O'Ferrall, William B.

William B. O'Ferrall, 56 of Linkwood, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Tuesday July 15, 2003. He was born in Cambridge on October 19, 1946 and was a son of Margaret Jackson O'Ferrall and the late William Franklin O'Ferrall.

Bill had attended schools in Cambridge. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 27, 1964 and served in France and Belgium as a medic. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 6, 1967. On August 24, 1971 he was married to Brenda Murphy. Bill had worked at several places and most recently had worked for the Oyster Recovery Program at Horn's Point. He had been in failing health for the past 18 months, and was taken to Dorchester General Hospital on Tuesday where he passed away.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda L. O'Ferrall of Linkwood, four children, David S. O'Ferrall of Cambridge, Laura A. Walters of Trappe, Kevin B. O'Ferrall of Dothan, Alabama, Michael J. O'Ferrall of Linkwood, six grandchildren, Matthew Walters, Jordan Walters, Lauren O'Ferrall, Aaron O'Ferrall, Amanda O'Ferrall and Dylan O'Ferrall. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret O'Ferrall of Cambridge, three brothers, Larry Lee O'Ferrall of Lanham, MD, Franklin R. O'Ferrall of East New Market, Daniel M. O'Ferrall of Camden, DE and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey officiating.. Interment will follow at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday during the hour preceding the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Walters, Phil Dunn, Kevin O'Ferrall, Michael O'Ferrall, Rodney Duadt and Brandon O'Ferrall.

Yates III, William Baine

William Baine Yates III "Baine" 64, of Salisbury and formerly of Snow Hill, died Sunday, September 28, 2003 at his home after a long illness. Born in Cambridge, MD, he was the son of the late Judge William B. Yates II and Elnora Lowe Yates.

Mr. Yates attended Cambridge High School, then Western Maryland College where he received a B.A. in Psychology. From there, he attended the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated with a Master's in Social Work. Baine began state service on September 27, 1962 at Eastern Shore State Hospital. Beginning in 1967, he was the Child Welfare Supervisor at the Dorchester County Department of Social Services. In 1972 he moved to Worcester County as the result of being appointed Director of the Department of Social Services where he has remained through September of 1996. He was an Eagle Scout and an 18 year member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Martha "Marty" Fisher Yates of Salisbury; two sons and their wives: William Sherwood and Lisa Yates of Killeen, TX and Sidney B. and Gina Yates of Grovetown, GA; a daughter and her husband, Cassy and Jim Peterson of Severn, MD; grandchildren: Lacy, Ashley, Jeffrey and Jessica Yates and Devin and Shelby Peterson and sister, Mary Veath of Cambridge, MD.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 4, 2003 at 11 AM at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Thomas McKelvey and the Mr. Hugh Dishman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Palliative Care Services or Kidney Transplant at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore or Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Arrangements are being handled by Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Rd., Salisbury, MD 21804.

Padgett, Lucille Mason

Lucille Mason Padgett, 94, a lifelong resident of Pocomoke City, died peacefully, after a short illness, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center Monday, May 31, 2004.

She was born June 3, 1909 in Pocomoke City, a daughter of the late John W. and Madoral Frances Ward Mason. Her husband, Mortimer B. Padgett, preceded her in death in 1988.

Mrs. Padgett was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City. She retired from C&P; telephone service as an operator and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Association.

She is survived by a nephew, Roger Mason and a cousin, Dorothy Thompson both of Pocomoke City; friends and care givers, Gerry and Chris Betts of Rhodesdale and Peggy Catoe of Pocomoke City.

A sister and three brothers also preceded her in death.

A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at the First Baptist Cemetery in Pocomoke City. Rev. Russell Lehman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Salem United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, Pocomoke City, MD.

CLARENCE FRANKLIN PALMER, JR.

Clarence Franklin Palmer, Jr., son of the late Clarence Franklin Palmer, Sr. and Laura Olivia Cooper Palmer, was born on April 9, 1922 at his homesite "The Ponderosa" now known as "The Christmas Farm", Wittman, MD.

After a lengthy illness, God sent his angels to summon Clarence to eternal rest on Sunday, December 7, 2003 at the Easton Memorial Hospital.

"Brother" as he was affectionately known started is education in the public schools of Talbot County. He was drafted during World War II for service in the United States Army and later received an honorary discharge.

Brother was blessed with two (2) devoted wives, Ethel Alverta Bowman who bore him five (5) children preceded him in death and Ethel Mary Howard, his present wife.

His employment years were spent working as a waterman. Brother could hold you spellbound telling you of his many close calls on the water. He also worked at the Seafood Packing House in Sherwood, MD, retiring in 1987 from the Philadelphia Resins Corporation in Montgomeryville, PA.

During his lifetime, he was a life member of the Blake Blackston Post #77 American Legion and a member of New St. Johns United Methodist Church of Wittman, MD.

Brother was preceded in death by two (2) sisters, Edith Green and Marietta Hynson and a son, baby William Palmer.

Brother leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife, Ethel Mary Palmer; two (2) sons, Thomas Palmer (Lorraine) of Woolford, MD, Clarence Palmer, III (Wittman, MD); three (3) daughters, Brenda Brummel (Johnny) of Trappe, MD, Victoria Esters (Alan) of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Maxine Lowery (Curtis) of Silver Spring, MD; a sister, Bessie Wells (Wittman, MD); two step-children, Donna Straub (Barry) of Quakertown, PA, B. Keith Hardaway (Nurnberg, Germany); two sisters in-law, Shirley Tolliver (Elwood) of Ambler, PA and Anna Rebecca Bowman (Easton, MD); eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many other relatives and devoted friends

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2003, 12 noon at New St. John UM Church (Wittman). Interment will follow in Charles Thomas Memorial Park (St. Michaels)

There will be a viewing two hours prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to New St. John UM Church Building Fund.

The Henry Funeral Home, PA is handling the arrangements.

Page, Doris J.

Doris J. Page, 87, of East New Market, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2002 at the Chesapeake Woods Care Center. She was the wife of the late Robert Carlton Page.

She was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on November 18, 1914, the daughter of the late George Edward and Helen Clark Hollerman. She was raised and attended public schools in Bridgeton. She worked at a basket factory and a sewing factory in Bridgeton and later at the Rosenbloom sewing factory in Secretary. More recently she has been a homemaker. Mr. Page passed away on November 23, 1970. Since April of 2001 Mrs. Page has resided at the Chesapeake Woods facility in Cambridge,

She is survived by one sister, Bessie Sanders of Federalsburg, and one brother G. Edward Hollerman of East New Market, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister Helen Harding and three brothers Robert J. Hollerman, Robert C. Hollerman, and Louis C. Hollerman.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at East New Market Cemetery by Rev. Carol A. Terry. Friends will be received at the Thomas Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until noon.

Pali, Cara Maria

Cara Maria Pali, 83, of Salisbury, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at the Wicomico Nursing Home in Salisbury. Born in Canada, she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Ringwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Pali.

Mrs. Pali was an avid golfer who loved to bowl and swim. Although she was born in Canada, she became an American citizen.

She is survived by a stepson and his wife, Christopher C. Pali and Nancy of Salisbury; 2 step-granddaughters, Sarah and Kristen Pali and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother.

No services are scheduled. Cremation followed her death.

Palmer, Mildred Johnson

Mildred Johnson Palmer a life-long resident of Federalsburg died at Genesis Eldercare in Easton, Maryland on Sunday, April 28, 2002. She was 82.

She was born on November 25, 1919 in Federalsburg the daughter of the late John "Jack" Johnson and Mary Jane Robinson Johnson.

She was a member of the graduating class of 1939 of Lockerman High School in Denton, Maryland.

She last worked as a Teachers Aide at Federalsburg Elementary School before retiring.

She had attended Lighthouse Church of God in East New Market. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Denton, Maryland and she was also a member of the Golden Circle in Salisbury.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Namon R. Palmer, whom she married on October 8, 1939, and a son, Thomas R. Palmer of Federalsburg, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Magdalene Briggs and Florence N. Simms both of Federalsburg and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Iola Littlejohn and George Washington Johnson and a brother, Monroe Johnson.

Funeral services for her will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg with Rev. Calvin Abbott, officiating. Interment be on Monday, May 6, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Friends may call at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m..
