Prudoehl, Hubert R.

Hubert R. Prudoehl, 87, of Rushford, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Hubert was born on February 5, 1914, in St. Charles, Minn. to Berthold and Elizabeth Prudoehl. He was raised in St. Charles, served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Phyllis Larson on October 8, 1948 in Rushford. Hubert worked for Roverud Construction Company for many years. He was a member of the Rushford Lutheran Church, Murphy ­ Johnson American Legion, and the V.F.W. in Rushford. Hubert enjoyed card playing with his buddies over the years, as well as fishing, collecting antiques, and feeding birds. He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Rushford; two daughters: Ann Prudoehl of Plymouth, Minn., and Jane (Manish) Nandy of Romania; and two granddaughters, Lina and Monica. One brother and one sister preceded Hubert in death. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Murphy ­ Johnson American Legion Post. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the church. Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Cook Rushford Chapel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

Benson, Manda G.

Manda G. Benson, 88, of Houston, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. She was born on August 26, 1912, in Yucatan Valley in Houston County to Andrew and Sarah (Brevig) Furuseth. Manda was raised in Yucatan. She married Fred C. Benson on September 10, 1934. Manda and Fred farmed just outside of Houston for many years. Fred died in 1979. Manda worked at Valley View Nursing Home for 20 years, retiring at age 80. She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, as well as the ladies aid and church circle. Manda was a loving and caring, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by one son, John (Harla) Benson of Houston; one daughter, Florian Cairns of Winona, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Jayme, Corey, Tim, Tom, Tony, Terrie, and Tracy; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Selma (Roland) Lee of Pekin, Ill. Manda was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and one sister. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2001, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday, at the Church.

Albrecht, Wayne

Wayne Kent Albrecht, 33, of Rt. 1, Rushford, MN., died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare, Winona, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Winona on December 10, 1968 to Gary W. and Carole J. (Smith) Albrecht. He was empolyed at WalMart and also on the family farm.
He is a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Wilson, MN.
Wayne enjoyed living on the farm, taking care of the animals, cooking and gardening.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was a very caring person, who would help anyone who was in need. He was always there for them. Thanks for the memories.
Wayne is survived by his parents, Gary and Carole Albrecht, Rushford, MN.; brothers, Terry Albrecht, Rushford, MN. and Scott (Missy) Albrecht, Winona. Paterrnal grandparents, Walter and Edna Albrecht, Winona; maternal grandfather, Harold Smith, LaCrosse, WI.
Aunts and uncles, Roy & Darlene Albrecht, Rochester, MN., Joan Albrecht, Minnesota City, MN., Jean & Dale Amundson, Winona; Crystal & Bob Griffin, Lewiston, MN.; Kathy & Len Larson, Houston, MN. and Sharon & John Evenoff, Reno, NV. Niece, Cassidy Albrecht and nephew, Justin Grotjahn.
Wayne was preceded in death by an uncle, Gary Smith, an aunt, Sharon Smith and his step grandmother, Ruth Smith.
Funeral services for Wayne will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 1:30P.M. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Wilson, MN., Rev. Paul C. Stratum officiating.
Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona, MN. Friends may call at the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-9PM where there will be a prayer service at 8:45PM. Friends may also call at the church on Wednesday from 12:30PM to 1:30PM.
Memorial gifts may be directed to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Wilson, MN.
Casket bearers are James and Len Larson, Jr., Tina and Randy Albrecht, Blake and Kyle Vandermoon.

Rowan, James F.

James Flavin Rowan, age 80, died Friday, September 27, 2002 at his home.
James was born on February 17, 1922 in Graceville, MN to Thomas F. and Margaret G. (King) Rowan. He has lived in Winona since September 26, 1931. On June 16, 1951, he married Bernardine Degnan at Lewiston, MN. She preceded him in death on January 11, 1970.
James was employed as an agent for Penn Mutual Life Insurance, Co. retiring in 1988.
He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona, Kiwanis Club, Winona, of which he was a past President and a past Lt. Governor of the Minnesota-Dakota District.
He is survived by a son John Thomas Rowan, Seattle, WA; three daughters, Mary (Richard) Harrity, Boston, MA, Charity (Brian) Floen, Rochester and Margaret (Mark) Daly, Minneapolis; seven grandchildren: Matt and Bridget Floen and Anne, Ellen, Megan (triplets), Michael and Daniel Daly; a sister Irene Banasik, LaCrosse, WI; a sister-in-law Etta Rowan, Winona and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernardine, two brothers Francis and Luke Rowan and a sister Margaret Gautsch.
A memorial mass will be Thursday, October 3, 2002 at 2:30 PM at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Winona with Rev. John M. Sauer, officiating. Veterans burial rites will be conducted at the church on Thursday, by the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the mass.
Funeral arrangements are being completed by Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Johnson, James F.

James F. Johnson, 55, Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Winona, died Monday, September 23, 2002 in Tucson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Boyce, Vivian B.
Vivian B. Boyce, 86, of Rochester, Minn., died Thursday, September 26, 2002 at her home.
Funeral services were Monday, September 30, at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Hurmence of Central United Methodist Church of Winona officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Bollin, Norman D.

Norman D. Bollin, 62, of 5067 West Ninth St., Goodview, Minn., died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at his home.
Memorial services were Tuesday, October 1, at Central Lutheran Church, with Rev. Scott Olson officiating. Burial of his cremated remains was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Albrecht, Wayne Gary

Wayne Gary Albrecht, 33, Rushford, Minn., died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at St. Anne Extended Health Care in Winona.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wilson, Minn., with Rev. Paul C. Stratum officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.

Palubicki, Dorothy F.

Dorothy F. Palubicki, 77, Winona, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, September 28, 2002.
Dorothy was born in Rollingstone, Minn. on November 4, 1924 to John and Gertrude (Gradel) Gora. On April 26, 1947, Dorothy married Anthony J. "Tony" Palubicki at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Winona.
Dorothy raised seven children in a home filled with laughter and love. She was a loving mother and devoted wife to her husband of 49 years. Her caring concern for her family was never more apparent than when she nursed Tony through his long battle with Alzheimer's and cancer.
Dorothy was employed for many years at Watkins Inc., where she made several lifelong friends. Many of her friends were there for her this past week to cheer her up and reminisce over the good ole' days that they had shared together. She was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Church where she served on various committees over the years and also made many friends.
Dorothy is survived by her seven children, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her children are: Nancy (Jim) Waldo, Diane (Steve) Blauer, Cindy (Kevin) O'Laughlin, Tony Jr. (Linda) Palubicki, Tim (Tammy) Palubicki, Amy Strange, and Joe (Julie) Palubicki. Grandchildren are: Ken Waldo, Andy (Linda) Waldo, Angel Waldo-Thomas, Corey Blauer, Jeremy (Anne) O'Laughlin, Jennifer (Jon) Hengel, Jacob (Marge) O'Laughlin, Jason (Jessica) Palubicki, Eric Palubicki, and Aaron, Anna, and Rachel Strange. Great-grandchildren are Stephen Waldo, Christopher and Michael Thomas, and Nicholas Waldo. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Marie Kouba and four sisters-in-law: Marcella Truesdell, Gertrude Palubicki, Helen Gora, and Estelle Palubicki.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Cyril and Everett, and her husband, Tony.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, October 1, at St. John Nepomucene Church, with Father Dan Dernek officiating. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Casketbearers were her grandsons: Jeremy and Jacob O'Laughlin, Jason and Eric Palubicki, Corey Blauer and Aaron Strange. Grandsons Andy and Ken Waldo served as honorary casketbearers.
The family will be directing memorials for Masses for Dorothy and family members, or memorials may be directed to Winona Area Hospice Services.
Dorothy's children would like to especially thank her oncologist, Dr, Richard Ferris, and her long-time physician, Dr. Charles Shepard, as well as Betty and all the nurses who cared for her during her battle with cancer. They treated our Mom with love as well as medicine. We also appreciate the care given by Lake Winona Manor and the Winona Area Hospice.
Friends and family will always remember the love of laughter that Dorothy gave us over the years, and she will forever hold a special place in all of our hearts.

Anderson, Joan Marie

Joan Marie Anderson, 71, of Sparta, Wis., died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta.
A private family memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 3, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sparta, with Rev. Del Begalka officiating.

Rowan, James F.

James F. Rowan, 80, of 528 Maceman St., died Friday, September 27, 2002 at home.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 3, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. John M. Sauer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Harrison, Richard "Dick"

Richard "Dick" Harrison, 76, died Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, October 6, with a private family service. His body will be cremated and buried in the Cedar City Cemetery.

Fakler, Vera J.

Vera J. Fakler, 55, Stockton, Minn., died Monday, September 30, 2002 at Sauer Memorial Home.
Arrangements are pending with Hoff Funeral Home-Winona Chapel.

Walz, Mrs. Ruth (Jack)

Mrs. Ruth (Jack) Walz, 85, of Buffalo City, Wis., died Monday, September 30, 2002 at Lake Winona Manor.
Arrangements are being completed by the Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Winona.

Lind, Donald K.

Donald K. Lind, 74, of Rushford, died Sunday, September 29, 2002, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wis. Donald was born on May 7, 1928, in Mabel, Minn. to Percy and Inga (Housker) Lind. He was raised in Mabel and was a 1946 graduate of Mabel High School. Donald worked at his parents business, Lind's Meat Market, until entering the service. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. On August 3, 1958, he married Anita Schroeder in Mabel. Donald farmed in the Mabel area until 1966, when he and Anita moved to the Highland Prairie area. Donald and Anita lived on the farm until moving to Rushford in 1995. He remained active on the farm until the time of his death. Donald was a member of the Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson, a 50 year member of the Mabel American Legion, and was a member of the Minnesota and American Polled Hereford Association. His interests included showing his Hereford cattle, following his grandchildren's sporting events, and his dog, Ginger. Donald is survived by his wife Anita; five children: Kari (Randy) Drinkall of Rushford and their children: Josh, Chris, Katy, and Tyler; Susie Lind of Rushford; Doug (Becky) Lind of Rushford and their children: Chellsey, Colby, Lakyn, Danielle, Kjersta, Hans, and Jens; Dave (Karla) Lind of Rushford and their children: Tori, Zach, Kenzie, and Kobe; and Dan (Erika) Lind of Peterson, Minn. and their children: Gabe, Sara, Donnie, and Pierce; and one brother Milton (Florence) Lind of Scottsdale, Ariz. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Peterson with the Rev. Wade Davick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Homes ­ Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
