Abbott, James L. "Bones"

JAMES L. "BONES" ABBOTT, 65, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born in Deal Island on July 29, 1942, he was the son of the late Frank and Lola White Abbott.

He worked in construction and on the water until he was injured and became disabled in 1978. He was affiliated with the Crisfield Church of God and enjoyed visits from Rev. Philip Morris. He was an avid NASCAR fan who enjoyed watching War and Western Movies. He also loved spending time with his friends at Somers Crab Pots in Crisfield.

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Linda J. Somers Abbott of Crisfield; two children, James M. Abbott and Rita Lynn Parkinson and husband J.P., all of Crisfield; nine grandchildren, Ashley and Jamie Abbott of Jefferson City, Tennessee, Shannon and Allison Abbott of Pocomoke City, and Vicki Abbott and Daniel, Darin, Joshua, and Jordan "Bubba" Parkinson, all of Crisfield; one sister, Rita Mae Harris of Crisfield; five brothers, Jack Abbott and wife Kathie of Port Charlotte, Florida, Gordon Abbott and fiancé Kim Curtis of Laurel, Delaware, and Albert Culbertson and wife Diane, Jerry Culbertson and wife Julie and Larry Abbott and wife Ethel, all of Crisfield; a special nurse, Donna White; his pet dog, "B.J."; pet cat, "Dixie"; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Abbott and a granddaughter, Kayla Abbott.

Graveside funeral services and interment will be held Monday, January 7, 2008 at 2 PM at Asbury Cemetery in Crisfield. The Rev. Philip Morris will officiate. Friends may call Monday from 1-2 PM at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield. There will be a procession to the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are requested to be sent to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Maryland Chapter, 11350 McCormick Road, Executive Plaza III, Suite 100, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.

Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

Abbott Jr., Lewis A. "LA"

Lewis A. "LA" Abbott Jr., of Salisbury, departed this life Sunday morning, May 23, 2004 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Columbia, MD after being transferred from University of Maryland Neuro-Care in Baltimore after a short and critical illness. He was the loving and dedicated son of Rosalind Mills Abbott and Lewis Alexander Abbott who preceded him in death in 1961.

L.A. was a 1970 graduate of James M. Bennett High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville. He returned to the Eastern Shore after college and spent the remainder of his life working as a real estate developer, builder and property owner in addition to affiliations with Mid-Atlantic Heating & Air, Tri-State Insulation and Temco Builders. His most current development is Breckenridge I and II, a single family housing development in Delmar, MD.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 29 years, Danna Linn Abbott; two precious children: Lewis A. Abbott III (Lex) and Jenna Abbott of Salisbury; a sister, Linda Anne Abbott of Salisbury formerly of Fairfax, VA; a brother, Ronald Lee Abbott and his wife, Marcy of Ocean City; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janie and James Linn; a sister-in-law and her husband, Kerry Linn and Steve Burger; three nieces: Stephanie, Katelin and Laura of Warren, NJ and several aunts, uncles and many cousins.

L.A. valued and cherished his lifelong friendships and business acquaintances and the many, many special occasions spent with his family.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2004 at 11 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Dr. David C. Tontonoz will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Peninsula Regional Medical Center Building Fund, 100 E. Carroll St., Salisbury, MD 21801.

Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Cagiwa, Gary Bernard

Gary Bernard Cagiwa, 51 of Fruitland, died Friday, January 28, 2005 at his home in Fruitland, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of Clara Geraldine (Cagiwa) Young and the late Bernard Galivo Cagiwa.

Gary was an Early Childhood Teacher for the Early Choices Program and was employed by Lake Forest School District for 13 years, where he was nominated Teacher of the Year. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury, where he taught pre-school religious education. Gary loved to coach girls softball through the Wicimico County Parks and Recreation Dept. and also coached several travel teams. His number one sports love was being an avid fisherman, freshwater, saltwater, and surf fishing. He was also a die-hard Washington Redskins fan. Many people will remember Gary as a bartender at the Royal Exchange Pub, where he worked for 13 years. He will also be remembered for being a musician, playing piano and guitar.

He is survived by his wife, June Marie (Hillock) Cagiwa; son, Justin Gary and two daughters, Emily June and Rachel Nicole all of Fruitland; a mother and stepfather, Clara and Thomas Young of Lady Lake, FL; a brother, Lawrence Cagiwa, sister-in-law, Linda Cagiwa, and a niece, Danielle Cagiwa, all of Waldorf; a mother-in-law, June Brandenburg and her husband, Malcolm, both of Fenwick Island, DE.

Visitation will be held at Holloway Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, February 1, 2005 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a prayer service starting at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. Reception immediately following mass at Goin' Nuts Café in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Education Fund for the children of Gary B. Cagiwa, c/o Mercentile Peninsula Bank, Attention: Kelly Adkins, 1512 S. Salisbury Blvd., Salisbury, MD 21801.

HARRY RAHR CALDABAUGH

Salisbury - Harry Rahr Caldabaugh, 90, died peacefully at his home, Sunday, June 1, 2003. Born in Wheeling, WV he was the son of the late Mabel Wallace Rahr and Harry Edward Caldabaugh. He was preceded in death by the late Eleanor Long Caldabaugh, the love of his life, business partner, and wife of 54 years.

He is survived by a brother Jack Caldabaugh of HighPoint, NC, a son and daughter-in-law H.B. and Colleen Caldabaugh of Salisbury, a son and daughter-in-law K.C. and Tama Caldabaugh of Ponte Verda Beach, FL, two granddaughters; Karen Mills of Virginia Beach, VA and Kris Kirby of Chesapeake, VA, two grandsons; Kevin and Kyle Caldabaugh of Ponte Verda Beach, FL, a great-grandson Stefan Mills, two great-granddaughters, Kylie and Kinsey Kirby, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express thanks to Juanita Parsons, Coastal Hospice, and all those who provided companionship, comfort, and support.

Mr. Caldabaugh graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan with a degree in Math. He acquired his Masters Degree from Duke in Educational Psychology. He taught in Keyser and Elk Garden, WV. Upon moving to Salisbury, he taught at Princess Anne High School and Hebron. In 1950 he established Boulevard TV in Salisbury. In 1955 he and his wife founded Caldabaugh Communications Inc. where he was president until his retirement in 1990.

His many interests included ham radio (call sign W3LUV). He earned his pilot's license when he was 58 years old and flew his own plane until he was 85. He was an avid photographer, with his own color darkroom. He also enjoyed camping and hunting. He went to Africa on safari when he was 80, and took several bear hunting trips to Canada after that.

Friends may call at Bounds Funeral Home tonight from 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church where friends may call from 10-11 AM. The Rev. George R. Patterson will officiate. Interment will follow in Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of the deceased to the, Eleanor L. Caldabaugh Scholarship Fund, Soroptimist International of Salisbury, C/O Marjorie Andrews, 5275 Joy Row Lane, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Yates, Phillip Tolley

Phillip Tolley Yates, 20 of Tyaskin, died Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Christiana Care Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Salisbury he was the loving son of Edwin "Rob" Yates of Hebron and Delena Marie Yates of Whitehaven.

Phillip was formerly employed at Barr Freightliner and Auto Zone. He was a 2001 graduate of Mardela High School. According to his family and friends, Phillip was a warm, caring vibrant individual, with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, old cars, motorcycles, hanging out with good friends, playing guitar and writing music. His greatest enjoyment was quality time spent with his wife and family. He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife of three years, Olga Yates of Tyaskin; a brother, Paul Edward Yates, two sisters: Crystal Lynn Stewart and Shelby Lorraine Yates all of Hebron; grandfather, Samuel Tolley Yates of Salisbury; grandmother, Mary L. DuPont of Pocomoke, father-in-law, Lubor Bajzik, mother-in-law, Olga Bajzikova, both of Slovakia; three nieces, many cousins, several aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his other family members in Slovakia.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11 AM at Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, MD. The Rev. William Cropper will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Holloway Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Insley, Betty L.

Betty L. Insley, 67 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Church Creek on May 27, 1941 and was a daughter of the late Walter R. and Maud Abbott Aaron.

Mrs. Insley attended schools in Dorchester County. On January 4, 1964 she married Carl C. Insley. She was a seamstress for 15 years at Rob Roy and then she worked on the water with her husband. Mrs. Insley enjoyed gardening.

She is survived by her husband Carl Insley of Madison, a son Gene Aaron of Hurlock, two brothers Robert L. Aaron of East New Market and Walter G. Aaron of Cambridge, a sister Dorothy Aaron of Hoopers Island, an aunt, an uncle, several nieces, nephews and sister in laws. Besides her parents, Mrs. Insley is preceded in death by a daughter Mary Ann Bright and a brother William R. Aaron.

Pallbearers will be Ken Bright, Turtle North, Freddie Spedden, Charles Moore, Howard "Boy" Frazier and Sammy Horseman.Honorary pallbearer will be Terry Vincent.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Old Trinity Churchyard with Pastor Dave Stewart officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

Cage, Barbara Ann

Barbara Ann (Akins) Cage, daughter of the late Melvin Cevis and Annie Akins was born April 13, 1961 in Darlington, MD. She departed this life on Tuesday, July, 11, 2006 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America, Philadelphia, PA at the age of 45.

She was affectionately known as "Bubby" by family members and friends.

Barbara Ann graduated from Havre De Grace High School in 1979.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Hosanna AME Church in Darlington, MD and later joined Lighthouse Ministries of Faith Church, Baltimore MD under the leadership of Pastor James W. Brooks.

Barbara Ann was joined in Holy Matrimony to Chester D. Cage on August 31, 2001.

She was a plant operator for five years at J.M. Huber Corporation, Havre De Grace, MD.

Her favorite past time was watching Court TV, playing softball, volleyball, cheerleading and spending time with her sister Roxanne and cousin Christine. She was a loving and caring person to all who she came in contact with.

Barbara Ann is survived by her husband Chester Cage, Aberdeen, MD; mother, Annie Akins, Darlington, MD; one sister, Roxanne Wright, Aberdeen, MD; two brothers, Tyrone Akins, Wilmington, DE; Paul Johnson, Baltimore, MD; five sisters-in-law, Joan Akins, Wilmington, DE; Renee Johnson, Baltimore, MD; Joan Webster (Nelson), Darlington, MD; Robin Scott (Gerald), Havre De Grace, MD; Mary Ellen Jackson (Iverson), Little Rock, AR; three brothers-in-law, Robin Wright, Aberdeen, MD; Stephen Webster (Christine), Aberdeen, MD; Jeffrey Webster, Aberdeen, MD; one Godson, Jonathan Logan, Darlington, MD; best friend Donna Gray, Havre De Grace, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Service will be held at 12 noon. on Saturday July 15, 2006 at Hosanna A.M.E. Church, 2418 Castleton Road, Darlington, MD where friends may call starting at10 a.m. Burial will be in Berkley Cemetery, Darlington, MD.
