Klug, Daniel J.
Daniel J. Klug, 31, Winona, died Friday, January 22, 1999 at his home.

Daniel John Klug was born April 20, 1967 in Caledonia, MN to Donald and Judy (Mechtel) Klug.

Daniel was a 1985 graduate of Lewiston High School and went on to get his Masters Degree in Elementary Education and Counseling from Winona State University. Daniel was currently working for the Family and Children Center in Winona as a teacher and counselor. He was a member of Sand Castles in Winona.

Daniel will be remembered as being an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and skiing. He will also be remembered for his love of the performing arts and reading.

Daniel is survived by his parents, Don and Judy Klug, Lewiston, MN; special friend, Randy Herlitzka; two sisters, Julie (Kelly) Manley and Jodi (John Iwanski) Klug, both of Winona; paternal grandmother, Evelyn Klug, Lewiston; and maternal grandparents Roy and Norma Mechtel, Caledonia.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Klug Sr.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Lewiston, MN, with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Johnson, Art J.
Art J. Johnson, 90, formerly of Rt. 1, Minnesota City, MN, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at the Lewiston Villa Nursing Home, Lewiston, MN.

He was born in Houston, MN on September 20, 1908 the son of Carl and Johanna (Borgason) Johnson. He married Dorothy Scheideggar on June 30, 1936 in Winona.

Art had farmed in Kassendahl Valley of Houston County until 1946 when he moved to Money Creek and farmed from April 1946 to October 1960. While in Money Creek he started the Milestone Brown Swiss Herd and was a member of the Minnesota and National Canton One Brown Swiss Association. He then farmed in Stockton Valley until retiring in June 1978.

He is a member of Central United Methodist Church, Winona, and the Golden K Kiwanis Club.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy of Lewiston Villa Nursing Home; two sons, Reid (Arlas) Johnson and Ray (Ila) Johnson, both of Minnesota City, MN; a daughter, Judy (Ralph) Osborne, Sparta, WI; grandchildren, Rachel (James) Sternisha, Arlette (Corey) Gensmer, Jenelle (Chad) Larson, Karla (Brett) Koplin, Vicki Johnson, Eric Johnson, Janie (Brad) Lundstrom, and Jennifer (Steven) Brandt; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Agnes Koch, St. Petersburg, FL.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 26 at Central United Methodist Church, Winona with Rev. Mary Hurmence officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Casketbearers were James Sternisha, Corey Gensmer, Chad Larson, Brett Koplin, Eric Johnson, Brad Lundstrom and Steven Brandt.

Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home is assisted the family with arrangements.

Monson, David Lee
David Lee Monson, 64, West Salem, WI, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at the Mulder Health Care Facility, West Salem.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 30 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 359 N. Leonard St., West Salem, WI with Revs. J. David Bersagei and Mitzi Miyamoto officiating. Burial will be in Neshonoc Cemetery, West Salem.

Grant, Veronica M.
Veronica M. Grant, 73, Stoddard, WI, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28 at 1 p.m. at Christian Chapel Church, Onalaska, WI, with Revs.Gary Kins and Burdett Wakeman officiating. Burial will be in S t. Joseph Church Cemetery, Rushford, MN.

Schotzko, Jerry
Jerry Schotzko, 60, died Saturday, January 23, 1999 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, MN.

Jerry was born July 11, 1938 in Redwood Falls, MN to Leo and Marie (Wolf) Schotzko. On May 21, 1966 he married Deanna Moga in New Brighton, MN.

Jerry was a Wildlife Biologist with the Department of the Interior U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 32 years, retiring in August 1993. Jerry was passionately concerned with the environment and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also on the Board of the MN Land Trust, Chapter Co-President of the Southern Blufflands Chapter of the MN Land Trust, a volunteer for the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife and Fish Refuge, and a consultant for the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; his mother, Marie Schotzko, Sleepy Eye, MN; two sons, Paul (Michelle) Williamston, MI and Jay (Michelle Vance) Madison, WI; a daughter, Carol (Cort) Sylvester, Rosemount, MN; five brothers, Ed (Marylee) Schotzko and Steve (Judy) Schotzko, both of Sleepy Eye, Dr. Chuck (Nancy) Schotzko, Aietkin, MN, Fr. Phillip Schotzko, Bird Island, MN and Dennis (Pat) Garretson, SD; four sisters, Berdine (Henry) Neeb, Sanborn, MN, Marylee (Jim) Marshall, Roseville, MN, Sr. Clara Marie Schotzko, Paducah, KY, and Mazie (Marv) VandeBroek, Cordova, AK; and his hunting companion, Brinn.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN, with Rev. Edward McGrath officiating. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Lewiston Chapel on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the MN Land Trust.

Pronschinske, Simon A.
Simon A. Pronschinske, 76, Mondovi, WI, died Sunday, January 24, 1999 at his home.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 28 at 10:30 a.m at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mondovi, with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Waumandee, WI.

Erickson, Robert A.
Robert A. Erickson, 49, 875 West Fifth St., died Monday, January 25, 1999 in Rochester.

Arrangements are pending.

Shaw, Mary E.
Mary E. Shaw, 81, 104 Main Street, died Tuesday, January 26, 1999 at Community Memorial Hospital, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 29 at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, with Father Michael Cronin officiating. Preliminary services are at 1:30 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. where there will be a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mrozek, Rose K.
Rose K. Mrozek, 94, formerly of 919 East Broadway, died Saturday, September 5, 1998 at St. Anne Hospice.

She was born November 23, 1903 in Winona. She married John J. Mrozek. He died May 15, 1955.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.

She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Don) Trainor, Vadnais Heights, MN; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Mrozek, Port Huron, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, and brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 8 at St. Anne Hospice with Msgr. J. Richard Feiten officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Schoenberger, Douglas C.
Douglas C. Schoenberger, 45, Winona, died Sunday, September 6, 1998 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 9 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Alma, WI. Burial will be in Alma Memorial Cemetery.

Nordrum, Kathleen "Kay"
Kathleen "Kay" Nordrum, 76, Winona, died Monday, September 7, 1998 at the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are pending.

Stefannie Valencia Kierlin
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at St. Marys Hospital, Stefannie Valencia Kierlin, a long-time patron of the arts in Minnesota, died after a short illness with cancer.

She will be remembered for her strong dedication to arts education. "SVK" directed the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts in Winona for five years. Prior to that she ran the ballet training school, Children in Concert, also in Winona. She was a member of the Minnesota Arts Board, located in the Twin Cities. Over the years, her students have enjoyed success at the Julliard School, the Butler Ballet and other artistic institutions.

In 1969, she married Robert Allyn Kierlin in Valencia, Venezuela. Upon arrival in Minnesota, the couple had two children, Lara and Monique. She was a wonderful mother and introduced her children to both the South American and French cultures. Her overwhelming love and affection for all children will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; her two daughters, Lara and Monique; her parents, Emma Dolores Astudillo and Vicente Arturo Valencia; her sisters, Elizabeth and Rosana; and her brothers, Hernan, Federico, Manuel, Guillermo and Juan.

Friends may visit on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Monday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Father John Sauer officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.

Casketbearers are Jeff Engbrecht, Federico and Guillermo Valencia, Will Oberton, Kyle Sziraki and Michael Gostomski.
