Lange, John Harvey
John Harvey Lange, 85, Apple Valley, Minn., formerly of Winona, died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at the Alterra Sterling House in Apple Valley.
He was born in Winona on September 9, 1905 to John Martin and Jenny Morrison Lange. John married Nellie I. Mundt on June 18, 1928 in Winona County. She preceded him in death on September 27, 1987.
John resided in Winona most of his life. He moved to a townhouse in Eagan, Minn. in September of 1989. Then he was a resident of Apple Valley Villa from October 1994-March 1999, when he moved into the Alterra Sterling House.
He was employed at the Winona Republican Herald from 1927-1946. He then worked for C. Paul Venables from 1946-1968.
He is survived by his son, Eugene H. (Phyllis) Lange of Port Orange, Fla.; grandsons, Randy G. (Linda) of Eagan, Minn., Ricky A. (Brenda) and their daughter, Nellie of Eagan, Minn., and John M. (Susan) and their daughters, Alexandra and Samantha of Cottage Grove, Minn.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 16 at Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Memorials may be given to Brookside Church of Christ, Winona.

Schroeder, Elgar I.
Elgar I. Schroeder, 81, formerly of Meed Rd., Arlington, Wis., died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at Sauer Memorial Home, Winona.
He was born on April 4, 1919 in Arlington, the son of Elsie (Steffenhagen) and William Schroeder. In 1937, Elgar graduated from DeForest High School, where he was active in its alumni association for many years, and also attended the University of Wisconsin. He married the former Jeanette Wittchow on June 1, 1968 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Watertown, Wis.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Winona, and United in Christ Lutheran Church (formerly the Morrisonville Evangelical Lutheran Church), Morrisonville, Wis., where he served as church treasurer for over 20 years.
Until Jeanette and Elgar moved to Winona in 1995, Elgar had lived on the family farm and farmed his entire life. He had resided at Sauer Memorial Home for the past year and a half.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; a daughter, Dawn (John Charles) of Alma, Wis.; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 16 at United in Christ Lutheran Church in Morrisonville, Wis., with Pastors O. Rolf Olson and Mark Dumke officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Poynette, Wis.
Memorials may be given at the donor's discretion to either Faith Lutheran Church, Winona, or United in Christ Lutheran Church in Morrisonville.

Smart, Helen Ramey
Helen Ramey Smart, Brevard, NC., died December 12, 2000 at the home of her son, Thomas L. Smart, in Winona.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at the Brevard Wesleyan Church in Brevard. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Clearfield, Penn., on Friday, December 22 at 1 p.m.
Snyder, Bernice "Bee"
Bernice "Bee" Snyder, 100, of St. Anne Hospice, died Thursday, December 14, 2000 at the hospice.
She was born January 8, 1900 at Clear Lake, Wis., to John and Rosa Bertha Bauer Stone. She married Francis Warde Stoneburg on June 21, 1923. He died August 6, 1931. She married Arthur F. Snyder, Sr., on June 21, 1944. He died August 6, 1973.
She was a former member of the Colonial Congregational Church of Edina.
In 1925 she joined the Eastern Star and has been a member for 75 years. She joined the Zuhra Ladies Shrine Auxiliary in 1947, and was a past president.
She is a life member of OES Jasmine Chapter No. 197; a life member of Kedron Chapter No. 120, Princeton, Minn.; associated with OES Winona Chapter No. 141; and was also a member of the Spur Club, White Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, Mobolettes Society and the Social Order of the Beauceant; and she was a fifty year member of the Edina Women's Club .
She is survived by a son, Cal V. (Susan) Stoneburg of Portage, Mich.; fifteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Stoneburg of Winona.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, a son, Nigel, a sister and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held Monday, December 18 at 4 p.m. at St. Anne Hospice. The Winona Eastern Star No. 141 will provide a service at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Anne Hospice. Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. at the hospice.

Florence E. Jazdzewski, 93, of Shingle Springs, Cal., died Thursday, December 14, 2000 at her home.
She was born June 15, 1907 in Winona. She married William J. Jazdzewski.
Arrangements are being completed by Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home.
Ott, Marguerite M.
Marguerite M. Ott, 85, died Monday, July 10, 2000 at the Lake Shore Inn Nursing Home, Waseca, MN.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29 at 3 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home in Freeport, IL.
Smith, Leo G.
Leo G. Smith, 70, Faribault, MN, formerly of Winona, died Thursday, July 20, 2000.
He was born July 21, 1929 in Winona to Leo B. and Louise (Link) Smith.
He was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Navy after which he was employed by the Sheldahl Co. in Northfield, MN.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; a son, James of Germany; daughters, Sharon and Karen of Faribault; five grandsons; two sisters, Gloria Constable of Cottage Grove, MN and Joan Madigan of Eden Valley, MN; a brother, Don (Mardell) Smith of Winona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Nowlan, David L. Sr.
David L. Nowlan Sr., died Thursday, July 20, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital, Winona.
Funeral services were Saturday, July 22 at Central Lutheran Church.
Campbell, Helen
Helen Campbell, 86, of St. Charles, Minn., died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles.
Helen was born March 3, 1916 in Saratoga Township of Winona County to John and Julia (Cox) Dyar. She and Craig Campbell were married May 15, 1936.
The couple farmed south of St. Charles. Helen was a farm homemaker and she had worked for Elwin and Grace Busian at St. Charles Greenhouse for many years. Craig died July 21, 1997.
Helen was a member of the Sunshine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of St. Charles and the Saratoga Homemakers. She enjoyed crafts and hobbies.
Survivors include two children, Larry Campbell and Joyce (Dick) Evans, both of St. Charles; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Campbell of Chatfield, Minn.; four grandchildren, Darla and Randy Campbell of Chatfield, David Evans of St. Charles and Deanna Evans of Fontana, Cal.; three great-grandchildren, Ian Peck of St. Charles, and Dalton and Carissa Campbell, both of Chatfield.
In addition to her husband, her son, Roy Campbell, a grandson, Tony Evans, four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
There will be an Eastern Star Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
