Grace J. Kleven

Grace J. Kleven, age 76, of Maple Lake died Saturday, December 4, 2004 at Country Manor Health Care Center, Sartell. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake with Rev. Richard Mark officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 6:30 p.m. Monday. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Grace Junnette Kleven was born June 23, 1928 at Hawley to Carl and Gina (Jore) Ekre. She married Carl P. Kleven April 16, 1949 in Hawley and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1994. She was employed by the Lincoln Del, St. Louis Park from 1954-1969, Moorhead Holiday Inn from 1969-1972, Ellis Steak House, Annandale from 1971-1974, and then for 15 years by the Maple Lake Cafe; owning & operating the cafe from 1974-1977. She was a former member of Westwood Lutheran Church, St. Louis Park and a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ and the Maple Lake VFW Post #7664 Auxiliary, being their treasurer since inception. She was a Campfire Girls Leader and aided various youth sports organizations in St. Louis Park. She was always willing to volunteer her food preparation skills for the VFW, Maple Lake Schools, and area churches and benefits. She is survived by her 3 children & their spouses, Gregory Kleven of Maple Lake, Nancy & Robert Bratvold of East Grand Forks, Sandy & Dale Ashwill of Cokato; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Ashwill of Cokato, Karrissa (John) Kasella of Royalton, Randy Bratvold of Minneapolis, Julie Bratvold of Bemidji; sister, brothers & their spouses, Doris Olsen of St. Louis Park, Kenneth & Janice Ekre of Hawley, and Gordon & Carol Ekre of Hawley. She is preceded in death by her husband, brothers & sisters, Clayton, Bernice & Ivy Ekre, Hazel Peterson, Opal Swenson, Esther Johnson, and Irene Bielke. The pallbearers will be Jerome, Ron, Steve, & Mark Ekre, Jay & Neal Olson, Gary & Emery Kleven. The music for the service will be provided by Joyce Breen & David Schmidt, vocalists and Pearl Lieb, organist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.

Loretta Philomina Kaley

Mrs. Loretta P. Kaley, age 82, of Maple Lake died Thursday, December 2, 2004 at home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2004 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Rev. Richard Kaley OFM Conv. and Father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
Loretta Philomina Kaley was born September 22, 1922 in Olivia to John and Matilda (Julius) Dobmeier. She married Richard L. Kaley January 29, 1945 in Bird Island and he preceded her in death December 25, 1983. Loretta & Richard owned and operated Richard’s Bakery & Catering Service, Bloomington from 1954-1975. She was choir director at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, Bloomington and the first music director at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Bloomington. Loretta moved to Maple Lake in 1975 and was very active in the community. She was site coordinator of senior dining in Maple Lake from 1984-1993. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake where she was the former music director for 7 years. She was member and past president of the Maple Lake VFW Auxiliary Post #7664, and volunteered at Wright County Community Action, Maple Lake where she was also a former board member. Loretta loved her family, music, church, entertaining friends, and enjoyed life.
Loretta is survived by 9 children and their spouses, Mary Jo (Dennis) Petersen, Rev. Richard Kaley OFM Conv., James (Jane) Kaley, Kevin (Kathleen) Kaley, Michael (Vicki) Lopez-Kaley, Gerald Kaley, David Kaley, Robert Kaley (Adrian Pereira), and William (Tonya) Kaley; brothers, Ernest Dobmeier, Mervin ‘Pete’ Dobmeier, and Donald ‘Bud’ Dobmeier; sisters, Julia Steffel, and Marcella ‘Sally’ Steil; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Patricia Hilgers; sisters, Josephine Ninow, and Lorraine Jacobson; brothers, Earl and Clifford Dobmeier.
Pallbearers will be Scott Petersen, Michael Kelley, Benjamin Kaley, Matthew Kaley, Joshua Kaley, Richard Kelley, and Zachary Kaley.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake, MN.

Gary Leigh Finneman

Gary L. Finneman, age 50, of Annandale died suddenly of heart failure on Monday, November 29, 2004 at Annandale. His sense of humor and love of life will be missed.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 3, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. David Doppenberg officiating. Inurnment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church.
Gary Leigh Finneman was born March 3, 1954 in St. Cloud to Russell and Betty (Strom) Finneman. He grew up in Robbinsdale and in 1971 enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his Country during the Viet Nam War. He married Claudia M. Simenson April 18, 1986 in Minneapolis and they have lived at Annandale since then. Gary worked in construction as a concrete saw operator, currently being employed by Quality Cutting & Coring of Blaine. He was a member of Laborers Union Local #563 of Minneapolis, South Haven Sportsman’s Club, and HOG. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, fishing, cooking, and making sausage.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia; sons, Nate & Nick; parents, Russell & Betty; brother, Jerry (Pam), all of Annandale; parents in law, George & Lucy Simenson of Thief River Falls; nephews & nieces, Joe & Jenny Finneman, Riley & Danielle Simenson, Justin Simenson, Jade & Katie Leeper; also many other family and friends. His grandparents and sister, Ruth Ann preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Joe Finneman, Dennis Walberg, Chris Sonsteby, Mark Huro, Steve Anderson, Dustin Nicka, Mickey Snabb, and Bruce Robuck. The music for the service will be provided by Lisa & Danielle Simenson, & Tiffany Sorenson vocalists and Orma Lou Jacobsma, organist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Loren Robert Monson

Loren R. Monson, age 70, of South Haven died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Rev. Victor Valencia officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale.
Loren Robert Monson was born September 25, 1934 in St. James to Edward F. and Lillian L. (Stegemeyer) Monson. He served his Country in the U.S. Army and married Marlys C. Haekenkamp on August 11, 1962 in Winsted. Loren was a journeyman carpenter for Witcher Construction and then Kraus-Anderson for 29 years. He was a member of Carpenter’s Union Local #1644 of Minneapolis and a 17-year member of the Watertown Fire Dept. He lived in Watertown prior to moving to South Haven in 1993. He enjoyed woodcarving, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, fast pitch softball, card playing, puzzles, and watching birds and other wildlife.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys of South Haven; children & their spouses, Michael & Julie of Montrose, Jodee & Jim Benage of Hutchinson, Scott & Sherry of Chaska; brothers & their wives, Clifford & Judy of Cokato, Allan & Yvonne of Big Timber, MT; 12 grandchildren, Nikki, Janelle, Jessica, Dustin, Gary, Travis, Jayson, Jordan, Josh, Tyler, Ameilia, & Hunter; 2 great grandchildren, Skyler & Brett. His parents and an infant sister, Bonita preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Clifford & Allan Monson and the music for the service will be provided by Dureen Gasser. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Carl Lawrence Kotilinek

Mr. Carl L. Kotilinek, age 85, of Maple Lake died Friday, March 18, 2005 at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2005 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday. Carl Lawrence Kotilinek was born December 23, 1919 in Maple Lake to George and Lillian (Pavlik) Kotilinek. He served his Country in the US Army during WW II with the 612 Tank Destroyer Battalion. Carl fought in Normandy, Ardennes, and Battle of The Bulge, and received many unit citations. He later met up with the Russian`s in Czechoslovakia. He married Clara M. Barthel May 7, 1955 in Minneapolis and she preceded him in death May 24, 1989. After the war Carl farmed the Kotilinek homestead in Maple Lake Township until retiring in 1982. Carl lived in Maple Lake all his life where he was a member of St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake VFW Post #7664, and the Maple Lake American Legion Post #131. He loved his family, church, farming, the outdoors, and cutting wood. Carl is survived by a son, daughters, and their spouses, Tom (Wendy) of Maple Lake, Rita Kotilinek and fiancé, Jerry Austin of Greenbush, Amy (Mark) Loch of Maple Lake, Mary (Joe) Ackerman of Silver Creek, and Lisa (Dennis) Georges of Buffalo; and 17 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leo, Mark, and Ralph; and a granddaughter, Caroline Loch. Pallbearers will be Christopher Adair, Shane Fertig, Jacob Ackerman, Chase & Derek Kotilinek, and Music for the funeral provided by Sarah Goelz and Krista Elsenpeter. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Florence Amalie Peterson

Mrs. Florence A. Peterson, age 84, of South Haven died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 in Coon Rapids.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2005 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services on Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday.
Florence Amalie Peterson was born November 17, 1920 in Victor Township, Wright County to William C. and Emma M. (Drawert) Birkholz. She married Lloyd W. Peterson July 16, 1941 in Howard Lake and he preceded her in death March 3, 2001. Florence worked 30 years for American Can Company of St. Paul and retired in 1979. She lived in Columbia Heights for many years before moving to Lake Sylvia, rural South Haven in 1980 and has lived in Coon Rapids the past 5 months. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale where she was active in the LWML and Busy Needles. Florence was a former member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Columbia Heights. She loved her family, making quilts, gardening and flowers.
Florence is survived by her son, David (Helena) Peterson of Coon Rapids; sister, Esther Edwards of St. Louis Park; grandchildren, Lisa (Eric) Rixe and David (Carmen) Peterson Jr.; and a great grandson, Dylan Peterson. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 1 sister.
Pallbearers will be David Peterson Jr., Eric Rixe, Irvin Hausladen, Rick Birkholz, Bill Edwards and Bradley Peterson. The organist for the funeral will be Julie Starke.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Edward William Hoefer

Mr. Edward W. Hoefer, age 85, of Kimball died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Hilltop Care Center, Watkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball with Father David Grundman officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball. There will be a 6 p.m. prayer service Sunday.
Edward William Hoefer was born February 28, 1920 in Brooten to Edward A. and Anna C. (Mertens) Hoefer. He lived most of his adult life in the Kimball area where he owned various small businesses. Edward was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball and enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing, and his rock and coin collections.
Edward is survived by his brother, LeRoy (Sandra) of St. Joseph; sisters, Elaine Lechner of St. Cloud, Lucille (Bernard) Kunkel of Mapleton, and Donna Tschumperlin of Ramsey; sister in law, Anita Hoefer of Kimball; and many nieces; and nephews. A sister, Marcella Stenger; and brothers, Mickey and Kenny, preceded him in death.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.

Bernice Lulu Smith

Mrs. Bernice L. Smith, age 95, of South Haven formerly Minneapolis died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Paul Christopherson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Clearwater. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
Bernice Lulu Smith was born October 23, 1909 in Morris to Jacob Wm. and Sophia M. (Sax) Nelson. She married Frank A. Smith October 6, 1928 in Morris and he preceded her in death October 3, 1954. Bernice raised her family in the South Haven area and moved to Minneapolis after the death of her husband. While in Minneapolis she was an apartment caretaker and retired at the age of 90 in 2000. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening and cooking.
Bernice is survived by 4 daughters, Jean Krause of Prior Lake, Barbara Andrews of South Haven, Beverly Campion of Fridley, and Patricia (LeRoy) Chamberlain of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 4 sisters; 4 brothers; and two sons, Roland and William.
Pallbearers will be David, Joe, and Kent Andrews, Charles Smith, Doug Frahm, and Pete Campion.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.

Adeline Helen Latour

Adeline H. Latour, age 82, of Annandale died Monday, February 28, 2005 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Timothy`s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Adeline Helen Latour was born September 18, 1922 in Annandale to Arthur J. and Elizabeth A. (Kalway) Purcell. She married Francis H. Latour in November of 1943 and the couple later divorced. She lived all her life in Corinna Township, Wright County, and worked for Wright-Hennepin Electric Cooperative in Maple Lake for 40 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake and a life member of the Maple Lake VFW Auxiliary Post #7664. Adeline enjoyed gardening, yard work, cards, cribbage and dice.
Adeline is survived by daughters, Gen Latour Huss of Ramsey, NJ, and Adele Leary and husband, Bob Ahonen of Maple Lake; brother, Earl (Helen) Purcell of Annandale; twin sister, Angeline (Harry) Westman of Fridley; grandchildren, Victoria Huss, Rose LeDuc, Andy, Pat, and Tim Leary, Tara Lasley, Shannon Leary, Cory and Cami Ahonen; and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Genevieve.
Pallbearers will be Ed LeDuc, Andrew Leary, John Waldrop, Larry Purcell, Jim Munstenteiger, Music for the funeral provided by St. Timothy`s Resurrection Choir.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.

Ethel Louise Miller

Ethel L. Miller, age 86, of 285 Hoyt Ave. SW, Howard Lake died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at the Annandale Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, Wright County, with Rev. Leland Bendix officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. with visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Ethel Louise Miller was born March 30, 1918 at Parkers Prairie to James and Josephine (Olbeckson) Sterriker. In 1936, she graduated from Annandale High School. She married Victor L. Miller on September 24, 1939 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ethel was a homemaker at their farm in Middleville Township. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, its Bible Study Group, and the Lutheran Women`s Missionary League. She enjoyed her family, church, crafts, knitting, crocheting, visiting with friends, traveling, and spending the last fifteen winters in Texas. Ethel and Victor recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Ethel is survived by her husband, Victor of Howard Lake; children, Virgil & his wife Claudia of Howard Lake, Darlene Bjelland & her husband James of Mesa, AZ, Kevin & his wife Sherri Larson of Howard Lake; sisters, Irene Patenaude of St. Cloud, Henrietta Anderson of Annandale; brothers, James of Mound, Marvin of Annandale; and 4 grandchildren, Ted Miller, Jesse, Shay & Aidan Bjelland. The pallbearers will be Virgil, Kevin, Ted, & Alan Miller. The music for the service will be provided by organist Ruth Goerke and soloist Alex Smoot. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.

Reino Aldrich Ollila

Mr. Reino A. Ollila, age 79, of Watkins died Monday, February 21, 2005 at the V.A. Medical Center, St. Cloud. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 2005 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday. Reino Aldrich Ollila was born September 17, 1925 in French Lake Township, Wright County to Olaf and Effie (Maatta) Ollila. He served his Country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Reino is survived by a brother and sister, Willard (La Vonne) of St. Paul, and Lillian Kailer of Forest Lake; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.

Melvin Everett Ranta

Melvin E. Ranta, age 75, of St. Cloud died Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Talahi Care Center, St. Cloud.
Funeral services will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball with Deacon Steve Yanish officiating. Interment will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Kingston. Friends may call from 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Melvin Everett Ranta was born December 3, 1929 at Kingston to William and Edla (Savola) Ranta. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Marie Oldenburg in November of 1953 and they later were divorced. Melvin farmed near Kingston from 1954-1980; he also was a bricklayer for Jesco Construction, Minneapolis and a cement finisher for Cassellius Concrete, Annandale. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, card playing, and attending flea markets.
He is survived by children & their spouses, Darrell of Waite Park, Alan & Sara of Burnsville, LuAnn & Mike Lizotte of Yakima, WA, Lee & Tina of Yakima, WA, Tom of South Haven; sister, Ellen Hanson & her husband, Herbert of St. Cloud; sister in law, Eunice Ranta of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilho, Arvo, Wayne, & Leslie; and sisters, Mabel Wanhala, Bertha Loop, & Verna Cowley.
The honorary pallbearers will be Ryan, Jason, Ben, Sam, Lee Jr., & Josiah Ranta, and Tim Rieker. Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Kimball.
