Michael Bell

Michael Bell, 56 of Buffalo, died on Thursday, November 2, 2006 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis surrounded by his loving family. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather.
Michael was born on May 3, 1950 in Minneapolis to Charles and Delores (Moya) Bell. Mike lived, breathed and died for his family. He devoted his whole life to his wife of 36 years, his two children and two granddaughters. He was a kindhearted, caring and very giving to others. Mike had such a good heart, he proved it endless times with his willingness to help others. He was truly an amazing man who displayed strength and courage until his last breath. Mike battled for the last five years with many medical issues and in July was hospitalized. He had eighteen surgical procedures that followed. His strength and determination were certainly displayed over these past few months. Mike was loved dearly by his family and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of 36 years; sister Karen; children, Russell and Amanda; two granddaughters, Breanna and Brooklynn; and many loving family members and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Inurnment took place at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11 at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
Arrangements were by the Peterson Chapel Buffalo Funeral Home.

Alice Ebeling

Alice M. Ebeling, 85 of Buffalo, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
She was born on April 27, 1921 in Buffalo Township, the daughter of William C. and Florence Bell (Denney) Abel.
Alice was baptized on September 12, 1921 at Pelican Lake Methodist Church by Pastor C.E. Wittrup. She was also confirmed in the Christian faith on April 12, 1936 at the Methodist Church in Buffalo.
Alice was always proud of her experiences during World War II as a shipyard electrician in California.
On September 3, 1947, Alice M. Abel and Einar F. Ebeling were joined in holy marriage at Zion Lutheran Church's parsonage in Buffalo. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Alice was formerly employed for thirty-two years at Cohen's Clothing Store in downtown Buffalo.
She enjoyed poetry, gardening, flowers, reading and being with her family.
Alice was a faithful, longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo since 1948 and belonged to its Ladies Aid. Alice was a member of V.F.W. Post #1901 Auxiliary in Montrose and American Legion Post #270 Auxiliary in Buffalo.
Survived by her loving sons: Neil (Vicki) Ebeling and Brad (Jeannie) Ebeling; daughter-in-law Jill Ebeling all of Buffalo; grandchildren, Eric, Ryan, Leah, Sarah, Rachel and Matthew Ebeling; Mike and Stacey Paumen; a brother-in-law Robert Maehling of Buffalo; Godchild Susan Marshall; many other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Einar Frederick Ebeling on May 21, 1987; a son Douglas Einar Ebeling on March 2, 1991; her parents; four sisters, Edna Weldele, Blanche Rux, Althea Maehling and Lois Eull and by three brothers, Ivory Abel, Elmer Abel and Howard Abel.
Funeral Services for Alice Ebeling were held on Friday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Pastor John P. Folkerds officiated and interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Special music was provided by Julie Weldele and she sang "Amazing Grace" and "On Eagles' Wings." Arnie Wannebo sang "One Day at a Time." Congregational hymns were "Here I Am Lord" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Friends called on Thursday, November 9 at the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo from 4-8 p.m. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Honorary casket bearers were her eight grandchildren and Marjorie Elletson, Mianna Varner, Jane Filek, Betty Peterson and Lauretta Lepinski.
Casket bearers were Dick Weldele, Greg Eull, Kevin Maehling, Bill Eull, Tom Klett and Kenny LaBeau.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.

Alice Etnier

Alice L. Etnier, 100 of Watertown, died on Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Elim Home in Watertown. She was born March 21, 1906 to Albert and Emma (Wetzel) Steindorf in St. Cloud.
She attended school in St. Cloud and also in Charlo, Montana, where her parents moved when she was 10 years old. Later she returned to St. Cloud where she lived with her brother, Fred and his wife, Lena. She worked for Northwest Bell as a telephone operator until she married Ray Etnier in St. Cloud on September 12, 1934. They moved to Nisswa in 1938, where Ray owned and operated a garage/ service station. They lived in Deephaven during World War II, while Ray worked in a defense plant "for the duration." They moved to Watertown in 1944. Ray owned and operated a garage/ service station there and also served as mayor of Watertown from 1967 to 1974. Alice and Ray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1984.
Alice is survived by two sons Donald and Jan of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and David and Elizabeth of Knoxville, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Carl Etnier and Diana Chace of Montpelier, Vermont, Jennifer Etnier and Paige Wagner of Greensboro, North Carolina, Shelley Etnier and David Farnum of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lynn Etnier of Walworth, Wisconsin and Michael Etnier of Bellingham, Washington; one great-granddaughter, Payton Wagner of Greensboro, North Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Although Alice quit school after the 8th grade, as was the norm for girls at that time, her two sons and five grandchildren all went on to complete university studies and post graduate degrees.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; five brothers, Fred, Henry, Eric, Reinhard and Arthur; and four sisters, Meta Rumsey, Eleanor Fisher, Emma Penney and Clara Penney.
Alice was a "stay at home" mom; much of her life was being a helper in her husband's business, "Ray's Garage." She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Besides being a faithful member of a circle at the church, she also belonged to the quilters group. It gave her great pleasure to recycle fabric scraps into a quilt for someone in need. She continued tying quilts at Westwood Place when in her 90s.
Alice was a recycler before the word was invented. She co-chaired a rag drive in the 1960s in which donations of rags went to St. Paul for use in manufacturing fine paper. At Trinity Lutheran Church she was honored to be chosen as Santa Lucia for the annual Lucia Festival in 1990. As her friends quit driving, she drove them to circle and to church. Kindness and graciousness were shown to all she met.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in June of 2007.

Dale Keuten

Smokey (Dale Allen) Keuten, 56 of Red Wing, formerly of St. Paul, passed away on November 6, 2006 following an 18 year battle from injuries sustained as a victim of a hit and run in St. Paul on July 24, 1988. Smokey was born on March 8, 1950 in Superior, Wisconsin.
He attended Big Lake High School and entered the U.S. Army in 1967 where he served in Germany and Vietnam until 1970. Smokey graduated from St. Paul Tech. Institute in 1977.
Smokey is survived by his mother, Aileen Edwards; sisters Donna and Herb Bellach, Shirley and Curt Varner and Marilyn and Howard Paumen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and former wife and life friend Judy Keuten.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 9 at 7 p.m. at the Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake. A gathering of family and friends took place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church prior to the services. Pastor James Lindekugel and Pastor R.W. Oltmanns officiated at the service.

David Mesker

David E. Mesker, 72, formerly of Rockford, died Thursday, November 9, 2006 at his Plymouth home.
He was born on May 27, 1934 to Lloyd and Anna Mesker in Syre. On December 16, 1972 he was united in marriage to Nira Ehlers in Wheaton. For 17 years he was a trucker for DiversiFoam. In 1991, he and Nira purchased Kelco Supply Company. David was the owner and operator of Sand Metal, Inc. from the mid-80s until his untimely death.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and doting over his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, making frequent trips to Las Vegas, going to Billy's in Rockford, bowling and, in earlier years, was a member of bowling leagues.
David and Nira loved wintering in Gold Canyon, AZ, and after her death in 2003, he would visit family and many friends they made there.
He was a member of Our Father's Lutheran Church, the Monticello VFW and the Rockford Lions.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nira; parents Lloyd and Anna (Oswald) Mesker; siblings, Audrey, Delores, JoAnn, Melford, Charles, Marvin and Milo Mesker.
David is survived by his children, Sheila Mesker of Minneapolis, Alicia (Dan) Carr of Elk River and Donovan Mesker of Buffalo; grandchildren, Brendan Martin and Kevin, Kyle and Katelyn Carr; siblings, Orell (Carol) Mesker of Ulen and Lois (Buzz) Ziegler of George Town; mother-in-law, Esther Ehlers of Wheaton; special friend Angela Moore; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral took place at 1 p.m. Monday, November 13, at Our Father's Lutheran Church in Rockford. Visitation was held on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 15 in Elmwood Cemetery.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, 763-682-1362 served the family.

Orville Moore

Orville Edward Moore died at the age of 81 on October 12, 2006 at his daughter Patricia Henry's home in Maple Lake, surrounded by the love of his family. Orv, a fourth generation Minnesotan grew up in Chatham Township, Maple Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He is survived by daughter Patty (Gordon) Henry; son Gregory; grandson Michael Moore; siblings Lauretta Lepinski, Marilyn Eggersgluss, Kathleen Ratican, Marvin Moore, Dennis Moore, Edward Moore and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Sarah Martin Moore of 47 years; parents James and Mary Paumen Moore and brothers George and Russell.
Orv was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and longtime volunteer at his church of The Immaculate Conception in Columbia Heights. Orv was known for his sense of humor and his generous heart. He brought love, laughter and joy to all who knew him.
Evening services were held at the Methuen Taylor Funeral Home in Columbia Heights on Sunday, October 15. The rosary was conducted by the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian burial was conducted October 16 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia Heights.

Philip Nagorski, Sr.

Philip J. Nagorski, Sr. 87 of Maple Lake, died Monday, November 13, 2006 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Father Mark Huberty will officiate and burial will be in St. Timothy's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Philip J. Nagorski, Sr. was born March 5, 1919 in Sobeski, MN to Julius and Mary (Wartas) Nagorski. He married Theresa Williams on August 29, 1944 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. Phil worked as a truck driver for Munson's Feed Co. in Howard Lake for 20 years. He also owned a farm in Albion Center before moving to Maple Lake. He is a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, where he has served as a Eucharistic Minister. Phil enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; children and their spouses, Deanna and Roy Provo of Becker, Philip and Sandra of Buffalo and William of Lakeville; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. His parents and daughter, Mary Theresa preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Tammy Friederichs, Jennifer Hovland, Becky Moldenhauer, Connie Drake, Kristen Hoyne, Chad, Andrew and Laura Nagorski. The Resurrection Choir and Men in Sweaters will provide the music for the service.
Arrangements were made by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Gary Newman

Memorial services were held on Friday, November 10 at 1 p.m. in the Clearwater United Methodist Church for Gary A. Newman, 40, of Clear Lake, who passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at his home after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Reverend Scott Gjevre officiated. Inurnment was at Zion United Methodist Cemetery in South Haven.
Friends called one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Arrangements were by the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater.
Gary was born on February 27, 1966 in Bad Kreuznach, Germany to Allen and Helene (Roth) Newman. He married Leslie Helget on July 25, 1987 at the Clearwater United Methodist Church; they later divorced in 1997. Gary was employed as a carpenter in the Clearwater area. He was a former member of the Clearwater Fire Department.
Gary will be remembered as a jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working on Harleys, detailing cars and remodeling houses. He was looking forward to being a grandpa this month.
Survivors include Leslie of Clear Lake; children, Jessica (Ray) Johnson of Buffalo, Justin and Jenna both at home and Joshua of Clearwater; father, Allen of Clearwater; brothers and sisters, Sandy Shoutz of Princeton, Gloria (Troy) Husom of Luxemburg, Sheila (Mark) Jacobs of Clearwater, Duane (Shirley) of Gilman and Terry of Albany.
He was preceded in death by his mother on September 6, 2006 from pancreatic cancer.
