Henry J. Fahrlander

Henry Joe Fahrlander was born June 15, 1918, to Francis and Mary (Zimmerman) Fahrlander in Borup, MN. He received his education in the Borup-Felton school system. After school, Henry worked as a farmhand for area farmers.

On October 16, 1939, Henry married Anna Menholt in Sisseton, SD, and they made their home in Ada, MN, and then Bagley, MN. They eventually moved to Billings, MT, where Henry worked as a mechanic for Northwest Airlines. In 1945, they moved to Moorhead and Henry worked as a mechanic for various businesses including Strom Construction, Moen Brothers, Krider Equipment, and Sornsin Construction. Henry retired in 1980, and they moved to Georgetown, MN, where they built a home. In 1991, they moved back to Moorhead.

Anna died on April 6, 1993, and Henry continued to make his home in Moorhead. In September of 2003, Henry became a resident of Heritage Villa, Moorhead. Henry died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Moorhead Healthcare Center, at the age of eighty-six.

Henry loved to use his computer, travel and he would fondly recall the fishing trip he took with friends to Alaska. His whole life was being a mechanic and he enjoyed looking at heavy-duty equipment and airplanes.

Henry is survived by four daughters, Marlis (Bill) Ziegler, Georgetown, Mavis Jones, Fargo, ND, Jane (Gene) Determan and Lois (Conrad) Krabbenhoft, both of Moorhead; a sister, Lucille Leno, West Fargo, ND; ten grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, Carl (Lori) Ziegler, Moorhead, and their children, Erica and Brad, Andrea (Ture) Peterson, Williston, ND, and their children, Anna and Alison, Jennifer Morton, Moorhead, and her children, Kristi, Kylie, and Kari, Paul (Carole) Ziegler, Ft Leonardwood, MO, and their children, Victoria and Lukas, Wayne (Nekco) Oien, Fayetteville, NC, and their children, Nicholas, Amelia, and Audrey, Perry (Mardy) Eidem, Moorhead, and their children, Corey and Kelli, Jerry Eidem, Moorhead, and his children, Jeremy, Breanna, and Jamie, Elizabeth (Todd) Mitzel, Grand Forks, ND, and their children, Holly and Leann, Tom (Norma) Krabbenhoft, Moorhead, and their children, Tayler and Tia, and Troy Krabbenhoft, Moorhead; three sisters-in-law, Marlace Fahrlander, Fargo, Ethel Menholt, Felton, and Gayl Dahl, Gonvick, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Clarence “Pete”, and Frank; and five sisters, Lorraine Rehder, Frances Coalwell, Helen Hannestad, Evelyn Lofgren, and Mary Ann Fahrlander.

A visitation for Henry took place on Thursday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead

The funeral service is today, June 3, 2005, at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.

Yvonne Stanoscheck

Yvonne Stanosheck, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2005, at the age of 90, at The Evergreens Assisted Living Facility in Moorhead. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert L. “RL” Stanosheck, and her loving sister, Lorraine Shupe, Mesa, AZ.

Yvonne was born January 16, 1915, in Broadland, SD to the late Frank and Clara Kurtz.. Yvonne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and later had a successful career in real estate before retiring to Mesa, AZ, for the past 25 years, where she met and cherished many friends. She was a long time member of Central Christian Church, Mesa, where she was grounded in her Christian faith and participated in many church activities. An active member of her community in Mesa, she was a prime organizer of trips to many places in Arizona for the residents. She loved shopping, reading the Bible, going on trips, and being with friends at small gatherings.

Yvonne is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Sultany (Dennis) of Bloomington, MN, and Cheryl Stanosheck Youngs (George) of Moorhead; grandchildren, Shawn Kranz and Shireen Walsh (Greg); and great-grandchildren, Jesse Kranz, Garrett Walsh and Grant Walsh.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Funeral service: Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at 2 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

A private interment will be in Huron, SD, where she will be with her Lord and Savior, and devoted husband, forever.

Loretta M. Stevenson

Loretta M. Stevenson, 68, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, in her home, Moorhead.

Loretta Mae Bailey was born July 8th, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Jefferson township school and graduated in 1954. After graduation, she attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was a decision that would change her life. It was here that she meet LeRoy Stevenson.

After LeRoy’s graduation the two were married on June 9, 1956, in Johnsville, Ohio. In 1957 they moved to Georgetown to help on the family farm after the death of LeRoy’s mother. In 1970, they bought a 13-acre farm site in rural Hawley. In 1973, they moved and bought a home in Moorhead, Minnesota, where they were currently residing.

In 1976, Loretta accepted a job with General Nutrition Corporation where she worked for fourteen years. In 1983, she was named “Secretary of the Year” for the Fargo area and she was also honored as “Woman of the Year, for distinguished leadership” by the YWCA. Loretta also worked in the Fargo Public School system for many years, which truly showed her love for children and for giving to the community. After retirement Loretta worked as a secretary at the River Valley Church in Moorhead, where she and LeRoy were very active. They also were involved in the “Senior Choir”. In Loretta's spare time she had many hobbies, such as writing a book of poetry, sewing, collecting dolls, decorating wedding cakes, and cooking. You always knew if you went to visit and left hungry it was your own fault.

Loretta is survived by her husband, LeRoy Stevenson; four children, Vernon, Robert (Suzy), Jonathan (Jacki) and Janice (Bryan) Johnson; eleven grandchildren, Joshua (Natalie), Amanda, Krysta, and Jonathan Stevenson. Cortney, Ashley, Cami, Jonathan Jr., and Caileigh Stevenson. Jackie and Dallas Johnson; three siblings, Ray Bailey, Richard Bailey, and Freda McDonald. She was preceded in death, by her parents, Florence Irene Bailey and Emerson Harley Bailey; one brother, Harley Bailey; and one son, Gary Stevenson.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead

Funeral Service: Saturday, May 28, 2005, at 2 PM, River Valley Church, Moorhead

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo

Linda J. Stevenson

Linda J. Stevenson, 48, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN.

Linda Jean Janke was born October 5, 1956, to Edwin and Violet (Diede) Janke in Ashley, ND, and she lived in various cities including Ellendale, ND, Steele, ND and Medina, ND. As a young woman, Linda moved to Germany where she graduated from the Frankfurt American High School in 1974.

In 1978, Linda joined the Marines and she was stationed in California until her discharge in 1981. She then began working for Sharp Cabrillo Hospital, San Diego, CA, as a computer operator. In 1982, she began working as a computer programmer/analyst for Electronic Data Systems at Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven, CT. In 1989, Linda moved to Fargo, ND, and worked as a computer programmer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

Linda married Joel A. Stevenson on February 14, 1994, in Fargo and they made their home for a short period of time in Horace, ND, eventually settling in Lowry, MN. In August of 2004, Linda and Joel moved to Detroit Lakes.

Linda was a loving mother to her three daughters whom she was home schooling. She enjoyed crafts, painting, and was full of energy and spirit. She will be deeply missed by many.

Linda is survived by her husband, Joel; three daughters, Dawn, April, and Micki, all at home in Detroit Lakes; and a brother, Marvin (Betty) Janke, Napoleon, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mavis.

Visitation: Friday from 6 PM - 8 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN

Funeral Service: Saturday, May 21, 2005, at 2 PM, Detroit Lakes Assembly of God Church, Detroit Lakes

Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes

Evelyn Stusiak

Evelyn Stusiak was born June 25, 1919, in Seattle, WA, to Carl and Thora (Jellum) Elvestad.

Evelyn, affectionately known as Evie, was married to J.C. White and they had two children, Patrick and Michael White.

Evie was married to Stanley Stusiak in 1962, and they made their home in Victorville, CA. They moved to Moorhead, MN, the following year. Evie worked as a hostess at McDonalds on Eighth Street in Moorhead for many years where she greeted her customers with a friendly smile, pleasant conversation, and an after-dinner mint.

Stanley preceded her in death on November 10, 1996, and Evie continued to make her home in Moorhead. Evie died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in Moorhead Healthcare Center, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, at eighty-five years of age.

In addition to her husbands, her two sons, one brother and one sister preceded Evie in death.

Evie’s funeral will be Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.

Wesley Swenson

Wesley Swenson, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Moorhead Healthcare Center under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Leon Wesley “Wes”, the son of Charles and Ella Tillotson.was born in Olmsted County, MN on February 16, 1925. He was adopted by Jalmer and Margaret Swenson in 1936. He grew up and received his education in the Villard, MN, area, where he graduated from high school. Wes served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He also served five years in the reserves.

On March 16, 1953, Wesley was united in marriage to Dorothy Rhodes. They made their home in the Villard area. In 1970, as part of Daystar Ministries, the couple moved to Federal Dam, MN, Mercedes, Texas, and in 1974, to Fargo, ND. In 1977, they moved to Moorhead, MN, where they had lived since. Wes worked as a stationary engineer for Concordia College and later for Minnesota State University, Moorhead, both in Moorhead. He retired in 1990.

In February of 2004, Wes became a resident of Moorhead Healthcare Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Jean Pioske; and a brother, William Herrly.

Wes is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Moorhead; a son, David (Maria) Swenson, Valley City, ND; four daughters, Deborah (Joe) Valle, Harlingen, Texas, Cheryl Swenson, Moorhead, Sandra (Joe) Morrone, Moorhead, and Leslie ( Darrel) Nehk, Hoffman, MN; a brother, Jim Tillotson, Ray, MN; three sisters, Dorothy Ohm, Rochester, MN, Helen Velde-Corcoran, Monticello, MN, and Ruth Wees, Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friday, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and one hour before the funeral, at the church.

Prayer service: Friday at 7:00 PM Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Funeral service: Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at 10:30 AM, Believer’s Fellowship Family Church Moorhead, Minnesota.

Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN

Jon G. Taylor

Jon Greg Taylor, the son of Jack and Dawn Taylor, was born April 20, 1940 in Nashua, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Iowa. He moved with his family to Rochester, MN, where he graduated from high school in 1958. He later attended electrical college and lived in Hibbing, MN, then Walker, MN, where he was owner of Taylor Electric.

On March 31, 1987, Jon married his soul mate, Irene Spencer-Erickson. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, MN, where Jon worked as an insurance agent for Harvest Life and Casualty Insurance Company. The couple treasured nature, the lakes, and the outdoors together.

In 1998, Jon and Irene moved to Fargo, ND, where Jon worked for Goldmark and Van Raden Properties. In 2003, they returned to live on Strawberry Lake, north of Detroit Lakes, and Jon continued to work for Van Raden Properties. Jon found great peace and solitude in the beauty of the Minnesota lakes country.

Jon died on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Innovis Health in Fargo, ND, following unexpected complications after recent successful heart surgery, at the age of 65. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Knutson and the angelic staff of Innovis for their wonderful care.

Jon is survived by his wife, Irene, of Ogema, MN; a son, Greg Jon Taylor; two daughters, Lea Taylor-Schauberger and Korinna Taylor; three stepdaughters, Kayla Rae Moen, Fargo, Kim Harbold, Weatherford, Texas, and Kristi Jo Erickson, West Fargo, ND; his mother, Dawn Taylor, Charles City, Iowa; and fifteen grandchildren.

Memorial service: Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 at 10:30 AM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN
