Sylvia May Meulenberg (Hyma) age 90, of Cutlerville, entered her heavenly home on Monday, June 19, 2017, and left all anxiety and care behind to relax in the arms of her Savior and loving husband, Ronald Meulenberg, and son, James Meulenberg. Sylvia dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved the Lord and wanted her life to be a testimony of God's grace and mercy. Sylvia will be deeply missed by her children, Carol and Bill Offringa, Jack and Kathi Meulenberg, Judy Meulenberg, Mike and Sheryl Meulenberg, John and Susan Miller, Tammy and Ron Kool; her 22 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; sister, Wilda (Mel) Miedema; sisters-in-law, Eleanore Bol, Marcia Meulenberg, Judy (Jack) Feenstra; and many friends. We express our thanks to the staff at Rose Garden and Spectrum Hospice for the love and care given to Mom. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 22 at 11 AM at First Cutlerville Christian Reformed Church, 1425 68th St. SW, with Pastor Ron Kool officiating. Interment will be at Winchester Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Garden (Sunset Benevolence Fund). The family will greet visitors on Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, and Thurday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Jill Pacic (Shaver), of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017. Jill was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Patricia Shaver; and is survived by her siblings, Melinda Lee Shaver, Robert (Cynthia) Shaver Jr. and Christopher (Theresa) Shaver; and her pets, Cagney, Lacey and Jax. Jill was born in 1964 and was graduated from East Kentwood High School and Central Michigan University, which she attended on a full ride athletic scholarship for track and cross country. Jill’s smile, determination and sense of humor will most certainly be missed. A private family service will be held on Friday afternoon and the family will host an informal gathering for friends and relatives to celebrate Jill's life and share memories on Friday, June 23, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Atwater Brewery, 201 Michigan Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Haven, 551 Pickerel Lake Dr., Newaygo MI 49337 or online at www.lakehavenrescue.org.

Charles Thomas "Charlie" Redden, aged 88, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017. Charles was born in Murray, KY to Arthur and Odie Redden. He worked in various management positions throughout his life, and also sold real estate for several years. Charlie has two daughters, Janice (John) Sherman and Sandra Cook. On May 31, 1980, Charles was joined in marriage to Carol Diekema Sobotta, who survives. He proudly added one step son, Ronald Sobotta, to his family circle. Charles was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Adam Sherman, Andrew (Kristy) Sherman, Aaron (Natalie) Sherman, John Austin Sherman, Lori (Tim) Lee, Jeff Cook, and Travis Cook (deceased). He was blessed with 14 beautiful great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Ralph (Elaine) Redden; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Redden; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his grandson, Travis, Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Sam and Frank Redden. The family will greet visitors on Friday, June 23, from 10 - 11 a.m. at Good News Baptist Church, 6830 Eastern Ave. SE, where a memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Terry Frazine. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.

Edward J. Poll, age 70, of Caledonia, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Ed honorably served his country in the National Guard. His father, Benjamin Poll, Sr., preceded him in death. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Lois; his children, Sherri (Ron) Woznick, Bill (Heidi) Poll, Tim (Sue) Poll, Deb Thomas; grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Hannah, Abby Woznick; Bri (Josh) Kingsbury, Holden Poll; Alex, Zach, Sylvia, Izzy Poll; Kenzie and Austin Thomas; great grandchildren, Kace and Jamieson Kingsbury; mother, Eleanor (Harold) Jansen; brothers and sisters, Benjamin, Jr. (Linda) Poll, Ruth (Don) Uitvlugt, Virginia (Jim) Schreur, Barbara Poll, Daniel (Maribeth) Poll; brother-in-law, Roger Velthouse; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Wednesday, February 15, at Dutton United Reformed Church, 6950 Hanna Lake Ave. SE, with Rev. Brian Najapfour and Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Interment in Hooker Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Ed may be made to the Pregnancy Resource Center or Highway Connections.

Cora Ondersma, age 87, of Kentwood, passed gently into the arms of her loving Savior on Friday, February 24, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roger Ondersma. Theirs was a true love story that began with a blind date. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always remembering the small treats the great grandchildren loved. She was a talented cook and enjoyed entertaining her family with her wonderful meals. Friends and neighbors who visited would be blessed with a loaf of her delicious bread. She attended Faith Community Christian Reformed Church and had many friends there. Cora's life touched and enriched ours and we will miss her dearly until we are together again. Surviving are her children, Roger (Rene) Ondersma, Cheryl (Leo) Meyer, and Ron Ondersma; 12 wonderful grandchildren, and 14 beautiful great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janet (Tom) Jongert; also dear nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 3, from 5 - 7:30 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. As per her request, a private family service will be held on Saturday, March 4. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gideons International or to Faith Community CRC Education Fund.

Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Julia Glass, and a sister-in-law, Wilma Hoezee. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Harvey; children, Brian (Kimber-Lee) Haverdink, Jodi (Dan) Ainsworth, Brent (Missy) Haverdink; grandchildren, Austin, Abigail, and Andrew Haverdink; Cory, Stephanie, and Nathan Ainsworth; Sam and Claire Haverdink; brothers and sister, Howard (Norma) Glass, John (Barb) Glass, Kelly (Judy) Glass, Bev (Bob) Bolhuis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Garold (Carolyn) Haverdink, Hazel (Roger) Hielkema, Gladys (Kenneth) Hielkema, Jarvis (Alyce) Haverdink, Joan (Bruce) Quist, Roger (Sheryl) Haverdink, Rosemary (Donald) Poortvliet, Arnold Hoezee; many nieces and nephews. James Paul Berridge, age 69, of Wyoming, formerly of North Carolina, entered into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Paul worked for 42 years in the Tool & Die Industry. He loved spending time with his family, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Patricia; his children, Shelvy (Carlos) Moreno, Kim (Ben) Fortuna, Patti (Bob) Verolme; grandchildren, Tabitha, Tasha, Brittany, Tricia, Lindsay, Gabrielle, Brooke, Sheldon; five great grandchildren; brother, Elbert Berridge, sister, Ruth Lester; and many nieces and nephews. The family will greet visitors on Friday, April 28, from 12 - 1 pm at Stroo Funeral Home, where the funeral will begin at 1 pm. Pastor Alto Goodspeed will officiate. Jeanne Marie (Northrup) Thompson, age 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born April 9, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI to James and Pauline (Shull) Northrup. She graduated from Hart High School in 1943 and attended the University of Michigan. She married A. Robert Thompson on December 1, 1945. From 1961-1966, Bob and Jeanne owned an Insurance Agency in Hart, MI. She also worked for the Central Michigan University in the admissions department, and was a legal secretary for a law firm in Scottville and a bookkeeper for the Ludington Public Schools. She was a member of Wesley Park United Methodist Church. In her youth, Jeanne enjoyed skiing, boating, traveling, and baking. Her husband, Bob, and son-in-law, Michael Nicholas, preceded her in death. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terry (Janice) Thompson, Kendra Nicholas; grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Nicholas, Todd (Jennifer) Nicholas, Michael (Jennifer) Thompson, Tara (Mark) Haener; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, LaVone Cook, Louise Glaysher; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 am prior to the service on Saturday, March 11, at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 32nd St. SW, where the funeral will begin at 11 am. Pastor Dean Prentiss will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or Wesley Park UMC.
