Midtovne, Wyatt James

Wyatt James P. Midtovne, of Plainview, MN, died on October 29, 2002 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester.
Wyatt was born on October 29, 2002 in Rochester to Jeremy Michael McMillin and Angela Joy Midtovne.
He is survived by his mother Angela Midtovne, Plainview; father Jeremy McMillin, Kellogg; maternal grandparents Cliff and Joy Midtovne, Plainview; paternal grandparents, Bill and Bonnie McMillin, Kellogg; maternal great-grandparents Iona Midtovne, Winona and Bob and June Nissalke, Santa Clara, Utah; paternal great-grandparents Bob and Bev Polikowsky, Chatfield, MN and Alice McMillin, Kellogg and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather Walter McMillin.
Private family services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Winona.
Funeral arrangements were completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Schlink, Peter Nicholas

Peter Nicholas Schlink, 75, of Rice Lake, Wis., died Tuesday, October 29, 2002.
He was born August 12, 1927 in Altura, Minn.
Survivors include his wife, Bererly of Rice Lake; four children, Sandra (Edward) Solum of Chetek, Wis., Connie Simons of Rockton, Ill., Peter A. Schlink of Rice Lake, and Cecilia (Jackie) Walls of Janesville, Wis.; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Dorothy) Schlink of Lewiston, Minn.; a sister, Rita Sterernagel of Rochester, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Cecilia (Kirch) Schlink, and a brother, Jacob Schlink.
Funeral services were Friday, November 1, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Chetek, with Father Gerald Willger officiating.
Pallbearers were Jim Ludwig, Vian Hazen, Charlie LaRue, Dean Plank, Charles Hazen and Richard Golish.

Larson, Gerda "Gerry" Benson

Gerry "Gerry" Larson, 90, of Winona and formerly of So. Minneapolis, died Saturday, November 9, 2002 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare.
Preceded in death by husbands, Albin F. Benson and Harold A. Larson; a son, Ronald Benson; a sister, Edla Hall; and a brother, Frank Grammond.
Survived by a son, Dwayne (Mavis) Benson of Winona; daughter-in-law, Judy Benson Lang; seven grandchildren: Randy, Brad, Pam, Todd and Tim Benson, Elizabeth Sargent, and Chris Benson; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, at the Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel, 6527 Portland Avenue, So. Minneapolis. Visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment at Pleasant View.
Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Kulas, Joseph J. "Bud"

Joseph J. "Bud" Kulas, 77, of Dodge, Wis., died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at Marinuka Manor in Galesville, Wis.
He was born May 4, 1925 in Dodge. He married Alberta Lilla.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 16, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Pine Creek, Wis. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home, Winona, and again on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. A Christian Wake Service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Boller, Margaret P.

A memorial service for Margaret P. Boller will be held on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. November 13, 2002 at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, 1476 W. Broadway, Winona, MN. Rev. Linda Grounds of LaCrosse, WI. will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-2PM on Wednesday.
Mrs. Boller, a resident of Zumbrota since Oct. 1996, and a former resident of Winona, died of Parkinson's disease on Nov. 9, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. She was born in Winona on March 6, 1925, the daughter of William and Elsa (Ruge) Hein.
She is a graduate of Winona Senior High School and Hamline University, St. Paul, MN.
She also did graduate work at Winona State University.
Mrs. Boller worked for the Cryptanalytic branch of the Military Intelligence Division at Arlington, Virginia. She also worked as a social worker for Winona County. She is a past president and member of the Winona chapter of AAUW. She served as chairman of the Goodview, MN. School Board and spent many hours as a volunteer at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona, MN.
She married Elmer J. Boller of Goodview, MN. on July 2, 1947 in Winona.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer of Zumbrota; Three sons-John (Susan Rainey) Boller, Brooklyn Park, MN., Richard Boller, Prairie du Chien, WI., and David Boller, San Ramon, CA.; Two daughters, Mary Boller and Sara Boller-Hoven (Scott), both of Zumbrota, MN. Grandchildren, Ian Reed and Brenna Hoven, Laura and Jena Boller.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the National Foundation for Parkinson's Disease.

Orr, Donald Merle

Donald Merle Orr, age 78, of Winona, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
Don was born on April 21, 1924 in Houston County, MN to Norman and Florence (Holiday) Orr. He was raised on the family farm in Mound Prairie Township and was baptized and confirmed in the Hokah Methodist Church.
He entered the U.S. Navy on March 21, 1944. He was a Seaman First Class as a gunner on the U.S.S. West Virginia during WW II. He served in the South Pacific and was present in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the Peace Treaty. He was discharged on January 12, 1946.
He married Grace Reynolds. Then on March 1, 1950, he married Lorraine Palmquist Brown and they celebrated 52 years of marriage. He was formerly employed by Trane Company, of LaCrosse, WI; on the family farm; as a milkman for Marigold Dairy, of Winona for 14 years; and for the City of Winona for 17 years, retiring in 1997. After retiring he worked part time as a carrier for Merchants Bank, Winona for seven and one half years.
He was a member of McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona and the VFW Neville-Lien Post #1287.
Don is survived by his wife Lorraine, Winona; six children: Sandy (Dave) Brown, LaCrosse, WI, Wayne (Jeanne) Brown, Denver, CO, Dennis Brown, Yuma, AZ, Nancy Frankum, Winona, Sharon (Peter) Woyczik, Trempealeau, WI and Rick Orr, Winona; his mother Florence Northrup, Winona; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; one sister Genevieve Larson, Winona; nieces, nephews and their beloved cat "Baby"; three half-brothers: Dale (Joyce) Northrup, Winona, Ronnie (Kathy) Northrup, Winona and Roger (Rita) Northrup, Oklahoma City, OK and one half-sister, Bernetta (Jerome) Glenna, Kasson, MN.
Don was preceded in death by his son, Gale Orr in 1976; father Norman; a granddaughter; a great granddaughter; a brother-in-law Howard Larson; five half-brothers: Allan Northrup, James Northrup, Roy Northrup, Jerry Northrup, and Gifford Orr and one half-sister Marilyn Rolbiecki.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 10:30 AM at McKinley United Methodist Church, Winona with the Rev. Dr. Donald D. Budd, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Veterans burial rites will be provided by the VFW Neville-Lien Post #1287, Winona.
Visitation will be Friday, November 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home, Winona and there will be a prayer service at 7:30 PM on Friday at the funeral home. There will be one hour visitation at the church on Saturday.
Casket bearers will be his grandchildren: David Brown, Donald Brown, Ronald Frankum, Troy Woyczik, Rick Orr, Jr. and Crystal Frankum.
Memorials may be directed to the Winona Area Hospice, McKinley United Methodist Church or the Church Elevator Fund.
Arrangements are being completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Peterson, Lyle Palmer
Lyle Palmer Peterson, 54, of Winona, died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services were Friday, November 8, at Whalen Lutheran Church in Whalen, Minn., with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Whalen Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Orr, Donald M.
Donald Merle Orr, 78, of Winona died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at his home.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 9, at McKinley United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Donald D. Budd officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Suchomel, Valeria M.
Valeria M. Suchomel, 83, of St. Louis, MO., and formerly of Winona, died Tuesday, November 5, 2002 in St. Louis.
She was born February 28, 1919 in Owatonna, Minn. She married Ted Suchomel on June 20, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 12, 1973.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, at St. John Nepomucene Church, Winona. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.

Benedett, Francis E.

Francis E. "Ben" Benedett, 73, of rural St. Charles died Thursday evening November 7th at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles, where he had resided since Monday.
Ben was born November 17, 1928 in Elba Township of Winona County to Edwin and Irene (Koepsel) Benedett and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1946. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Following his military duty Ben farmed on the family farm in Elba Township. He then worked for the Winona County Highway Department as Maintenance Supervisor, retiring in 1992. Ben and Barb Sveen were married and later divorced.
Ben enjoyed making wood and metal crafts. He was a member of Berea Moravian Church of St. Charles and the St. Charles American Legion.
Survivors include a brother Donald (Barbara) Benedett of St. Charles, a sister Alice Benedett of Moorhead and three nephews, Steven, Robert and David Benedett.
Funeral Services will be 4 PM Sunday at Berea Moravian Church with the Revs. John Wallace; Maggie Wellert and Keith Harke officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services Sunday at the church.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the St. Charles American Legion.
Hoff Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
