Nordrum, Kathleen "Kay"
Kathleen "Kay" Nordrum, 76, Winona, died Monday, September 7, 1998, at the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 11 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, LaCrosse, WI.

Gardner, Sister Conchessa
Sister Conchessa Gardner, 84, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rochester, MN, who served as a teacher and librarian, died on September 6, 1998 at Assisi Heights, Rochester.

Born Agnes Gardner on April 18, 1914 in Los Angeles, CA, Sister Conchessa entered the Franciscan Congregation in 1934 from St. Augustine Parish, Austin, MN. She made profession of vows in 1937 and began her teaching career at Saint Mary Academy in Owatonna, MN. Sister Conchessa taught in various schools in Minnesota including Rollingstone, Waseca, North St. Paul, Winona and Albert Lea. From 1963-66 she taught at St. Pius School, Rochester. She also taught in Chicago, IL and served as a librarian at Holy Redeemer School in Portsmouth, OH. Sister was on the staff and assumed duties at Tau Center, Winona from 1982-1998. Sister Conchessa celebrated her diamond jubilee in 1997 and retired to Assisi Heights in May, 1998.

Sister Conchessa is survived by her Franciscan Community.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, September 9 in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, Assisi Heights, with Rev. Jack Krough officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

Prokop, Helen Anne (Brom)
Helen Anne (Brom) Prokop, 96, formerly of Winona, died Saturday, September 5, 1998 at All Saints Catholic Nursing Home in Jacksonville, FL.

She was born April 21, 1902 in Pine Creek, WI, to Martin Bernard and Vincentina (Tendesky) Brom. She married Harry John Prokop on November 15, 1926 in St. Mary's Church, Chicago, IL. He died January 27, 1980.

Helen lived in Winona all of her life and in 1989 moved to Vidalia, GA, after the death of her husband. She was a former member of St. John Nepomucene Parish in Winona.

Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte (David) Self, Vidalia, GA; five grandchildren: David Christopher Self, Richmond, VA, Rachel Camille (Terry) Flinn, Richmond, VA, Rebecca Leah (Richard) Moore, Jacksonville FL, Matthew James Self, Jacksonville, FL, and Roxanne Marie Self, Jacksonville Beach, FL; eight great-grandchildren: Richard Alexander Moore, Zachary David Moore, James Matthew Self, Morgan Shiffert Self, Carley Nancy Self, Lindsey Marie Self, Holly Ann Self and Claire Elizabeth Self; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, John, Frank, Bernard, Harry, twins Peter and Paul Brom, and three sisters, Verna and Monica Brom and Elizabeth Hoesley.

Funeral services were Friday, September 11 at St. John Nepomucene Church with Rev. Robert G. Meyer officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Winona.

Thelen, Art G.
Art G. Thelen, 74, died Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Saturday, September 12 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial was in St. Paul's Memorial Garden.

Stumpf, Marvin D.
Marvin D. Stumpf, 59, Lino Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, September 8, 1998.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 14 at 11 a.m. at Holcomb-Henry-Boom North Chapel, 515 Highway 96 W., Shoreview, MN. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Schroeder, Donald L.
Donald L. Schroeder, 70, Caledonia, MN, died Wednesday, September 9, 1998 at LaCrescent Health Care Center, LaCrescent, MN.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia with Revs. William Runke and Bill Limmer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Caledonia.

Kertzman, Evalyn Mae
Evalyn Mae Kertzman, 91, Doraville (suburb of Atlanta), GA, died Wednesday, August 26, 1998 at her daughter's home in Doraville.

Evalyn Mae Stehn was born on January 29, 1907 in Winona, the daughter of Emil and Maude (Carpenter) Stehn. She was a graduate of the Winona Secretarial School. She was employed by her father's business, Winona Sand and Gravel Company. She married Albert John Kertzman in 1928. She later became a partner with her husband in the A.J. Kertzman Dredging Company. He died June 30, 1979. She moved to Doraville and has resided with her daughter, Darlene Kertzman Henson, for the past seven years.

Evalyn was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church, Winona.

Evalyn is survived by her only daughter, Darlene (Deedi) Kertzman Henson and her husband, Robert L. Henson, Doraville, GA; two grandchildren, Robert K. Henson and Diedre M. Henson; one sister, Betty Marie Angst, Winona; a sister-in-law, Barbara Kertzman Glenzinski, Kankakee, IL and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at the Fawcett Funeral home, 1476 West Broadway, Winona. Officiating will be Rev. Rick King, First Congregational Church. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. A luncheon will be served immediately following the interment at the First Congregational Church, 161 West Broadway, Winona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Watkin's Home, Winona Historical Society or First Congregational Church.

Fawcett Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Eischen, Florence Katherine
Florence Katherine Eischen, 89, 456 Collegeview Drive, Winona, died Monday, August 3, 1998 at her grandson's home in Cincinnati, OH.

Florence K. Nuszloch was born April 6, 1909 in Winona County, MN to Charles Henry and Josephine Augusta (Kobler) Nuszloch. She married Wilbur Harold Dalleska on February 24, 1929 in Winona. He died March 31, 1985. She later married Joseph Eischen on August 6, 1986. He died August 16, 1991.

She was a registered nurse and respiratory therapist for 20 years at Sutter Memorial Hospital, Sacramento, CA.

She was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Sauer Memorial Home Auxiliary and Westfield Golf Club.

She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Rose Czar, New Smyrna Beach, FL; stepsons, Michael (Joanne) Eischen, Winona and Leo (Sharon) Eischen, Rochester, MN; grandson, Michael (Margo) Dalleska, Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter, Mary (Michael) Wood, DeLand, FL; two great-granddaughters, Jamie Martin and Abbey Dalleska; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, a son, Duane Dalleska, a brother and three sisters.

Funeral services were Thursday, August 6 at Fawcett Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Tatkenhorst of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church or Sauer Memorial Home.

Fawcett Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Solseth, Rosemary
Rosemary " Rosie" Solseth, 71, 879 East Sanborn St., died Wednesday, August 5, 1998 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI., as a result of a traffic accident.

She was born June 8, 1927 in Winona to William R. and Florence (Zeise) Cieminski. She married Arthur J. Solseth on September 17, 1949 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Winona. He died December 7, 1991.

She was employed as a Green Thumb worker and was a rural delivery person for Winona Daily News.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary. Rosie was an avid gardener and her flowers were enjoyed by her neighbors and friends. She enjoyed feeding the many birds who flocked to her yard. Her dogs and cats were the love and joy of her life. Rosie's neighbors will feel the loss of her honesty and joyful attitude. Rosie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rosemary is survived by cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Funeral services were Saturday, August 8 at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael J. Cronin officiating. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
