Farley, Vera L.
Vera L. Farley, 86, Winona, died Saturday, September 16, 2000 surrounded by family and the caring staff of St. Anne Hospice.

She was born October 24, 1913 in Des Moines, Iowa where she attended Roosevelt High School. She met her lifelong love, Paul G. Farley, while in school and they were married in 1935. Together they built and managed Farley's Super Valu while raising six children. In 1960, Vera and Paul moved to Winona where they built Farley's Super Valu which was later sold to Randall Foods. She and Paul spent most of the last 30 years in Des Moines, before returning to Winona in 1999.

Vera is survived by her husband, Paul Farley of Winona; daughters, Jill Brosnahan of Buffalo City, Wis., Mary Gramling of Atlanta, GA, Jane Duffy of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kathleen Haluska of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; sons, Patrick Farley of Des Moines and John Farley of Huntsville, Ala.; and a sister, Helen O'Connor of Placentia, Cal. She enjoyed and spoiled eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 20 at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Anne Hospice in Winona.

Fawcett-Junker Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.

Kaufman, Mrs. Clifford H. (Marion "Jeanne" LaShorne)
Mrs. Clifford H. (Marion "Jeanne" LaShorne) Kaufman, 79, Dubuque, Iowa, died Sunday, September 3, 2000 at her home.

Funeral services were Wednesday, September 6 at the Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial was in Linwood Cemetery.

Repinski, Michael P. Sr.
Michael P. Repinski, Sr., 88, formerly of 807 East Front St., died Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1912 in Winona to Michael and Frances (Wetzel) Repinski. He married Florence J. Rymarkiewicz on October 15, 1938 at Sacred Heart Church, Pine Creek, Wis.

He was employed at Badger Foundry Co., retiring in 1972.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Michael is survived by his wife, Florence of Winona; three sons, Donald (Barbara) of Minnesota City, Minn., Michael (Judith) of Winona, and Dennis (Sharon) of Irving, Tex.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia, five brothers and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, September 7 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Darin Pettis, Ryan, David, Dale, Richard and Roger Repinski.

Honorary pallbearers were Jeff, Rick and Michael T. Repinski Jr.

Meyers, Robert William "Bud"
Robert William Meyers, age 85, died Tuesday, September 5, 2000 at his home.

He was born in Sparta, Wis., on June 17, 1915 to John and Maggie Meyers. He married Wilma Goede on February 18, 1939 in LaCrosse, Wis.

Bud will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, friend and caregiver. He loved being around people and was often seen chatting with friends around town. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Twins and Vikings, working in the yard, and spending time with family. He was especially fond of his grandchildren and loved being a part of their lives.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish.

Bud was employed by the National Tea Company for 35 years, then worked at Expressway and Midtown Foods until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Andrew.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Bud) Nystrom of Winona; two grandchildren, Bill Nystrom of Winona and Mari Nystrom of St. Paul; a sister, Annabelle (Dave) Bjerke of Madison, Wis.; and nieces and nephews.

Private services were held Friday, September 8 at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

The family wishes memorials be directed to the Winona Area Hospice Services or the C&R Unit of Community Memorial Hospital.

Lee, Marjorie L.
Marjorie L. Lee, 62, Houston, MN, died Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 25, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston with Rev. Kris Fahey officiating.

Czarnowski, Kathryn S.
Kathryn S. Czarnowski, 83, of 1225 East Division St., St. Cloud, MN, and formerly of 762 East Howard St., Winona, died Friday, July 21, 2000 at St. Benedictine Senior Care Center, St. Cloud, MN.

She was born August 11, 1916 in Winona to Albert and Mary (Dommer) Nowitzke. She married Louis S. Czarnowski on June 5, 1937 in St. Joseph's Church, Winona. He died May 27, 1998.

Before retiring, Kathryn was employed at NECO Ordinance and later at Miller Felpax.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, the Polish Museum, and Winona Bowling Association.

Survivors include two sons, Louis (Roma) Czarnowski, Jr., of Grey Eagle, MN and Jerome (Darlene) Czarnowski, Owatonna, MN; two granddaughters; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Isabel Jeresek, Winona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, July 25, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Carl Troke, Fred Wild, Aric Czarnowski, Chad Czarnowski, Dave Kulas, and Michael Czarnowski.

Rompa, Raymond A.
Raymond A. Rompa, 66, Winona, died Friday, July 21, 2000 at Community Memorial Hospital

He was born November 17, 1933 in Winona to John J. and Theophila (Drwall) Rompa. He married Judy Ives. They later divorced.

He was employed at Northern States Power Company, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, Polish Heritage Society, Knights of Columbus Council #639, where he served as its Past Grand Knight, and the Veterans of foreign Wars Neville Lien Post #1287. Ray was very involved at the VFW Club, serving as the Chairman of the Board. He organized all the fish fries and meals at the club as well as being the maintenance man and clean up person. He will be sadly missed.

In his retirement, Ray helped many of his friends with odd jobs. Helping people was his enjoyment.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors are children, Christine Rompa of Seattle, WA, Anthony (Cheryl) Rompa, Winona, and Renee (Sgt. James) Mosher, Twenty-nine Palms, CA; four grandchildren, Connie Thorstad, Daniel Rompa, Emily Mosher and Natalie Mosher and "Crosby"; a brother, Michael (Anne) Rompa of Winona; three sisters, Grace (Roger) Brown, Minneapolis, MN, Rita Rompa of Winona, and Janet Rompa of White Bear Lake, MN; and a sister-in-law, Joanne Rompa of Winona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Tuesday, July 25 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with Rev. Daniel R. Dernek officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery where the VFW provided military honors.

Pallbearers were members of the VFW.
