at The University of Maryland Medical Center Baltimore.

Marc was educated in the Harford County Public School system and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1976. He then enrolled in Harford Community College where he was studying Criminal Justice but soon after decided to enlist in the US army where he served his military tour in parts of Europe and the United States. Marc was a trained paramedic, an active member of the Baltimore County Volunteer Fireman's Association, an avid baseball fan and had a passion for working with troubled youth; his latest job was working with the children at "Cheltenham Youth Detention Facility" which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Marc was led to the Lord Jesus Christ his savior at an early age by his grandmother Mrs. Margarette East Johns founder ofthe Aberdeen Bible Church. Marc was a dedicated and active member of Victory Christian Fellowship in New Castle, Delaware, World Changers International in Atlanta, Georgia and Victory Christian Ministries International in Suitland Maryland where he was actively a part of the youth and singles ministries.

Marc was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Garnie C. Reliford and leaves to forever cherish his memory; His sisters; Leslie and Dorothy Reliford and Kimberly Bullock Brother in Law; Anthony Bullock, Nephews; Damon and Brandon Presberry, Anthony and Steven Reliford and Jeffery Barton, Nieces; Kiana and Brit-ne' Barton, Jinnell Lane, Cameia Hall and Danyale Reliford, Three great nieces and Three great nephews. Four Loving Aunts; Janice Grant, Theresa McMillan, Sharron and Earnestine Morehead. Four Uncles; Woodrow Grant, Timothy and Tommy Morehead, Gerald Johns and Greer McMillan. Close friends; Larry and Veronica Williams, Steven Smith, Timothy Kirchner, Clarence Ridgeley, Jarvis Smith,

Herman Copeland and Gifford Wilson and he leaves to cherish his memory, a host of other beloved relatives and friends.

Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday May 15, 2010 at Helping Hands Ministries, 3237 Level Road, Churchville, MD where friends may call starting at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may also call Friday May 14, 2010 6-8pm at Lisa Scott Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary U.A.M.E. Cemetery, Aberdeen, MD.

Cook, Charles

CHARLES COOK, the son of the late Theodore Cook and Elmira Barnes, was born on August 2, 1935 in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He departed from this life in the early morning of November 22, 2010.

He received his education in Harford County and graduated from Havre de Grace Consolidated School in 1955.

Upon graduation from High school he served briefly in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge.

Sonny, as he was affectionately known, was employed as a custodial engineer for the Harford County Board of Education in 1965 at Oakington Elementary School, later renamed Roye-Williams Elementary School. Sonny was transferred to Havre de Grace Middle School when it opened in 1967, where he stayed until retirement in 1995 for a total of thirty years of service to the Harford County Board of Education.

Sonny was a very gifted artist, and had his work displayed at the school where he worked. He was also happy to paint pictures for family and friends. He had a love for music; he especially enjoyed playing the guitar. He also loved his fish—both catching and eating them.

One who was always seen to be even-tempered, Sonny was known as a kind and gentle person.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memory: his four nephews, Norman Melvin Barnes, Aberdeen Maryland; Daniel Lee Barnes (Iris), Havre de Grace, Maryland; James Eugene Barnes, Cumberland, Maryland; Terry Leroy Barnes, Germany; one niece, Tabitha Louise Stokes, Columbus, Ohio; cousin, Russell Barnes(Anna), Havre de Grace, Maryland; and a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents -father, Theodore Cook; mother, Elmira Barnes; his sister Henrietta Barnes; and his niece, Elmira Bernice Barnes.

Visitation will be Sunday November 28, 2010, 3p.m.-4p.m.with funeral starting 4 p.m. at Helping Hands Ministries, Churchville, MD. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.

Galloway, Mary Virginia

MARY VIRGINIA GALLOWAY was born on May 9, 1925 to the late Norman and Goldie Parson. She departed this life on Friday, November 19, 2010 at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Mary received her education in her home. She later was united in holy matrimony to the late Alfred Galloway.

She was employed as a domestic engineer for over 20 years at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Alvin Sirkis, Havre de Grace, Maryland. She also enjoyed drawing.

She leaves to mourn; 3 sisters, Victoria Lisby, Selena Witherspoon and Betty Rice and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday November 27, 2010, 10a.m.-12p.m.with funeral starting 12 p.m. at St. Matthew A.U.M.P. Church, 563 Revolution Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Burial will be in St. James United Cemetery, Havre de Grace, MD.
