Clarence Ouverson

Clarence LeRoy Ouverson was born Aug. 25, 1925 in Fortier Township in Yellow Medicine Co. by Canby, Minn. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Canby on Oct. 17, 1925. He passed away on March 16, 2005 at the Delano Health Care Center. On June 11, 1949, he married Edith Paulson in Canby, Minn. Clarence was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Marie (Jesme) Ouverson and son, David L. Ouverson in 1971; brothers and sisters: Lee and Zona Ouverson, Ray Ouverson, Corrine Hormann-Charles, Orlan Hormann, Erwin Molnau, Harold VanKeulen, Roy and Mildred Johnson, Cletus Hoffman, Howard and Genevieve Ouverson.
Clarence is survived by loving wife of 55 years, Edith of Montrose; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice (Joe) Kittok of Delano, Joanne (Kevin) Baumgartner of Aitkin; grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Joe (Shannon) Kittok Jr., John and Jacob Kittok, David, Matthew, Eric, Todd and Alex Baumgartner; great-grandchildren, Joey and Eve Marie Kittok; brothers and sisters, Frances Hoffman of Canby, Lola Ouverson of Canby, Margaret Molnau of Red Wing, Margery and Leon Van de Veire of Canby, Bernice and Richard Swedzinski of Champlin, Lorraine VanKeulen of New Ulm, Mavis and Tom Garrett of Little Canada, Nina and Ken Benz of Canby, Elden and Adrienne Ouverson of Pine City.
He was a member of the Delano Sportsman's Club and Watertown Senior Citizens. He loved to go to the Delano Senior Center. His great loves in life were hunting, fishing, traveling and being with his family, especially his eight grandsons and great-grandchildren. His other great love was watching the Delano Tigers' basketball games and cheering them on.
A gathering of friends and visitation was held Saturday, March 19 from 4 until 8 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Funeral service was Sunday, March 20, 2 p.m. at Light of Christ Lutheran Church in Delano. Interment at Delano Public Cemetery.

Anita Zastrow

Funeral services were held Friday, March 18, 2005 for Anita A. Zastrow, 85, of Camden Township, Mayer, Minnesota. She died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at her home in Camden Township, Mayer, Minnesota.
She was born Dec. 8, 1919 at Minnetrista Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. (nee mother's maiden name Louise Hasse) Schwalbe. She was baptized Jan. 11, 1920 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia by Rev. William F. Schneider and confirmed July 1, 1934 at Trinity (Gotaholm) Lutheran Church in Watertown by Rev. M. LaVander.
On Nov. 18, 1941 she married Wilbert H. Zastrow at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer by Rev. Elmer Schwandt.
Anita was a loving wife, devoted mom, grandma and great grandma on the family farm outside of Mayer. They farmed until the mid 90's. God blessed them with 8 children, two lost in infancy. After her faith and family, her joy was gardening, cooking, embroidering, sewing, doing cross word puzzles and loved watching her bluebirds. She shared her faith to her family by example, Anita entered hospice care on March 10. Throughout her final days, she was surrounded by her family. The Lord granted her peace early Tuesday morning March 15. Blessed be her memory.
Anita was preceded in death by Baby Girl Zastrow, son Wayne Zastrow, grandson Edward Zastrow, great grandson Isiah Devine, parents Paul and Louise Schwalbe, sister in law and brothers in law Lorraine Schwalbe, Roy Ketcher and Vernon Jopp.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Wilbert; children and spouses: Karen and Arvin Anderson of Minneapolis, Leonard Zastrow of Rochester, Renee and Tom Clabo of Hutchinson, Paulette and Allen Lund of St. Michael, Janet and Brad Swenson of Flandreau, South Dakota, Jolene and Bill Devine of Laporte; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sisters and brother in law: Loretta Jopp of Watertown, Irene and Alden Jopp of Mayer, Verna Ketcher of Rockford, Illinois; brothers and sister in law Hilton and Lyla Schwalbe of Buffalo, Harold Schwalbe of Waconia; brother in law and sister in law Linus and Lillian Zastrow of Amboy; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, Minn., the Rev. Peter Meier officiated. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Mayer, Minn. Casketbearers: Roy Anderson, Leonard Zastrow, Timothy Clabo, Christopher Lund, Paul Swenson, David Devine. Honorary casketbearers: Edward Zastrow. Carl Kotilinek

Mr. Carl L. Kotilinek, age 85, of Maple Lake died Friday, March 18, 2005 at home.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends called from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There was a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday.
Carl Lawrence Kotilinek was born December 23, 1919 in Maple Lake to George and Lillian (Pavlik) Kotilinek. He served his country in the US Army during WWII with the 612 Tank Destroyer Battalion. Carl fought in Normandy, Ardennes, and Battle of the Bulge, and received many unit citations. He later met up with the Russians in Czechoslovakia. He married Clara M. Barthel May 7, 1955 in Minneapolis and she preceded him in death May 24, 1989. After the war Carl farmed the Kotilinek homestead in Maple Lake Township until retiring in 1982. Carl lived in Maple Lake all his life where he was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake VFW Post #7664, and the Maple Lake American Legion Post #131. He loved his family, church, farming, the outdoors, and cutting wood.
Carl is survived by a son, daughters, and their spouses, Tom (Wendy) of Maple Lake, Rita Kotilinek and fiance, Jerry Austin of Greenbush, Amy (Mark) Loch of Maple Lake, Mary (Joe) Ackerman of Silver Creek, and Lisa (Dennis) Georges of Buffalo; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leo, Mark, and Ralph; and a granddaughter, Caroline Loch.
Pallbearers were Chase and Derek Kotilinek, Jacob Ackerman, Christopher Adair, Shane Fertig, and Paul Adam. Music for the funeral provided by Sarah Goelz and Krista Elsenpeter.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Evelyn Hansen

Evelyn W. Hanson, 93, died March 16, 2005 at the White Bear Lake Care Center.
Preceded in death by husband Gustav, son LeRoy, sister Laferna DeBore and brother Ronald Henwood.
Survived by sons: Larry (Carol), Lynn (JoAnn) and Glenn (Debbie); 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Eileen Henwood of Arcadia, FL and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the White Bear Care Center Chapel. Interment at Mission Cemetery, Buffalo, Minn.

Kenneth Guggemos

Kenneth F. Guggemos, age 83, of Buffalo died Saturday, March 19, 2005 at his residence.
He was born on August 3, 1921 in Winsted, the son of Charles and Ruth Roufs Guggemos.
Ken graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Winsted in 1939 and was educated at the University of Minnesota.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army.
On August 16, 1969, Kenneth F. Guggemos and Doris Paumen Vieau were joined in holy marriage at Christ The King Retreat Center in Buffalo by Father Cecil Roufs (Ken's uncle). With his marriage to Doris, Ken welcomed three stepsons ages 17, 15, and 11. Their marriage was later blessed with the birth of a daughter in 1972.
Ken was formerly employed at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in California. He later worked many years as an engineer and designer at Sterner Lighting Company in Winsted. Ken held numerous patents on lighting designs.
Ken was a faithful member of the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo. He belonged to the Buffalo Lions Club where he was the gaming manager for fourteen years and was a Melvin Jones recipient. Ken also was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court #1054 and American Legion Post #270.
Survived by his loving wife: Doris Guggemos; children: Doug (Jamie) Vieau of Buffalo, Dave (Stephanie) Vieau of Chanhassen, Joe (Jan) Vieau of Maple Grove and Amy (Mark) Strommen of Buffalo; eight grandchildren: Andrew Vieau, Katie and Taylor Vieau, Jake, Jenna and Jill Vieau and Sophia and Emily Strommen; brothers: Art (Donna) Guggemos, Harold (Tess) Guggemos and Don (Helen) Guggemos all of Winsted; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Ruth and by an infant son.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Guggemos was held on Wednesday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Francis in Buffalo. Father Tom Rayar was the celebrant and interment with military rites followed at St. Timothy Cemetery in Maple Lake.
Friends called on Tuesday, March 22 from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. A prayer service was held at 7:45 p.m.
Casketbearers were Andrew Vieau and Jacob Vieau (grandsons), Gary, Gregg, Joel and William Guggemos (nephews).
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

John N. Schumacher

John N. Schumacher, 24, of Zimmerman died last Monday, May 30, 2005 at his home. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, June 3 at the Peterson Chapel in St. Michael, with a prayer service and time of sharing at 7 p.m. Private interment will be at a later date. A full notice is forthcoming.

Elaine Hendrickson

Elaine M. Hendrickson, 59 of Delano died on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was born May 28, 1945 to Albert and Leona (Guenningsmann) Helmbrecht in Winsted.
Elaine was preceded in death by her mother Leona (Guennigsmann) Helmbrecht.
She is survived by her husband Bruce; son Curtis and fiancee Michelle; daughter Sandy; father Albert Helmbrecht; brothers Jerry Helmbrecht David and Kaye Helmbrecht, Ron and Theresa Helmbrecht; 10 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, May 26 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Delano. Reverend Michael Miller officiated at the Mass with interment in the Calvary Cemetery.

John LaZarre

John K. "Jack" LaZarre, 74 of Nevis, Minn., formerly of Howard Lake, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at St. Joseph's Area Hospital in Park Rapids.
Jack was born on August 23, 1930 in Jamestown, ND to Jack Olson and Elva LaZarre. He attended school in Minneapolis graduating with the class of 1948. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He met Vivian Campbell, and two weeks later asked her to marry him. They were married on February 14, 1956. Jack and Vivian were blessed with four children Denise, Dawn, Darren and Derek. They made their home in Wayzata.
Jack worked at Honeywell in Hopkins as an electrical engineer. Jack and Vivian enjoyed boating on Lake Minnetonka, camping, snowmobiling and spending time with family at their lake home in Nevis.
Jack moved his family to a farm in Howard Lake in 1973 where he enjoyed country life, horse racing and just being involved with his children's activities. Jack and Vivian were happily married for 35 years until a tragic car accident took her life in 1991.
In 1998 Jack sold the farm and moved to his lake home in Nevis. On May 1, 1999 Jack married Laura Covietz and they continued to make their home on Lake Belle Taine near Nevis.
Some of Jack's hobbies included golf, woodworking, boating and spending time with his family up north. He was a member of Our Lady Of The Pines Catholic Church in Nevis. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy in life.
Jack is survived by his wife Laura of Nevis; four children Denise Jaszcak of Hutchinson, Dawn (Dave) Meyer of Buffalo, Darren (Cindy) LaZarre of Winsted and Derek (Kathi) LaZarre of Cokato; four stepchildren Donna (Kent) Knacke of Rockford, Charlene Covietz of Buffalo, Steve (Tammy) Covietz of Cologne and Wally (Dana) Covietz of Waconia; 15 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded in death by his sister Janice; his parents and his first wife Vivian.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 at Our Lady Of The Pines Catholic Church in Nevis with Father Duane Pribula and Father Joe Miller officiating. Visitation was held from noon until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
Honorary casketbearers were Jack's grandchildren. Bonnie Vokes was the organist and Carol Dierkhising the song leader. Following the service a luncheon was held at the church for all to attend.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Winsted with Father Paul Wolf officiating. For more information please contact the Jones - Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids at 218-732-5131.

Dennis Lehto

Memorial services celebrating the life of Dennis I. Lehto, 73 of St. Cloud and formerly of Clearwater, were held on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Daniel Funeral Home Chapel in Clearwater. Dennis died Tuesday, May 24, at his home. Reverend William Larson officiated. Private interment.
Friends called after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater.
Dennis was born on January 9, 1932 in Eveleth, Minn. to Uno and Sarah (Kangas) Lehto. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science with Distinction and later completed a Master of Arts degree in Ag Education in 1969. Dennis married Donna B. Knudson on December 29, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Eveleth. He taught high school and adult Ag Education in Evansville for 22 years, until 1975. The family moved to Clearwater and Dennis taught Adult Farm Management at St. Cloud Area Vocational Technical Institute until retiring in 1997. After his retirement, Dennis was a consultant for Land O' Lakes, traveling to Russia, Africa and Turkmenistan, helping to develop agricultural practices. He was recognized as the Minnesota Outstanding Ag Teacher of the Year in 1977, was a nominee to the Minnesota FFA Hall of Fame, and received numerous other local, state and national agriculture awards. Dennis was also an officer of the Minnesota Vocational Ag Instructors Association and Minnesota Vocational Association.
Survivors include his wife Donna of St. Cloud; children Gail Knudtson of Mason, Michigan; Dana and his wife Molinda of Shakopee; Melissa Halvorson and husband Ralph of Lakeville; seven grandchildren Candi, Joren, Kris, Sarah, Chad, Alexis and Logan; two great grandchildren Richard and Savana; sister Bonnie Niemi and husband Del of Webster, Wisconsin; brother Lauri and his wife Susan of Grand Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Emma Mero

Emma Ida Marie Mero, 87 of rural Buffalo died Monday, May 30, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services for Emma Mero are pending at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.

Marcia Page

Marcia M. Page was born November 19, 1913 in McIntosh, Minn. to Richard and Irene (Hoel) Vig. She spent her youth in McIntosh. Following graduation from the University of Minnesota, Marcia moved to Cokato where she taught Home Economics. While working in Cokato she met and married Conrad Page.
Marcia was a longtime member of Eastern Star and was active in many clubs. She greatly enjoyed her later years wintering in Arizona. She loved people and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Marcia passed away October 13, 2004 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo. She had reached the age of 90 years, 10 months and 24 days.
Marcia is survived by her sons Gary (Marion) and Glenn; daughters Gail and Geri; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and husband Conrad.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cokato. Services will be conducted by Pastor Highland Goodman and music will be provided by Karen Anderson.
Interment will be at the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
