Lydia Dixon

The friendly, pretty, smiling lady has passed away and is now busy visiting with those in heaven who have passed before her. We, her family, have been told this hundreds of times.
Lydia Johanna Dixon, 91, passed away peacefully June 9, 2006 at Lake Ridge Care Center. She was born in Hanover on October 18, 1914 to William H. "Shorty" Bechtold and Ida (Faue) Bechtold.
She was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hanover. She was united in marriage to Clifford Dixon, September 19, 1936, and became a farmer's wife and soul mate as they always worked side by side or went shopping or out for coffee together.
They had one child, Dorothy Jean Dixon, who married Carl Bowman. Lydia and Clifford finally had a "son." Carl was truly accepted into the family as a real son and later when the grandchildren arrived, they were thrilled. Valerie and Grant grew up loving their grandparents and the farm.
Lydia enjoyed working, playing the piano at home or for church, and having the grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her life.
As a child, Lydia lived one block from her church where she spent much of her time helping her mother who was the church janitor. She also played the piano and organ. Lydia was very active in the youth group. Her love for her Lord was passed on to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lydia moved to Buffalo after her husband passed away in 1994. Now she really was involved in the lives of her grandchildren.
Lydia is survived by her daughter Dorothy Jean (Carl) Bowman; grandchildren Pastor Valerie (Mark) Pederson, Grant (Diane) Bowman; great-grandchildren Charissa, Anastasia and Luke Pederson, Jordan and Michaela Bowman, all of Buffalo.
Also survived by sister-in-law Eloise (Clifford) Lieder, Hertha Dixon sister-in-law, John (Ruth) Dixon brother-in-law, Aaron (Lois) Dixon brother-in-law and other relatives and family.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Clifford; sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Ed Sass, Donald, Kenneth and Anita Dixon.
A visitation was held June 12 and the funeral at 2 p.m. on June 13 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment was at Lakeview Cemetery.
Pastor James Disney officiated at the funeral service. Sandi Baert played the organ and Janelle Green was the pianist. Remembrances were shared by Pastor Carl Taylor, Chaplain, Pastor Chuck Drake and other family members.
Casket bearers were Valerie Pederson, Grant Bowman, Charissa Pederson, Jordan Bowman, Anastasia Pederson, Michaela Bowman, Luke Pederson, Diane Bowman and Mark Pederson.
The Peterson Chapel of Buffalo served the family.

Elizabeth Anderson

Elizabeth E. (MacArthur) Anderson was born on Dec. 3, 1916 in St. Paul. She is the daughter of Glenn and Elsie MacArthur. She married Irvin R. Anderson on August 10, 1935.
She is the beloved mother of Carol Skrade (Carl), James (Serpil), Ralph (Ann) and Mary Carr (Jeff). She has 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Elizabeth died May 29, 2006 after living in Sunrise Cottages of Buffalo for over 11 years. She was cremated on May 31.
Burial service June 17, 2006, 2 p.m. at Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial Service, Sunday, June 18 at 3 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Memorials preferred to Allina Hospice Foundation.

Pepal Spike

Pepal Delton Spike was born January 24, 1949 to Delton Oliver Spike and Lillian Marquette Spike.
Pepal graduated from Maple Lake High School and then went to Vietnam to serve his country. Upon returning home he went into construction work and in 2004 his health started to fail due to Vietnam problems.
Pep passed away June 10, 2006 in Sherman, Texas leaving many to mourn his loss.
Surviving are his mother Lillian Randall; stepfather Dean Randall; son Jason; brother Brocklyn and (Colleen) Spike; sister Nila J. Spike; a close friend Carleene Cook and stepsister Jody Randall.

Gerald Frank

Gerald Bernard Frank, 81 of Delano, died on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. He was born December 1, 1924 to John and Eleanora (Justus) Frank in Independence, MN.
Gerald was preceded in death by his sons Richard and Kenneth Frank and his parents John and Eleanora Frank.
He is survived by his wife Viola Oborsky; brother Robert Frank; children Karen and Dave Bain, James and Lorna Frank; stepchildren Donald and Brenda Oslowski, Dennis and Helena Oslowski, Peggy and LaVern Kolasa, Lee and Arlene Oslowski, Gail and Wayne Loeffler, and Gary and Catherine Oborsky; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Gerald was a veteran of World War II and was a longtime LP gas service man in the local area. He was a devoted family man and friend to many. He enjoyed socializing with his family and friends.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at the Iten Funeral Chapel in Delano. Gathering of family and friends occurred on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano and continued on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Reverend Frank Wampach officiated at the services with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Pearl Schauer

Pearl Ruth Schwerin Schauer, 91 of Delano, was born on the family farm in Franklin Township, just west of Delano. Her parents were John Schwerin and Elizabeth Addicks Schwerin. She has two sisters, LaVerne and Gladys and a brother Wallace.
Pearl was confirmed in the Montrose Methodist Church in 1927. Following her mother's marriage to Earnest Plath, they moved to Delano and Wallace took over the farm in Franklin Township.
Pearl married Helmuth Schauer on April 19, 1941 and began farming in Delano. She was very active in the Delano Methodist Church, teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, singing in the choir, and of course with the Cassel Circle of the Ladies Aid. Later, she became active in the Wright County Historical Society and the Delano Senior Citizens, serving as president of both groups.
Pearl is survived by her sons Fredrick and Diane of Maple Plain and Merlin and Kathy of Arthur, North Dakota; three grandchildren Sarah Klaff and fiance Chris Gacek of Minneapolis and Stephan and Elizabeth Schauer of Arthur, North Dakota; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 14 at the Delano United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Visitation took place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church on Wednesday prior to the services. Reverend James Beard officiated with interment in the Cassel Cemetery in rural Delano.
Casket bearers were John Kappe, Vernon Lindbloom, Stephan Schauer, Liz Schauer, Sarah Klaff and Chris Gacek.
Pearl passed away on June 10, 2006 at the Delano Health Care Center, which sits on land once encompassed by the Schauer farm in Delano.

Otto Anderson

Otto Anderson was born May 4, 1916 in Polk County near Crookston, MN to parents Gust and Helma Anderson. He farmed and worked for Northern Pacific Railroad in Mentor for 30 years.
Otto passed away May 31, 2006 at the age of 90 at home in Buffalo.
He is survived by his wife, Leone; daughter Carol Kuehn (Bruce) of Mpls.; stepdaughter Jessica Hall (Reps) of Auinger, TX; stepson Marvin Miller of Howard Lake; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alice Abbott of Fertile, Evelyn Chellin of Grove City, Jean Conrady of Fredricksberg, VA and Ann Geschurinder; brother Eddie Anderson of Irene, S.D.; former wife, Minnie Anderson of Mpls. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jack, August, Bill, Oscar and Emil; one sister, Marie Camp and his son, Ronald Anderson of Howard Lake.

Florian Widman

Services were private for Florian E. "Woody" Widman, 78 of Clearwater, who passed away on Monday, June 5, 2006 at his home.
Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.
Woody was born on June 24, 1927 in Arban, Minnesota to Florian and Agatha (Lichy) Widman. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II. Woody married Isabelle M. Kampa on February 6, 1951 at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He was employed by the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor, retiring in 1988. Woody was a member of the Coon Rapids Veterans of Foreign Wars and Clearwater American Legion.
Woody is survived by his wife, Isabelle of Clearwater; children, Kevin (Nancy) of Tacoma, Washington, Mark (Jean) of Pelican Rapids, Damian (Susan) of Ramsey, Eric (June) of Avon and Mary Jo Higgins (Tom) of Oakdale; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Chet and Bob of California; sisters, Rosemary Friebe of Bloomington and Virginia Bennett of Maryland.

Nancy Seth

Nancy Mary Seth (Dahlin), 58 of Buffalo, formerly of Waverly, Maple Lake, Montrose and Delano died on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Park View Care Center in Buffalo. Nancy was born January 11, 1948 to George and Mabel (LaFave) Dahlin in Buffalo.
Nancy worked at a variety of locations over the years, including: Varner's Cafe in Buffalo, JR Clark in Minnetonka, Ware Manufacturing in New Hope, Sta Tite in Maple Plain and day care cleaning throughout the area. Nancy was an avid c-ber over the years, being known as Misty "Ma" Blue. She enjoyed traveling, seeing many of the states, but her favorite was Minnesota.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Debbie; brothers Lloyd and Linda Dahlin, Edward and Jone Dahlin and Jim and Linda Dahlin; many nephews and nieces and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mabel Dahlin and her son Raymond Seth.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. Visitation was held on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Iten Funeral Home in Delano. Visitation continued from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the Mass. Reverend Timothy Cloutier officiated at the service with interment in the church cemetery.

Phyllis Hollenbeck

Phyllis Joyce Hollenbeck, 73 of Buffalo, died suddenly on May 19, 2006 in Mazatlan, Mexico. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Everett; daughter and son-in-law Debbie Pohlkamp and Denzil Oakes; grandson and daughter-in-law David and Betty Pohlkamp; great-grandson Derck; and sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Robert Marquette.
Phyllis had lived in Buffalo all of her life. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, having family and friends over and spending her winters in Mexico. She worked for the telephone company and Ben Franklin for many years.

Theodore Abeln

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Clearwater for Theodore C. "Ted" Abeln, 85 of Waite Park and formerly of Clearwater, who passed away on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Very Reverend Jacob Yali officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Knights of Columbus Council #14013 prayed a rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home in Clearwater.
Ted was born on October 31, 1921 in St. Joseph, Minnesota to George and Anna (Vesper) Abeln. He married Alvina R. Wagner on October 11, 1945 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Clearwater. The couple farmed and raised poultry for Jack Frost in Lyndon Township, Stearns County until their retirement. Ted also drove school bus and did a route delivery for the St. Cloud Times. He was a member of St. Luke's parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #14013.
He enjoyed square dancing with Alvina and tending his many flower gardens. Ted will be remembered as mastering his many talents and especially as a conservationist who arranged for the Abeln family farmstead to become Warner Lake Park.
Survivors include his wife, Alvina; children, Louise of Minneapolis, Joe (Joannie) of Grass Valley, California, Tom (Patti) of Elk River, Dave (Darlene) of Newark, New York, John of Kinder, Louisiana, LuAnn (Bruce) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; six grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle), Courtney (Mark), Michael, Matt (Abby), MeeRa and Kimberly; two great-granddaughters, Sierra and Dara; and one sister, Edna DeVos of San Diego, California; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Eugene and Del; two sisters, Leona Schurke and Cyrilla Rossman.
Memorials are preferred to the St. Luke's Church building fund.
