In his youth, John worked the summers at his uncle’s sawmill in northern Canada where he learned the value of hard work and the challenges of life in a very dangerous and physically demanding wilderness environment. He was a 1974 graduate of Annandale High School and went on to earn a bachelors degree and a masters degree from St. Johns University. John worked as a social worker until he was struck by mental illness at the age of 30 which ended his career.
He lived for many years in the Isanti area until he returned to live in Annandale where he resided until his death. John was a dreamer who saw everything in a positive light no matter how hard he was struck by reality. He was the rare individual who made no enemies in life. Animals loved him instantly and he returned the favor. John was raised in the Catholic faith and was a true believer in the churches teachings. He expressed those thoughts in the hour preceding his death even though he did not know that his time on earth was about to expire.
It is difficult to express in these few words the thoughts and memories of a life lived by our brother, cousin, brother in law and uncle; it will have to suffice to say that we will miss him and he will live on in our memories.
