Eileen Fevig
Eileen B. Fevig, 66, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, in her home.
Eileen Beverly Buchta was born June 25, 1937, in Maddock, ND. She attended grade school in Harlow, ND, and high school in Leeds, ND, and Maddock. In March of 1955, Eileen married Reinhold Sauter in Filmore, ND. They made their home in Moorhead where Eileen worked as a x-ray technician at St. Ansgar and St. John’s Hospital. She later worked at Eventide Lutheran Home. On July 1, 1983, she married Verne Fevig in Webster, SD. Verne died on December 29, 1983.
Eileen is survived by one son, Robert Sauter, Moorhead; two granddaughters, and two brothers, Donnie Buchta and Duane (Fern) Buchta, both of Leeds.

Emily Lewis
Emily Doris Lewis, age 90, of Fargo, ND, died on July 12, 2003, in Bethany Homes, Fargo. She had been a resident of Bethany since February of this year.
Emily Doris Mildred Lorack was born March 15, 1913, in Riverside, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Riverside and attended business school in Iowa City, IA. On December 16, 1937, Emily Doris married Robert J. Lewis in Iowa City, where they made their home. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1951. Robert died October 14, 1989. After his death, Emily lived at Eventide Catered Living, Moorhead, and at Riverview Place, Fargo. She had previously been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead.
Emily Doris is survived by her son, Craig (Donna) Lewis, of Fargo; a brother, Arthur (Ruth) Lorack, of Hills, IA, and a grandson, Brett Robert Lewis

Helen Hurlbut
Helen O. Hurlbut, 83, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, July 13, 2003, in SCCI Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Helen Olga Olson, daughter of Levi and Katherine (Monson) Olson, was born August 18, 1919, in Sharon, ND, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Helen earned her teaching certificate from Mayville State Teachers College, Mayville, ND. Helen taught for two years in the Steele County area. Helen served her country in WW II, by joining the Navy in 1943, serving as a pharmacist’s mate, at Moffett Field, CA. Upon her discharge in 1945, she returned to the Finley, ND, area where she worked as a secretary for the Steele Co. Supervisors Office. Helen was united in marriage to Clarence W. Hurlbut on October 7, 1950, in Britton, SD. The couple lived in numerous cities in North Dakota and Minnesota, including ten years in Minneapolis, MN. In 1968, the family made their home in Moorhead. Clarence died in 1995, and Helen continued to live in Moorhead.
Helen is survived by two sons and two daughters, Ronald, Minnetonka, MN, Linda (Steven) Dias, Burnsville, MN, Marcia (Michael) Fjelstad, Fargo, and Donald (Suzanne), West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Esther Rollheiser, Deerfield, IL.

Annette Underwood
Annette Underwood, Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, in Elim Care Center, Fargo, under hospice care.
Annette was born to Henry and Ellen Sukut, in Fargo where she was raised and graduated from Central High School. She also graduated from Interstate Business College, Fargo. Annette was married to Marshall Underwood. Over the years, Annette worked for various businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Most recently, Annette worked for Plains Art Museum charitable gaming.
Annette is survived by her daughter, Lisa, Fargo; four grandchildren, Jesse, Brady, Taylor and Dylan; three sisters, Hazel (Ted) Kearns, and Shirley Sundahl, both Fargo, and Esther Sundahl, Washington state; two brothers, Edward (Pat) Sundahl, and Raymond (Elaine) Sundahl, both Washington state; a special niece and two nephews, Karene, Kyle and Kraig Kearns.

Rebecca Reardon
Rebecca JoAnn Reardon was born October 19, 1959, in Moorhead, MN, to Robert and Jeanette (Weiman) Reardon. Rebecca graduated from Moorhead High School in 1978, and went on to attend Northwest Technical College and Moorhead State University. In 1985, Rebecca moved to the Washington, DC, area where she received a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland at Baltimore. She worked for Computer Sciences Corporation as a project manager. Rebecca returned to Moorhead in 1999, and continued to work from her home for C.S.C. Rebecca died at her home, under hospice care, Saturday, July 19, 2003, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Rebecca was the type of person not afraid to jump in and get involved. Her enthusiastic “get it done” attitude was helpful with her involvement in Special Olympics, Boy Scouts of America, and Rotary International, to name just a few of Rebecca’s interests. She had a friendly smile and shared it with everyone and everywhere she went. In Rebecca’s memory, memorials may be made to Special Olympics, Roger Maris Cancer Center, or Caring Bridge (www.caringbridge.com).
Rebecca is lovingly survived by her parents, Robert Reardon of Moorhead, and Jeanette Dopp of Truth or Consequences, NM; two brothers, Ken and his wife, Evita of Albuquerque, NM, and Greg of Moorhead.
A celebration to honor the life and legacy of Rebecca will be Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 10 AM, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead. An evening visitation will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2003, from 6 - 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN, at 2 PM on Wednesday.
Beverly Chrissis
Beverly Jean (Cowden) Chrissis, was born May 22, 1927, in Fargo, ND. She grew up under the loving care of Jason and Amanda Cowden and received her education in Dilworth, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1945.
Beverly was united in marriage to Nick Chrissis, on November 22, 1948, in Detroit, MI. They lived in Detroit for several years before making their home in Dilworth. Beverly’s husband, Nick, died in 1983.
Beverly worked for over 25 years in food service at NDSU, Fargo, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed eating out and spending time with her family and friends. She was a longtime and active member of Dilworth Presbyterian Church.
Beverly Jean Chrissis died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, at the age of 76.
Beverly is survived by several nieces and nephews, many loved ones and dear friends. Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Corkery, her grandparents, and her husband Nick.

John Murphy
John Edwin Murphy, age 29, of Tualatin, Oregon, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in Beaverton, Oregon.
John was born December 17, 1973, in Fargo, ND. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, MN. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1992. Following high school, he served in the US Navy from 1992 to 1995. After his discharge from the Navy, John moved to Newport, Washington, where he was self-employed as a computer consultant. He was one of the co-founders of the Pend Oreille Valley Network (POVN), an Internet provider service. In 1996, he returned to Fargo, where he attended North Dakota State University. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001, John moved to the Portland, Oregon, area, where he went to work for Akila. In 2003, he became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and was making plans to go back to school to become a registered nurse. At the time of his death, he was employed by EDC Solutions and Gleneden Terrace.
John is survived by his mother, Kimberly Imberi, Moorhead; his father, Eddie Murphy, West Fargo, ND; two brothers, Michael Murphy, Fargo, and Kyle Murphy, Plattsmouth, NE; a sister, Delaney Imberi, Moorhead; grandparents, Beverly (Waldo) Thompson, Thief River Falls, MN, and Ralph and Vera Murphy, Fargo. John was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Rude.

Sylvia Philaya
Sylvia J. Philaya, 72, of Moorhead, MN, died on Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Innovis Health, Fargo, ND.
Sylvia Johanna Palomaki, the daughter of John and Gunilla (Hanni) Palomaki, was born on April 19, 1931, at Ironwood, MI, where she grew up and received her education. On March 29, 1952, Sylvia was united in marriage to LeRoy Philaya, at Ironwood. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Springfield, IL, where LeRoy attended seminary. The couple served in Fitchburg, MA, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Sebeka, MN, Virginia, MN, and in Sabin, MN, where they lived from 1976 until 1989. In 1989, LeRoy and Sylvia moved to Walker, MN. Her husband, LeRoy died on August 27, 1999. After his death, Sylvia moved to Moorhead, MN, where she has lived since.
Sylvia is survived by three daughters, Jane (David) Kellerman, West Bend, WI, Ruth (Steven) Breiland, Fargo, ND, and Lynn (Robert) Johnk, Moorhead; two sons, Luther (Tara) Philaya, Princeton, MN, and Matthew (Jennifer) Philaya, Battle Lake, MN; two brothers, William “Jack” Palomaki, Lake in the Hills, IL, and Rev. Thomas (Marilyn) Palomaki, Walker, MN; and eight grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Matt Kangas, John Palomaki, and Veikko Palomaki.
